The US religious landscape survey from PEW identifies Christians as being the dominant faith based group in America with numbers exceeding 75%. WOW, with numbers as staggering as these how can we possibly still be discussing the legalized killing of our children? The answer may well be hidden in the question. Here it is again. How can we still be talking about legalized killing of our children? There it is again, Talking. Talking and active participation should go together like a 1-2 punch, knocking abortion down and out for good in America. However this can not be farther from the truth. Despite our overwhelming advantage Christians are seemingly well adjusted and lazily adhere to the 40 year reign of policy discussions rather than actively pursuing an end to this entirely acceptable act of barbarism. Out of sight out of mind, right?
American Evangelical Christian theologian, philosopher, and Presbyterian pastor Francis Schaeffer once stated:
In front of every abortion clinic there needs to be a sign that reads, Here by permission of the Church.
However outrageous this may sound Pastor Schaeffer's statement does accurately depict the perception of plausible deniability. Especially regarding the church views related to this murderous act. One could logically assume if not for life affirming christian organizations, abortion would flourish unobstructed. Contrary to that belief, it is exactly what is and has been occurring in our country for nearly 40 years. Now, how do we convince our faith based christian organizations to actively participate in halting ongoing murderous behavior vice talking a good talk? This is something not easily understood especially when approaching the 40 year anniversary of Roe v Wade. I've heard sermons from time to time discussing concerns for the Pro-Life concept and how Christianity takes the protection of life seriously. Seriously, Really? How so? Is this something that is regularly discussed? If so, what steps are we actively pursing to put an end to ABORTION?
Talk to your pastors and ask why this message is not being forcefully pursued every day and in every aspect of our daily lives. Be an inspiration and reject the maligned premise of, " protecting life from cradle to grave". Life deserves protection originating from conception not cradle to grave. Affirming life first is as simple as respectfully requesting a prayer similar to the one below read at every meaningful gathering where Life First principled individuals meet....
