WASHINGTON, D.C. - Family Research Council will be hosting two workshops on women's health at this week's meeting of the United Nations' 55th Commission on the Status of Women Conference in New York City.

The events have been coordinated by Jeanne Monahan, Director of FRC's Center for Human Dignity.

"Women's health in the developing world, as well as here at home, is at risk because of abortion and abortion-related drugs. It is important that the clear medical science involved in these issues be described carefully and thoroughly, which is why Family Research Council and two of our international partners are holding these events for delegates to the U.N. conference on the status of women," Monahan said.

Our regular readers are familiar with the bankrupt philosophy of , the founder of Planned Parenthood who supported eugenics, abortion, and "racial purification" (more here by George Grant).

Care Net and Americans United for Life applauded the introduction of a resolution in Texas praising the work of pregnancy centers. Rep. Landtroop is the key sponsor in the Texas House of the resolution based on the AUL model language. The resolution thanks the non-profit pregnancy centers throughout the state for their tremendous service to women, children, and the community.

I recently read Abby Johnson's book unPlanned. I think everyone should read this book. Although I cried at parts of it and found myself trying not to be judgmental, she is one very brave woman. I found this book, although distrubing in many ways, to be very hopeful.

Those who may have believed pro-lifers blew things out of proportion or were being over zealous can no longer think that after reading this book! Things were even worse than I could have ever imagined. Knowing people who have suffered the after effects of abortion, I truly believe having this story told firsthand and only bring about positive change in the way abortion goes on in America.

Why no taxpayer funds should ever go to Planned Parenthood...

Last week the US House of Representatives did something that has been a long time in coming: they passed the Pence Amendment as part of a federal spending bill which includes a provision to cut taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood is notorious for its radical support of child killing in the womb (i.e., abortion). In fact, PP has slaughtered over 4 million preborn babies and kills 5,871 innocent human beings every week.

Further, recent investigations by LiveAction have revealed the scandal-plagued abortion organization has employees who are willing to ignore criminal activity when an abortion has been requested.

Here is how Rep. Pence introduced the legislation to de-fund PP:

First, the Pence Amendment does not cut any funding for women's health services under Title X. It would simply block those funds already in the bill from subsidizing America's largest abortion provider.

In fact, it has never been my ambition to reduce funding for Title X services. I applaud the important work done at Title X clinics, such as pregnancy diagnosis, breast cancer screening and HIV testing. I support young women getting the access to care they need and deserve. My legislation would help protect women who find themselves in crisis pregnancies by ensuring they receive access to unbiased and compassionate health services.

Second, critics have asserted that if Planned Parenthood is denied funding there would be no other organizations available to provide these services to women in our larger cities. This too is incorrect.

There are literally thousands of clinics across the country -- other than Planned Parenthood -- that receive federal funding and offer access to health care for low-income women and families.

In Indiana, for instance, some of these clinics include: Open Door clinics in both Anderson and Muncie; Lafayette Street Clinic in Fort Wayne; Women's Urgent Visit Center in Indianapolis, and Tri-Cap Family Health Services in Evansville. Around the country, clinics from Maine to Florida and New Mexico to Washington serve the needs of women, such as the Augusta Family Planning Clinic, the Children's Hospital Adolescent Clinic, the Lake Worth Teen Time Clinic, Healthcare for the Homeless, and the Forks Women's Clinic -- just to name a few.

The passage of the Pence Amendment was a victory for taxpayers and a victory for life, and I am hopeful our colleagues in the Senate will join us in ending federal funding for Planned Parenthood once and for all.

Pro-abortion domestic terrorist Theodore Shulman was arrested yesterday after several years of making threats to pro-life leaders. Jill Stanek reports:

Care Net President Melinda Delahoyde responded to news that the Obama Administration has overturned regulations that were designed to undergird the long-standing conscience protection laws for healthcare professionals. Care Net's National Medical Consultant Sandy Christiansen, MD was interviewed by CNN to share her story of discrimination during her residency. Yesterday, Phil Kline testified under oath that Planned Parenthood of Overland Park and George Tiller together aborted 166 girls 14 years and under and only reported one each to authorities. So 164 cases of underage rape or statutory rape went unreported and, therefore, uninvestigated by authorities. Jill Stanek has more.

At the same time, consider the news that an internal investigative report was concealed which concluded no probable cause existed for the ethics complaints against Kline:

The state's disciplinary board for lawyers concealed for 20 months an internal investigative report concluding no probable cause existed to justify ethics complaints against former Attorney General Phill Kline tied to his criminal inquiries into abortion clinics.

A three-member panel of the Kansas Board for Discipline of Attorneys convened Tuesday for the second day of testimony in a related case against Kline.

Kline, in an exclusive interview with The Topeka Capital-Journal, said the document would have been valuable during his unsuccessful August 2008 election campaign for Johnson County district attorney and would have contributed over ensuing years to countering claims he overstepped ethical boundaries as a prosecutor.

During this NBC12 interview, President Obama was asked about the LiveAction sting of Planned Parenthood.

"I think sometimes these issues get manufactured," President Obama said "they get a lot of attention in the blogosphere... Planned Parenthood has done good work."

So, Gwen, what you are implying is - it's better to fund and organization whose core business includes killing off our children by abortion rather than allowing the children to "suffer" through the enjoyment of eating Ramen noodles?

Gwen, I am grew up one of 7 children. My mother talks about how when we were little, she had to really stretch meals when times were tough for her and my dad. The funny thing is we all remember Mother as a greatest cook ever!

And just FYI: I helped raise my sister's 3 children on a very mediocre salary. For three years our family of 6 included my son, 2 nephews, a niece and my husband and me. We all ate quite well on $70 a week - that's $10 a day. Gwen, I know 50 ways to cook pasta. Our meals were filling, cheap and very, very tasty.

Representative Moore, I have one last thing to say: Try this recipe. Cook Ramen noodles as usual--drain. Sprinkle the season pack over the drained noodles--toss and enjoy. Try the same recipe adding diced chicken, fresh veggies when available, but frozen or canned veggies work, too. Yum!

The National Right to Life Committee, the nationwide federation of state right-to-life organizations, expressed strong approval that the U.S. House of Representatives today adopted, 240-185, an amendment offered by Congressman Mike Pence (R-In.) to cut off federal funds to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and 102 named PPFA affiliates.

"This landmark vote demonstrates that most House members now recognize Planned Parenthood is a hyper-political, under-regulated, out-of-control mega-marketer of abortion as a method of birth control," said NRLC Legislative Director Douglas Johnson.

In a letter to House members, NRLC said, "PPFA is the nation's largest abortion provider, reporting 324,008 abortions in 2008. . . . According to press reports, PPFA has recently mandated that all of its regional affiliates must provide abortions by the end of 2013. Recent media reports regarding abuses associated with PPFA-affiliated clinics in multiple states provide additional justifications for the amendment."

The allegations regarding abuses, uncovered by independent journalists posing as sex traffickers, have received substantial coverage in mainstream news media in recent weeks, including this story in the New York Times.

The Pence Amendment does not affect the funding level for any federal program. Instead, it disqualifies PPFA and its named affiliates from receiving any type of federal funds. (In a 2010 ruling, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit rejected a claim that a similar law, cutting off federal funds for the organization ACORN and its affiliates, violated the Constitution's Bill of Attainder Clause.) PPFA affiliates receive about one-third of their aggregate clinic-level income from selling abortions. PPFA has a total annual budget of about $1.1 billion, of which about one-third comes from various levels of government, including at least $88.7 million in a year (2008) from the federal government.

The Pence Amendment was added to H.R. 1, a measure to fund all federal agencies through September 30, 2011. The bill contains a number of other pro-life provisions supported by NRLC, including a provision to restore a policy (overturned by President Obama) denying U.S. foreign aid funds to certain organizations that promote abortion as a method of birth control, and a provision restoring a previous ban on the use of congressionally appropriated funds for abortion on demand in the Federal district (Washington, D.C.), where abortion is currently allowed without any limitation.

The abortion-related provisions will next be considered in the U.S. Senate -- where 33 seats, 23 of them currently held by Democrats or independents who caucus with the Democrats, will be on next year's general election ballot.

"Now senators, too, will go on record on whether to push the snout of this bloated abortion mega-marketer, Planned Parenthood, out of the U.S. Treasury feeding trough," said NRLC's Johnson.

Any differences that emerge between the House and Senate versions of the funding bill will become subjects for negotiations between the two houses, and with the White House.

At a press hearing today, Senator Barry Loudermilk, (R-52) a veteran pro-life leader, announced his filing of the Personhood Amendment, SR 153, in the Georgia Senate. This Resolution titled Paramount Right to Life; Without Regard to Age, Race, Sex, Health, Function or Condition of Dependency, states that the "right to life is vested in each human being from their earliest biological beginning until natural death" and that right should be protected by law.

Current technology and research clearly show that that a fully human and unique individual exists at the moment of conception. Emergency responders removed a patient from a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in St. Louis, Missouri, on Saturday morning and rushed her to the emergency room at Barnes-Jewish-Christian Hospital.

A witness, pro-life sidewalk counselor Marty Bennet, took over a dozen photos of the dramatic incident as the woman was wheeled out the clinic and into an awaiting ambulance. Photos showed that the woman's head was covered and that there was no IV bag or any other sign of ongoing emergency care. There was no evidence that any PP staff member accompanied her to the hospital.

Bennet left a note offering assistance on the vehicle that accompanied the ambulance to the hospital. Later, the husband of the botched abortion victim contacted him to thank him for his concerns. He indicated that his wife is in stable condition.

"From June 2009 until April 2010, 9 ambulances have been at Planned Parenthood and each time a client was transported to Barnes Hospital," said Bennet in a written statement. "Is this safe medical care?"

News of this tragic incident comes on the same day that pro-life supporters around the nation will be gathering for protests at Planned Parenthood offices in over 130 cities to ask for an end to tax-funding for the abortion giant.

"This incident in St. Louis only underscores the dangers of abortion mills in America, which all too often operate without accountability or oversight," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "Our tax money should not be used to prop up shady and dangerous abortion businesses that prey on the vulnerable and act as if they are above the law."

Planned Parenthood is facing several embarrassing scandals that have served to discredit it, including:

• Planned Parenthood groups in Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia were recently caught on tape during a Live Action Films undercover sting showing a willingness to cover up for sex trafficking.
• A Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Kansas currently faces 107 criminal counts related to illegal late-term abortions.
• Seventy-one members of Congress have asked HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius last week to show if tax money is going to finance Planned Parenthood's dangerous telemed abortion pill distribution scheme. Several states are working to outlaw the practice.

"There is no doubt that Planned Parenthood makes huge amounts of money providing services that endanger women," said Newman. "It's time for Americans to stop further lining their pockets with our hard-earned tax dollars."

Steven W. Mosher, president of the Population Research Institute, expressed outrage today at a clear instance of U.S. tax dollars being used to aid a coercive campaign to sterilize 700,000 Rwandan men in 3 years. The program is being carried out under the active influence of at least two USAID-funded special interest groups: Intrahealth and Family Health International. Mosher vowed that PRI would "do everything in its power" to expose and halt the use of U.S. taxpayer funds on this campaign against the Rwandan people.

According to the BBC and Rwandan news outlets, the Rwandan government is introducing this campaign on the heels of a large-scale effort to circumcise men (a procedure which allegedly "protects against" HIV/AIDS infection). However, as the New Times reports, the real reason circumcision was included was simply because "it allows us get to the men's reproductive system and in the process we advise them on condom use and vasectomy."

Not only this, but back in 2008, health officials informed the BBC that these "circumcision campaigns" would be practiced first on "the new born and young men in universities, the army and police." This is because, while many Rwandans balk at the idea of being sterilized, "correspondents say many in the armed forces will regard it as an order" even though it will be "nominally voluntary."

"This amounts to coercion," says Steven Mosher. "First of all, saying that circumcision 'protects against AIDS' is an abuse of semantics, as circumcision doesn't provide a barrier against anything. Secondly, if it will be regarded as an order, it doesn't matter if it actually is one or not. The men will be circumcised/sterilized because they feel that they must, or risk punitive measures."

These programs are not being rolled out by the Rwandan government alone, but represent a concerted push by the U.S. government and international health groups. Intrahealth, for one, proudly advertises that it is conducting surveys of men who have received vasectomies already, and will use "lessons learned to inform recommendations regarding the scale-up of vasectomy services in other districts as requested by the Maternal and Child Health Task Force of the Ministry of Health."

Family Health International, for its part, is "supporting the Rwandan MOH to increase access to quality vasectomy services in Rwanda by training physicians across the country..."

"The Rwandan government claims that it wants men to 'go willingly' for sterilization," says Steven Mosher. "But they also have a hard quota -700,000 - which they are looking to fill. In our experience on this issue, every single time a sterilization campaign has a hard target and a timetable attached to it, it inevitably involves coercion and abusive expansion, just as night follows day"

"Not only that," Mosher continues, "but these groups are funded by USAID, which receives tax dollars from the United States. Our own laws make it illegal for our tax monies to fund forced abortion or sterilization, and campaigns that involve quotas have always been considered coercive."

The unforeseen consequences on the Rwandan family and economy will be far-reaching, and the suffering is too much to ask of an already-traumatized population who deserve every chance to heal," Mosher concludes. A woman posing as a prostitute and "manager" of young girls for "sex work" meets with a staffer at Planned Parenthood's Egypt Center on Minnesota Avenue, NE, in Washington, D.C. The Planned Parenthood staffer counsels the sex trafficker on how to get the girls tested, the best way for them to get an abortion and how to work the system if they don't have health insurance.

"Wisconsin Right to Life strongly supports efforts to finally and permanently take the federal government out of subsidizing abortions," states Susan Armacost, Legislative Director of Wisconsin Right to Life. "For over 30 years, protecting the taxpayer from having to pay for abortions has been an annual process subject to the whim of whomever is in control of Congress. The situation was aggravated by passage of Obamacare with its abortion components and subsidies."

Hearings will occur this week on 2 right-to-life bills in the House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on the Constitution and the House Subcommittee on Health. The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, sponsored by Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), would be a government-wide prohibition on taxpayer subsidization for abortion with conscience protections. The Protect Life Act, sponsored by Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA), is similar to the Stupak-Pitts amendment to Obamacare and would prohibit abortion subsidies and mandates in every component of the massive 2010 health care law.

"Public opinion is strongly against federal subsidies for abortion, and any member of Congress who is truly opposed to federal funding of abortion will vote for both of these bills," said National Right to Life Legislative Director Douglas Johnson. "If President Obama seeks to obstruct these bills, that will provide additional glaring evidence that his professions of opposition to public funding of abortion are phony."

This is the sixth set of full footage released from Live Action’s current ongoing investigation into Planned Parenthood.  This latest reel of footage uncovers what organization President, Lila Rose, calls an “institutional crisis in which Planned Parenthood is willing to assist sex trafficking and exploitation of minors and young women.”

Live Action has released numerous videos over the past three years offering compounding evidence that Rose says, “unequivocally shows that Planned Parenthood is unsafe and puts underage girls and young women in harm’s way.”

“Planned Parenthood has shown repeatedly for the past three years of our investigation that they are willing to aid and abet the sexual exploitation of minors and young girls, even girls as young as 13 and here illegally, all under a sick code of ‘confidentiality.’   For Planned Parenthood, this ‘confidentiality’ supersedes a zero tolerance for sex trafficking and exploitation of minors and young women,” Rose said.

Last week, Live Action released raw footage of five Planned Parenthood clinics, one in New Jersey and four in Virginia, all revealing employees willing to counsel a self-identified sex-trafficker on how to obtain STD testing, birth control and abortions for underage girls that he “manages” in “sex work.”

Bethany Christian Services, the nation's largest adoption agency, today announced that adoption placements through the organization increased by nearly 13% from 2009 to 2010, as more than 1,900 children were united with their forever families last year.

Officials attribute the growth in adoption placements to several factors: a growing acceptance in adopting older children - a 35% year-to-year increase; and a substantial increase in international adoption inquiries as a result of the earthquake in Haiti in January 2010 - a 57% year-to-year increase with nearly 17,000 inquiries this past year.

WICHITA, Kan., Feb. 3, 2011/Christian Newswire --

Foliage Development, Inc., landlord of a local business park, has sued abortionist Mila Means and obtained a temporary order blocking her from starting a new abortion business in her current office.

Means is currently in training once a month at Aid for Women abortion mill in Kansas City, Kansas, where she is being taught how to do abortions.

According to the suit, Means contacted the landlord for her office located at 9916 E. Harry, Suite 105 in Wichita, Kansas, and told of her intent to begin offering abortions on Saturdays starting sometime later this year. The landlord indicated to her at that time that she could not do so because it would violate provisions of her contract that prohibit causing a nuisance. Means indicated that she would proceed with her abortion plans despite objections.

The Foliage then filed suit and was granted a temporary restraining order Friday against Means until a full hearing can be held. That hearing is scheduled for February 15, 2011, at 9:00 AM in Division 26 at the County Courthouse in Wichita. Pro-life leaders, including Operation Rescue President Troy Newman, are scheduled to testify about plans to stage continued protests in the event that Means should begin abortions at any location.

Operation Rescue led the first protest at Means' office gathering nearly 100 people to oppose her intent to conduct abortions there. Other smaller protests have followed. Wichita has been free from abortions since the closure of Women's Health Care Services, in June of 2009.

Operation Rescue has also expressed concerns that an abortion business operated by Means would be a danger to the public. She was disciplined by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts in 2007 for having an inappropriate relationship with a patient and for undisclosed offenses that were sexual in nature. She is also in tremendous debt and has on file an order from one creditor to garnish her wages.

There has been an outpouring of community opposition to Means' plans to bring an abortion business back to Wichita.

At least three tenants leasing space in the same business park have threatened to move if abortions are done there, indicating that it and the ensuing public protests would present an unacceptable disruption to their businesses.

"Whoever thinks they can set up an abortion business in Wichita has seriously underestimated the resolve of this community to remain abortion free," said Newman. "All peaceful and legal means will be used to prevent the further loss of innocent life by abortion in a community that is more than weary of it."

A second Wichita abortionist, Greg Linhardt, an anesthesiologist who is also training in Kansas City to do abortions, is considering opening his own abortion clinic separate from Means, however, his future plans are less clear.

If one of the young trafficked girls needs an abortion, Woodruff refers the pimp and prostitute to the Metropolitan Medical Association, where "their protocols aren't as strict as ours and they don't get audited the same way that we do." The prostitute in the video asks how long after the abortion until the girls can have sex again, and when Woodruff says "minimum of 2 weeks," she asks what sex acts the girls could still do to make money. Woodruff advises, "Waist up, or just be that extra action walking by" to advertise sex to potential clients.
