Earlier this morning, we posted about former Bryan, Texas, Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson and her change of heart on abortion. Sarah Palin’s much-anticipated book won’t be released until next Tuesday, but already we’re getting hints at what’s inside. The Associated Press this morning points out that the 413-page book does not mention the father of her grandson, Levi Johnston, at all. AP notes: The tactic does appear to have merit; Johnston, who has sparred repeatedly with [...]
Our Lynn Vincent and Carrie Prejean have several things in common: They both live in San Diego, they attend the same church, and they’ve been labeled as “homophobes” by those representing the New Media left. Theologian, economist, and WORLDmag.com contributor Anthony Bradley has as his goal nothing less than redefining a term he believes has been hijacked by liberation theology—especially among black theologians and activists such as Cornel West and Jesse Jackson. A recanvassing of the vote in New York’s 23 Congressional District shows that everyone may have called the race too soon. Most news accounts on the shooting at Fort Hood refer to 13 dead, but let’s not forget there was a 14th victim: soldier Francheska Velez's unborn baby. The anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall was two days ago, granted, but I keep rereading Reagan speechwriter Anthony Dolan’s Sunday op-ed in the Wall Street Journal for its relevance to the political correctness exhibited this week toward enemies of the state. Republicans have said that this year’s elections are a referendum on President Obama. That might be the case – I would also ask, might this be a referendum on Sarah Palin? As analyst and columnist Michael Barone has pointed out, [...]

Association president Joan Nelson Hook said, "We admired his ability to sustain the pressure not to follow the law. I don't think anyone could ever say his decisions were unlawful." Of course, some, such as Priests for Life director Father Frank Pavone, do consider it unlawful to deny a woman food and water until she dies:
*Iranian crossroads (259 hits)- World Magazine Blog Jun 17, 2005, 1:36 pm
The BBC has printed an eye-witness account of the current Iranian election, which appears to be the most hotly contested in decades. Arash, a 23-year-old engineering graduate, writes that the polls are crowded as many people seek the coveted government stamp on their birth documents a stamp received only after casting a ballot and rumored to be required for government employment. Arash believes the election will either go to ex-president and frontrunner Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani or reformi
*Theocracy puzzle (258 hits)- World Magazine Blog Jun 22, 2005, 11:03 am
As shown in the post "Atheist Evangelism" below, many secularists are deathly afraid that America is becoming a theocracy. To Christian conservatives--who almost never get their way, even from politicians they helped to elect--such an over-estimation of their power and influence can only be laughable. Set aside the reality that hardly any Christian conservatives do , in fact, seek to impose a theocracy. ("My kingdom is not of this world," Jesus said. Besides, Christians know that faith cannot be
Bob and Mary Schindler are challenging the results of Terri Schiavo's autopsy, insisting that their daughter was able to interact with them even though her brain was damaged. The family's attorney said they plan to discuss the autopsy with other doctors and may take legal action. Terri Schiavo died from dehydration after the removal of her feeding tube, but the underlying reason for her brain damage was officially listed as "undetermined." Read a pdf of the autopsy report here....

Can I Live" is a rap song, topping the charts and showing up on MTV's Total Request Live. Nick Cannon performs the song as a tribute to his mother who almost aborted him. She walked away from the abortion clinic after she chose life for her son Nick. Continue reading for the complete lyrics. Here's an excerpt: You Seventeen huh And having me that will ruin everything huh It's alot of angels waiting for their wings You see me in your sleep so you cant kill your dreams 300 Dollars thats the pric
*Schiavo investigation continues (234 hits)- World Magazine Blog Jun 17, 2005, 2:46 pm
Gov. Jeb Bush is calling for an investigation into the events surrounding Michael Schiavo's 911 call after his wife Terri collapsed in 1990. Gov. Bush wrote: I understand that these events took place many years ago, and that you may not be able to collect all the relevant records and physical evidence. However, Mrs. Schiavo's family deserves to know anything that can be done to determine the cause and circumstances of her collapse 15 years ago. The unanswered questions may be unanswerable, but t
*Rebellion against the robes (219 hits)- World Magazine Blog Mar 26, 2005, 1:44 pm
Blogger Hugh Hewitt is writing regularly for WORLD now, and in his latest column he writes about the federal judiciary's treatment of the congressional mandate to review the Terri Schiavo case. What will Congress do next to check the power of the courts? That rebellion against the robes will get its first display in the vote to end the Democrats' many filibusters of the president's nominees to the federal circuit courts. Those Republicans who vote against that rule change will effectively end th
*Born gay? (213 hits)- World Magazine Blog Jun 20, 2005, 11:53 am
In an effort to prove sexual orientation is biological rather than a choice, scientists at Oregon State University are seeking to produce gay sheep by altering conditions in the womb. With laughable ignorance, Seattle Times reporter Sandi Doughton implies that the debate over gay marriage hangs in the balance of this research that biologically predisposed gay sheep would expose Christian opposition to homosexuality as folly. But biblical Christianity is not surprised that sin lurks within our
*"Media malpractice" (211 hits)- World Magazine Blog May 2, 2005, 11:46 am
Joel Belz asked David Gibbs, attorney for Terri Schiavo's parents, what single thing he wished might have been done differently to help save Terri's life. "I wish," Mr. Gibbs said simply, "that we'd been able to show the American public how very alive Terri was." Joel writes from the perspective of a newsman: Why couldn't we in the media have done our job more diligently? Why couldn't we have increased the wattage of our searchlight, forcing Michael Schiavo and his complicit judges to let the pu
*Steyn on terror (172 hits)- World Magazine Blog Aug 7, 2007, 9:50 am
By R.J. Moeller, WORLD intern In a syndicated column this week, Mark Steyn exposes the recent capitulation of Cambridge University Press to Sheikh Khalid bin Mahfouz, a powerful Saudi banker. The CUP had published Alms for Jihad, a book conclusively linking Mahfouz to terrorist front-group transactions. Working through his own private charity, Muwafaq ( Blessed Relief ), Mahfouz was responsible for millions ending up in the hands of Osama Bin Laden. CUP, under pressure from Mahfouz, recalled t
Ann Coulter wonders why Gov. Jeb Bush doesn't call out Guard troops to protect Terri Schiavo. Read her argument...does she have a point?...
I'm finding this story hard to believe. An Illinois state representative who voted against a state ban of partial birth abortion is so concerned about the health of unborn babies that she's pushing a bill to outlaw all ultrasounds on pregnant women except those ordered by a doctor. When asked by a pro-life legislator whether that would include ultrasounds performed at crisis pregnancy centers, she said she didn't know. The bill passed the state House and now heads to the Senate. Planned Parentho
*Euthanasia deja vu (142 hits)- World Magazine Blog Mar 22, 2006, 12:47 pm
A North Korean physician who defected from the communist state has revealed that North Korean babies born with physical disabilities are murdered. "There are no people with physical defects in North Korea," Ri Kwang-chol said. Reminiscent of Adolf Hitler's pursuit of a pure Aryan race, infant euthanasia is encouraged by the state, Ri said, as a way of purifying the masses and eliminating people who might be considered "different."...
Senate Democrats, including Ron Wyden of Oregon, a right-to-die state, have declined to pass by unanimous consent a version of a bill the House passed yesterday to save Terri Schiavo. For her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, that leaves only slim possibilities for help at the federal level, including: 1) The Senate could take up the House version of the bill, pass it, and send it on to the president. This seems unlikely though, since it was noted during Senate floor debate today that many Dems f
*Disorder in the courts (100 hits)- World Magazine Blog Mar 19, 2005, 11:48 am
When America's founding fathers created a system of checks and balances to ensure that each branch of government would not exercise too much power, the plan was for the judiciary to be checked and balanced by the law. Citing the Terri Schiavo case and recent death penalty rulings, Ed Veith writes in his latest WORLD column about the effects postmodernist legal theory has on these checks and balances: Civilization requires the rule of law. Executives, legislators, and citizens must obey the law,
Famous Vermonters Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream fame have donated two ObamaMobiles to the Barack Obama campaign. In advance of Vermont’s March 4 primary, the retrofitted Honda Elements will tour the state dispensing free scoops of “Cherries for Change” ice cream. In comparing Obama’s campaign with his and Cohen’s business [...]

I have to agree with Jeff Jarvis on this one. It's tacky to be selling Terri Schiavo bumper stickers, and the American Family Association should stop....
Finally, some California health officials are placing health above politics. They are looking into possible links in the cases of four California women who have died since 2003 of massive infection after deciding to abort their babies by taking RU-486....
Introducing Michael J. Fox: a new superman of the pro-embryonic stem-cell research movement. The former Back to the Future star called on Congress to lift President Bush's ban on embryonic stem cell research. According to the Associated Press, Fox claims, Embryonic stem cell research holds enormous promise. Fox, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, is one of several celebrities who have recently become spokespersons for this movement. But why aren't celebrities acknowledging the proven b
