New book: Pill is marital 'cancer'

NEW YORK, June 29, 2010/Christian Newswire --

Irish pharmacist and pro-life leader Patrick McCrystal is in NYC this week for the U.S. launch of his second book, which deals with the devastating effect contraception has on marriages and the culture as a whole.

McCrystal's book comes on the heels of Nancy Gibb's recent expose in Time magazine, "Love, Sex, Freedom and The Paradox of the Pill," which celebrates the "first medicine ever designed to be taken regularly by people who were not sick." This was followed by the surprisingly candid commentary on the Pill by movie star and celebrity sex symbol Raquel Welch, who sees the lasting legacy of the Pill as the breakdown of marriage and the family:

I myself have been married 4 times, and yet I still feel that it is the cornerstone of civilization, an essential institution that stabilizes society, provides a sanctuary for children and saves us from anarchy.

"Contraception is a most potent destroyer of marital harmony," said McCrystal, author of Who's at the Centre of Your Marriage: The Pill or Jesus Christ. "Most would be surprised to see me and Raquel Welch lining up on the same side of a debate, but she makes some very smart and accurate points in her column," observed McCrystal. "While her diagnosis is correct, my book goes a step further to offer the prescription that can help heal ailing couples: re-centering their marriage on Christ."

A trained pharmacist, McCrystal stopped dispensing the contraceptive pill in 1993 because of its abortion-causing nature. This decision resulted in the loss of his job and subsequent unemployment for three years. Undaunted, he has since spent thousands of hours researching, writing and speaking internationally on contraception and related issues. He is the chairman of Human Life International's Ireland office. One who "practices what he preaches," McCrystal resides in Northern Ireland with his wife, Therese, and is the father of 5 children.

On Friday, McCrystal will be joined in NY by Tony and Ann Crowe, a young Irish couple who bear witness to how contraception almost destroyed their marriage and how they were able to reverse the toxic situation.

New Stanek WND.com column, "Exposed! Kagan's partial-birth abortion scheme"

WND%20logo.gif

The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology is well-known in pro-life circles to be radically pro-abortion.

For instance, ACOG supports the most heinous of all abortion practices, partial-birth abortion. When in 2007 the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the partial-birth abortion ban of 2003, ACOG released an indignant statement, which read, in part:

"Today's decision... is shameful and incomprehensible to those of us who have dedicated our lives to caring for women," said Douglas W. Laube, MD, MEd, ACOG president. "It leaves no doubt that women's health in America is perceived as being of little consequence.

"... The Supreme Court's action today, though stunning, in many ways isn't surprising given the current culture in which scientific knowledge frequently takes a back seat to subjective opinion," he added.

How admirable of ACOG to stand on the principle of "scientific knowledge" in the face of "subjective opinion," which overwhelmingly thought sucking out the brains and collapsing the skulls of almost-delivered late-term babies was gross.

elena kagan pba 2.jpg

But as it turns out, ACOG is the grandest of frauds.

It has just come to light through the process of U.S. Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan's confirmation hearing that in 1996 ACOG let the Clinton White House, via then-associate counsel Elena Kagan, write its medical opinion of the partial-birth abortion procedure....

Scots oppose euthanasia law

June 28, 2010/NRLC --

By Liz Townsend

Almost 90% of those answering a call from the Scottish Parliament for written evidence as it considers an assisted-suicide bill expressed strong opposition to legalizing euthanasia, according to The Scotsman.

The Scottish Parliament's Information Centre reported that 521 of the 601 respondents opposed the bill, with only 39 in favor and 41 expressing no opinion....

The End of Life Assistance Bill would allow anyone over 16 who "has been diagnosed as terminally ill and finds life intolerable; or... is permanently physically incapacitated to such an extent as not to be able to live independently and finds life intolerable" to request help to kill him or herself. The bill requires consultation with 2 medical practitioners, but does not specify the method of death or include any reporting requirements....

Only 7 of the 117 submissions by medical practitioners supported assisted suicide....

Evidence given by the Scottish Council on Human Bioethics summed up... :

Legalising euthanasia... would give the message that human dignity is only based on subjective choices and decisions and whether a life meets certain quality standards.

NRLC: Fetal pain article is "stunning lack of scholarship"

PITTSBURGH, PA/June 25, 2010/NRLC --

As the 40th Annual National Right to Life Convention continued with a special general session focusing on the pain of the unborn child, a Working Party of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) released an article disputing an overwhelming body of evidence that unborn children can feel pain in utero.

The following statement is from NRL Director of State Legislation Mary Spaulding Balch, J.D:

An objective expert in neurobiology would be appalled by the stunning lack of scholarship in the RCOG article. Its authors (predominantly abortion advocates and at least one abortionist) based their claim that unborn children do not experience pain before 24 weeks on the absence of complete nerve connection to the cortex before then.

They ignore the seminal 2007 publication of "Consciousness without a cerebral cortex," in the medical journal Behavioral and Brain Sciences and dismiss its evidence that children born missing virtually all of the cerebral cortex nonetheless experience pain.

Ironically, the article concedes the evidence that by 20 weeks pain receptors are present throughout the unborn child's skin, that these are linked by nerves to the thalamus and the subcortal plate, and that these children have coordinated aversive reactions to painful stimuli, and experience increased stress hormones from it.

This article is an effort by acknowledged abortion promoters to mislead the public at-large - and most tragically women considering abortion - about the increasing evidence demonstrating the unborn child's sensitivity to pain.

The issue of fetal pain has captured headlines thanks to a landmark law enacted by the NE legislature in April which restricts abortion after 20 weeks declaring that the state has a compelling interest in the life of a pain-capable unborn child at and after 20 weeks.

The 2007 article from Behavioral and Brain Sciences is available from the NRLC Communications Department. NRLC's Balch is available to discuss the issue of fetal pain, the RCOG article, and the body of research demonstrating that unborn children are capable of feeling pain. To arrange an interview contact the NRLC Communications Department at (724) 899-6245.

Criminal complaint against telemed abortions filed with IA AG

DES MOINES, IA/June 24, 2010/Christian Newswire --

Operation Rescue has filed a formal complaint with the IA Attorney General's office asking for a criminal investigation of a remote-controlled push-button Internet abortion pill scheme operated by Planned Parenthood of the Heartland known as "telemed abortion."

"We believe that telemed abortions are illegal for several reasons and may rise to the threshold of criminal negligence," said OR President Troy Newman. "PP's scheme to deny women personal access to licensed physicians is a prescription for disaster."

In addition to PP of the Heartland, the complaint names abortionists Thomas William Ross and Susan Haskell, both osteopaths who are employed with PPH and are known to participate in the telemed abortion scheme.

The complaint centers on 5 major areas of concern regarding telemed abortions:

  1. Violation of the IA law requiring that only licensed physicians perform abortions.

  2. PPH's remote dispensing practice for abortion drugs RU-486 and misoprostol so ignores FDA protocols that they are intentionally endangering the lives of women.

  3. Criminal negligence and consumer protection laws may have been violated since evidence shows that PP intentionally exceeds manufacturer warnings and safety limits, and misrepresents to patients the actual failure rate of the medical abortion process.

  4. Consumer protection violations regarding insurance company over-billing.

  5. Patient abandonment since the licensed physician only speaks with the patient for a brief time over an Internet teleconferencing hookup, and never interacts with the patient again even in the case of emergency.

OR has also filed a supplemental information packet with the IA Board of Medicine as an amendment to their complaint, along with a request to expand their investigation to include abortionist Thomas Ross.

OR uncovered the IA telemed abortion scheme during an undercover investigation of abortion clinics throughout the U.S. It published a special report describing the remote controlled abortion process then followed up with a formal complaint to the IA Medical Board. The IMB notified OR in April that the complaint was placed with an investigator.

In interviews, PP officials indicated that the group had plans to expand telemed abortions to every PP clinic by 2015 beginning with two clinics associated with PP of East Central Iowa. Public outcry against the dangerous push-button abortion process caused PPECI to backtrack from their original statements.

New Stanek WND.com column, "Taxpayer cash funds Skype-type abortions"

WND%20logo.gif

In March, pro-life activist group Operation Rescue secretly taped a phone conversation between a Planned Parenthood of the Heartland receptionist in Iowa and a member of its team in Wichita posing as a prospective abortion client.

It was then that we first learned of telemed RU-486 abortions.

"Telemed" is short for "telemedicine," which Wikipedia describes as "a rapidly developing application of clinical medicine where medical information is transferred through interactive audiovisual media for the purpose of consulting, and sometimes remote medical procedures or examinations."

Think of clinical practice via Skype....

And while PP claims telemed abortions are confined at present to Iowa, expansion has been in the works for some time....

I dig a little digging and found that PP of the Great Northwest, which operates in Alaska, Idaho and western Washington, has been trialing telemedicine in Alaska since 2009, with "plans to expand."...

Federal funding appears to be part of the plan. Pro-Life Wisconsin found this revealing July 10, 2009, article in the Business Journal of Milwaukee....

Study: Abortion more than triples breast cancer risk among Sri Lankans

MEDIA ADVISORY, June 22, 2010/Christian Newswire --

The Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer notes a study in the journal, Cancer Epidemiology, reporting that Sri Lankan women with abortions more than tripled their breast cancer risk (3.42 odds ratio). Abortion was the most significant factor in the study. Researchers found a significantly reduced risk associated with prolonged duration of breastfeeding and a nearly tripled increased risk from exposure to passive smoking. The study entitled, "Prolonged breastfeeding reduces risk of breast cancer in Sri Lankan women: A case-control study," was led by Malintha De Silva and colleagues from the University of Colombo.

Among women who breastfed between 12-23 months, researchers found a 66.3% risk reduction in comparison to those who had never breastfed and those who had breastfed between 0 and 11 months. The risk reduction climbed to 87.4% for the 24-35 months group and 94% for the 36-47 months group.

"Obviously, women who abort forfeit the protective effect of breastfeeding," said Karen Malec, president of the Coalition. "The loss of that protective effect is incurred in addition to the effect of abortion leaving the breasts with more places for cancers to start.

"According to the researchers, 'mammography is not widely available for routine screening' in Sri Lanka. Therefore, health professionals must emphasize disease prevention. It is criminal that the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) has covered up this risk for over a half century. Uncle Sam is abusing women by concealing the risk."

The Sri Lankan study is the fourth epidemiological study in fourteen months to report an abortion-breast cancer link, including studies from the U.S., China and Turkey. Louise Brinton, a NCI branch chief, served as co-author in the U.S. study in which she and her colleagues admitted that "...induced abortion and oral contraceptive use were associated with increased risk of breast cancer." The authors cited a statistically significant 40% increased risk.

"It's becoming increasingly difficult for the NCI to keep its fingers and toes in the dike," said Malec, "especially since many researchers in other parts of the world do not depend on the agency for grants."

Defund: GAO reports $1B went to abortion

Operation Rescue/Washington, DC/June 21, 2010 --

The U.S. Government Accounting Office (GAO) released a new report last week that revealed that nearly $1 billion was allocated to abortion-supporting organizations from 2002-2009 with the lion's share of the tax money going to Planned Parenthood.

"With all of the accusations of criminal conduct now circulating against PP organizations nationwide, it is unconscionable for the tax payer to be forced to foot this outrageous bill for their questionable activities," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

"The vast majority of the American people object to tax funding of abortions. At a time of economic instability in our nation it is fiscally irresponsible and morally repugnant for the U.S. government to pour money down the rat hole that is the unscrupulous and unaccountable abortion cartel."

One example of abortion abuses is the case of PP of KS and Mid-MO, which currently faces 107 criminal charges related to illegal late-term abortions and manufacturing evidence to cover it up. Operation Rescue has initiated a campaign to speed that case to trial that has garnered the attention of news organizations. Saturday, WorldNetDaily.com published an article on the subject.

Operation Rescue has worked with legislators who have attempted to defund PP in KS. For two years, legislation that would redirect Title X funding away from Planned Parenthood to legitimate health care clinics has passed with large public support, only to be vetoed by a pro-abortion governor out of step with his constituents.

Another PP organization in IA is currently under investigation by the IA Board of Medicine. That investigation was initiated after Operation Rescue filed a complaint concerning "telemed abortions," which provide dangerous abortion pills via a remote controlled system over the Internet without a licensed physician on site or even available in the event of complications.

Other PP organizations have been accused of concealing child sex abuse, preying on minorities by targeting their neighborhoods for abortion, and shoddy medical practices that have landed scores of women in the hospital and several in the grave.

Now, Rita Diller, the national director of Stop Planned Parenthood (Stopp), has accused PP of "disturbing financial discrepancies" in an editorial published last Friday in the Washington Times. She says that according to PP's own audits, the abortion group actually received $2.3 billion from government programs, but only spent $657.1 million. She rightly questions where the remaining money went and what PP is hiding by not coming clean in their financial reports.

"America is experiencing a moral awakening as far as abortion is concerned," said Newman. "In fact the abortion movement is a failing one. Over two-thirds of the nation's abortion clinics have closed in the past 18 years. The only thing that is allowing this dying industry to stay afloat is the influx of our tax dollars. We simply cannot excuse government funding of abortion either morally or financially as this GAO report so clearly illustrates. We must support efforts to defund the abortion cartel now."

FDA places politics above science, women's health, and informed consent

Washington, DC/Family Research Council/June 17, 2010 --

This afternoon the Food and Drug Administration Advisory Panel considering the new "Emergency Contraceptive," Ella, which can also act as an abortifacient, voted against recommending ANY precautions or labeling that would inform women of the drug's abortifacient capabilities as well as health risks.

Jeanne Monahan, Family Research Council's Director of the Center for Human Dignity, released the following statement:

"The FDA is placing politics above science, women's health and informed consent. Family Research Council calls upon the Obama Administration and the FDA to make good on their promise of transparency and honesty. Women deserve to know that this drug can take a life that has already been implanted as well as the serious health risks it imposes, including infection and bleeding. Women's health should not be jeopardized just to advance the agenda of the abortion industry."

CWA to testify at FDA hearing on abortion drug

WASHINGTON, June 16, 2010/Christian Newswire --

A Food and Drug Administration Advisory Committee will meet on Thursday, June 17, to discuss if Ella, a drug that is similar to the abortion drug RU-486, should be available in the U.S. Ella blocks the hormone progesterone, interfering with the lining of the uterus so an embryo cannot implant or, if implanted, will not survive.

Wendy Wright, President of Concerned Women for America, will testify at the hearing, making these points:

  • Ella operates in the same manner as the abortion drug RU-486 by blocking progesterone receptors. This interferes with the uterine lining, impacting embryos that have not yet implanted and those that have implanted, aborting a pregnancy.
  • Women will take Ella thinking it's a morning-after pill, when in fact, it is an abortion pill.

  • If Ella is easy to access, women will be victims to it being slipped to them without their consent. This has already happened numerous times with other abortion-causing drugs. Drugs that can cause an abortion, while touted as giving women more control over their bodies, are just as easily used by men to exploit women.

  • Advocates for the morning-after pill claimed that it would dramatically reduce pregnancies and abortions. Now they admit that's not true. They also admit that morning-after pills are not as effective as previous studies -- which the FDA relied on -- claimed.

  • The same advocates claim that RU-486 is safe, but the families of the women who died from that drug will beg to differ.

  • Proponents excuse the selling of an ineffective drug to women who are not at risk of getting pregnant as a "woman's right." In reality, what they cloak as a woman's "entitlement" is a facade to promote their own ideological crusade.

  • The FDA should not unleash Ella on unsuspecting women -- a drug promoted by activists with a history of overstating the efficacy of reproductive drugs while understating the overall risks to women.

Personhood Nevada denied right to circulate petition

CARSON CITY, NV/June 15, 2010/Christian Newswire --

Personhood Nevada, through many legal battles, has been denied the right to circulate their pro-life petition in the state. The ACLU joined forces with Planned Parenthood, tying the petition up in court and disallowing the many ready and willing NV volunteers their right to circulate the petition.

"We have several issues at the heart of this matter," explains Keith Mason, co-founder of Personhood USA. "First, we have judicial activists ruling against the petition, despite the fact that nearly similar language has been approved in other states. Second, we have the anti-personhood media reporting that we failed to get the required signatures - when in fact, Personhood Nevada was not allowed to get even ONE signature. This is clearly a case of big money versus the rights of the citizens -- but we're preparing to try again, even stronger than before."

The people's voice in NV has been silenced by those who profit from abortion the most - Planned Parenthood, with over $1 billion in profit in recent years.

The one-sentence proposed state constitutional amendment states, "In the great state of NV, the term 'person' applies to every human being."

James T. Russell, District Judge of Carson City, ruled on January 8, 2010 that the 1-sentence amendment was a myriad of subjects. Personhood NV appealed to the NV Supreme Court, but a ruling has yet to be handed down.

"We have volunteer petition circulators who have been waiting for months," adds Olaf Vancura, President of Personhood Nevada. "Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and the liberal courts have stifled our ability to engage in free speech... keeping us from exercising our constitutional rights as Americans and Nevadans. We are determined that no matter how long it takes, we will not be silenced. The personhood petition will be approved, and we will protect all human life in the state of Nevada."

New Stanek WND.com column, "Planned Parenthood forces us into RU-486 complicity"

WND%20logo.gif

... Robin Marty at RH Reality Check promoted telemed abortions as a welcome alternative to "forc[ing] [women] to travel hours or set aside days in order to obtain the drug."

The ACLU promotes RU-486 abortions because they provide "abortion options for women who live far from a surgical abortion provider.... In 86% of counties in the country, there is no abortion provider... [sometimes] leaving women to travel hundreds of miles for care."

On the flip side this means women taking RU-486 for abortions are "far from" the abortion provider's help, sometimes "hours," sometimes "hundreds of miles."

Which means local clinics and hospitals have been and will be forced to mop up Planned Parenthood's RU-486 complications. In fact, PP recommends this on its website:

vacuum aspiration.gif

Rarely, women need vacuum aspiration or hospitalization. Take your medication guide with you if you need to visit an emergency room, a hospital, or a health-care provider.

"Vacuum aspiration" is code for surgical abortion. (See illustration right, via Wikipedia - click to enlarge.)

PP admits 3 to 4 of every 100 RU-486 abortions fail:

Complete abortion will occur in 96-97% of women who choose mifepristone [RU-486]. In the small percentage of cases that medication abortion fails, other abortion procedures are required to end the pregnancies.

This means in rural areas where PP commits telemed RU-486 abortions, its sole emergency fallback plan is forcing local Catholic or Christian hospitals and/or medical staff to complete its abortions.

PP's solution to its shortage of abortionists and surgical suites is us.

"Women Deliver" Conference confiscates "Celebrate Motherhood" bags

By Joel Pavelski
NRLC Communications

Attendees from around the world streamed into the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in the nation's capitol on Wednesday morning for the third day of the second global Women Deliver conference, carrying pink bags with the inscription: "Celebrate Motherhood." But conference organizers made sure the pink bags, and the information they contained, barely made it inside the doors.

The bags were offered by a small band of staffers and interns led by Jeanne Head, R.N, an experienced labor and delivery nurse, who serves as National Right to Life Vice President for International Affairs and also NRL's United Nations Representative. They arrived outside the convention center at 8 am, and were promptly asked to move across the street.

After about an hour, an attendee from Uganda walked across the street to ask for another bag. She had actually wanted to read the contents, she said. It was at this point that the staffers discovered from the Ugandan attendee that conference organizers were confiscating the bags and throwing them away.

According to the Ugandan attendee, conference organizers were heard telling attendees that the pink bags contained information that was "anti-human-rights," "anti-choice," "anti-life," and "anti-woman."

... [A]ttendees received the pink bags, walked across the street, and only to be required to dispose of them inside the building by conference organizers. (And from that point on, conference organizers began inspecting every bag being brought in because, in their words, the conference had been "infiltrated by anti-abortionists.")

What was inside the pink bags that warranted such an immediate, censorious response?

The "Celebrate Motherhood" bags contained a small plastic fetal model of a 12-week-old unborn child, a small replication of an unborn child's feet at 10 weeks gestation, a brochure on prenatal development, and a brochure containing information on proven means of reducing maternal mortality rates worldwide (the supposed focus of the conference)....

Pro-life primary victories = resurgence of true pro-life feminism

WASHINGTON, June 9, 2010/Christian Newswire --

Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser called Tuesday's victories for pro-life women candidates "the greatest affirmation of our mission in the history of the organization," and "proof that Americans are responding to authentic, pro-life feminism."

"We applaud Americans in CA, NJ, NV, SC and SD for taking steps to support authentic, pro-life feminism with their votes," said Dannenfelser. "Now more than ever, we need pro-woman, pro-life leadership. These women will usher in the year of the pro-life woman and win back critical pro-life margins in the House and Senate."

"CA is now a top priority race for the SBA List and a battleground that sets the tone for the rest of the country. With a pro-life leader like Carly Fiorina facing the ultimate pro-abortion advocate, Barbara Boxer, the stakes couldn't be higher."

"In NV we experienced an embarrassment of riches, with two pro-life women running for the Senate Republican primary and taking over 66% of the vote combined," said Dannenfelser. "With her victory, Sharron Angle is poised to unseat Harry Reid, the leader of the Senate and the key proponent for Obama's health care plan that included taxpayer funding of abortion."

California, Nevada, New Jersey, South Carolina and South Dakota all saw major victories for pro-life women. In California, Carly Fiorina defeated Tom Campbell and Chuck DeVore with 56% of the vote and Star Parker of CA-37 continues on to the General Election after an uncontested primary. Sharron Angle won the Nevada Senate Republican Primary with 40% of the vote. While, in New Jersey's 6th Congressional District, Anna Little leads with less than 100 votes in a race that has not yet been called. Nikki Haley won 48.9% of the vote in the South Carolina Gubernatorial Primary, qualifying her for the run-off and, in South Dakota, Kristi Noem received 42% of the vote in South Dakota's At-Large Republican Primary.

"Tuesday's successes show the clear electoral power of authentic, pro-life feminism," Dannenfelser said of the key pro-life victories. "These are the first of many victories to come."

The Susan B. Anthony List plans to spend $6 million on voter education in the midterm elections, including $3 million on key Senate races. The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of over 280,000 Americans, residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.

New Stanek WND.com column, "Blagojevich's crimes against the sanctity of life"

WND%20logo.gif

Opening arguments were heard yesterday in the federal corruption trial of former IL Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

rod and patti.png

Blagojevich stands accused of attempting to sell President Barack Obama's vacated US Senate seat.

Blagojevich and wife Patti have recently portrayed themselves as sympathetic figures on reality television, he on Celebrity Apprentice and she on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

Both attempts have worked to a degree. About Patti's on-air stint in a Costan Rican jungle Huffington Post noted:

It was image changing, too, for Blagojevich, who came off as a down-to-earth, well-liked mom. Before the show, Blagojevich was mostly known for being a foul-mouthed political spouse caught on federal wiretaps prosecutors had made of her husband.

Rod even managed to win over Donald Trump. When Trump fired Rod in episode 4 because he didn't know how to use modern communication methods (texting, e-mail) to communicate with his team, the Chicago Sun-Times reported:

Donald Trump was hesitant to fire Blagojevich, saying he thought the impeached ex-governor was afraid to offend potential jurors while competing.

"I think Rod is being overly nice because he has some pretty big things to do when we're finished with this," Trump said. "I think he's in a very tough position. I think you're a guy with great courage."

Oh, please. As governor of IL, Rod Blagojevich was anything but courageous, taking inordinate pleasure in picking on people way smaller than himself. On the life issue in particular, Blagojevich was a bully for death.

In 2005...

IA PP in tailspin over telemed abortions

Cedar Rapids, IA/June 8, 2010/Operation Rescue -

Plans to expand abortions via the Internet without the on-site presence of a licensed physician have been placed on hold by Planned Parenthood of East Central Iowa, after a representative from that group prematurely told a reporter that the controversial chemical abortion scheme was slated to expand to Cedar Rapids and Dubuque.

"PP is in a tailspin over this telemed abortion scandal," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "The dangers and possible illegalities of telemed abortions were made public before PP was ready, so now they are forced to backtrack."

According to a press release issued over the weekend by PPECI, there has been no Board approval for the expansion of abortion services into that organization's clinics and denies that there is a blueprint in place for such an expansion.

However, Director of Patient Services Barbara Chadwick previously told Iowa Public Radio that there were plans to expand abortion services into every PP clinic nationwide over the next 5 years.

"We have been looking at initiating an abortion service as a core service of all PPs as part of the Federation's Strategic Plan for 2015," Chadwick said. She also said that signing up for the telemed service will help her organization meet that goal the fastest.

"PPECI wants the telemed abortions, but is backing off now that the truth is out that these remote controlled abortions constitute an abuse of telemedicine and the doctor/patient relationship. It is very likely that we have delayed or even scuttled the planned implementation of dangerous telemed abortions in East Central IA," said Newman.

Telemed abortions are remote controlled push button abortions using pills containing the dangerous drug RU 486, also known as Mifepristone. An abortionist briefly visits with a patient via a teleconferencing hook-up then pushes a button to release a drawer at the outlying clinic that contains the abortion drugs. The patient takes one set of pills and is sent home with instructions for taking the rest of the medication on her own. The woman never has direct personal access to a licensed physician at any time during the abortion process. [Read OR's Special Report on Telemed Abortions]

Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, a separate and larger PP affiliate, has been experimenting in the use of what is known as the "telemed" abortion since July 2008. So far, the risky process has not expanded beyond the PPH organization. There have been 13 known deaths attributed to RU 486 and over 1,100 serious complications.

Operation Rescue has filed a complaint with the IA Board of Medicine asking them to stop the dangerous abortion scheme. An investigation is ongoing.

WI RTL: "Fatherhood in Hollywood" video

MILWAUKEE, WI/Sunday, June 6, 2010/WI Right to Life --

Wisconsin Right to Life continues its "Pass it On" campaign with a "Fatherhood in Hollywood" video which can be found here. This is a 3 minute collection of popular movie clips depicting strong father figures.

"Many families today are fatherless and have no strong male role models for the children," said Barbara Lyons, Executive Director of WI RTL. "And it has been documented that women who become pregnant and do not have the support of the father are more likely to have an abortion, especially if they have already had other children by the same father."

"There are a lot of positive messages in cyberspace," said Lyons. "We want to highlight the good and move the messages across the globe, especially as we approach Father's Day."

Lyons encourages anyone with positive cyber stories to pass them on to her at admin@wrtl.org.

Generation Life hits the beach for pro-life/chastity outreach

MEDIA ADVISORY, June 3, 2010/Christian Newswire --

Generation Life is a movement of young people dedicated to spreading the pro-life and chastity message's to their peers. From June 8 - 19 they will be hitting the NJ Shore to outreach to the thousands of high school seniors that are there for their "Senior Week".

The outreach will consist of a group of about 20 people, ranging from the ages of 18 to 25, who are committed and passionate about the chastity message. They will spend about 4 to 6 hours on the beach handing out fliers about chastity and discussing with people further what it truly means and the freedom that it gives.

Generation Life sees the great desperation for God's love in the society, especially among the young people who are the one's directly influenced by the media.

"The media has twisted and warped the meaning of love, marriage, and human sexuality. TV shows, movies, music, internet, etc. tells us that sex is no big deal and there is no real value to it. We have to change this. We have to turn it around and show our brothers and sisters that they are meant for so much more. And that chastity is a way to truly live out who they are created to be," said Megan Mastroianni, a Generation Life chastity and pro-life speaker.

Chastity, in short, is purity in thoughts, words, actions, and deeds. It is properly living out one's sexuality in everyday life and practicing the virtues of self-control and temperance. It is knowing ones self and what his/her body is created for. Chastity is truly knowing one's worth and seeing the worth and dignity in other human beings.

Generation Life hopes and prays for conversions of heart while at the NJ Shore for two weeks in June. For more information, you can visit www.generationlife.org.

SCPI study on aborted fetal DNA in vaccines presented at International Meeting for Autism Research

SEATTLE, June 3, 2010/Christian Newswire --

Sound Choice Pharmaceutical Institute's founder and lead scientist, Dr Theresa Deisher, presented their ongoing study into the possible link between aborted fetal DNA in several childhood immunizations with Autism and Austim Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at the International Meeting for Autism Research in Philadelphia, PA May 20-22, 2010.

The study which was met with both shock and gratitude for her work, focused on "improper integration of the residual DNA as a possible contributor to autism, particularly in genetically susceptible infants."

"It is known from gene therapy studies that injected naked DNA can be transported to the brain (Wang et al. 2001); that improperly integrated therapeutic DNA has caused cancer in young children (Hacein-Bey-Abina et al. 2008); and that shorter DNA fragments have a higher probability of entering the nucleus [of the cells] (Lechardeur et al. 2002)", noted Dr Theresa, whose company recently received a $500k grant from the Murdock Foundation for their research.

Dr Deisher, along with Physicist Marissa LaMadrid, PhD are investigating whether improper insertion of DNA into the vaccine recipient cells can cause autism. 4 major areas of the research involve:

(1) measuring the amount and length distribution of residual human DNA in vaccines;

(2) predicting sites of DNA insertion via homologous recombination (HR) and measure insertion rates;

(3) modeling how brain cell function might be affected, either via loss of the ability to make proper connections or via selective growth of cells with improperly integrated DNA at the expense of healthy cells;

(4) conducting epidemiology studies comparing autism rates in children injected with vaccines containing human DNA residuals.

The results reported thus far were startling, to say the least.

"Changepoint analysis of autism disorder demonstrates a temporal correlation with events associated with human DNA residuals in vaccines. The levels of residual DNA are well over FDA-recommended limits", stated Dr Deisher. "Meruvax-II contains >140ng/vial ssDNA and >30ng/vial dsDNA, with average lengths of 215bp. Havrix contains >270ng/vial ssDNA and >30ng/vial dsDNA. The FDA-recommended amounts are 10ng/dose."

While research has been conducted in the past on a possible link between thimerosal and autism, no one has ever looked at the contaminating DNA, something requested for years by Children of God for Life, a pro-life watchdog focused on the use of aborted fetal material in vaccines, medicines and other consumer products.

"Until the advent of AVM Biotechnology and their non- profit arm SCPI we had little hope that anyone would invest the time and money to do this study", stated Children of God for Life's founder, Debi Vinnedge.

"Dr Deisher's work is a blessing to hundreds of thousands of families, if not millions worldwide. She is a direct answer to our prayers for a biotech company focused solely on moral research and ethically produced vaccines and therapeutics."

OH Senate passes S.B. 243: ban on human-animal hybrid

MEDIA ADVISORY, June 2, 2010/Christian Newswire --

OH Christian Alliance President Chris Long made the following statement:

For the past 7 years, OCA has been working tirelessly with members of the OH Legislature to ban embryonic stem cell research, human cloning, and in recent years, animal-human hybrids. Science has advanced to the point where DNA from animals and humans can be intermixed in scientific laboratory experimentation. This is simply outrageous!

Animal-human hybrid research is currently being conducted in England, which many in the international medical community now consider to be a rogue medical state. It is unknown how many U.S. laboratories are currently conducting similar research. Our office has been working with State Sen. Steve Buehrer and other members of the OH Senate for the past 3 years to introduce this legislation. We commend the following State Senators for their co-sponsorship of this vital legislation: Sens. John Carey, Kevin Coughlin, Keith Faber, Bob Gibbs, Tim Grendell, Shannon Jones and Tim Schaffer.

Dr. David Prentice of the Family Research Council states, "Creating 'experimental humans' through nuclear transfer cloning or as animal-human hybrids is an unethical use of science, and will not lead to useful medical treatments for patients. The focus should be on ethical and successful research that puts the patients first."

OH Christian Alliance believes that no human life should begin and end as the subject of an experiment. We attest that a process that knowingly encourages human life to be created, manipulated for research, and ultimately destroyed is immoral and should be prohibited. The research facilities in this state that did not oppose this legislation concur by their actions that ethical guidelines in the field of science do exist and that there are barriers that should not be breached. All who believe that human life, including nascent human life, is a unique and precious gift from our Creator have an obligation to support efforts to ban it.
