Operation Rescue: Roeder was wrong, Tiller was set to retire

WICHITA, KS, May 31, 2010/Christian Newswire --

At a fundraising dinner held on May 26, 2010, abortionist LeRoy Carhart told attendees that his employer, George Tiller, was making plans to soon retire prior to his murder by Scott Roeder last year. The information was reported on a feminist blog site by a woman who attended the event.

"Dr. Carhart confided that Tiller was slated to begin his retirement not long before his death," the blogger wrote.

Operation Rescue stated publicly in a commentary published on Feb. 2, 2010, that we believed that Tiller may have been planning to retire rather than face the disgrace of being disciplined for illegal late-term abortions by the KS Board of Healing Arts, which had filed an 11- count petition against him that was pending at the time of his death.

"Carhart confirms that we were correct in concluding that Tiller was ready to retire," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "We had worked since 2002, through peaceful, legal avenues to expose the heinous nature of Tiller's late-term abortion business, bring him to justice, and close his abortion clinic. The fact that Tiller was preparing to quit proves that our efforts were successful. Unfortunately, Tiller's murder a year ago was a senseless and despicable act that wrongly took a life and denied the people justice under the law. If Roeder had not acted, Tiller would be retired today and his abortion clinic closed without violence. We were right. Roeder was as wrong as it gets."

Thomas More Society appeals in effort to end delay of IL Parental Notice of Abortion Act

CHICAGO, May 28, 2010/Christian Newswire --

Today, attorneys from the Thomas More Society filed an appeal in an effort to vacate the stay Judge Daniel Riley imposed on the implementation of the IL Parental Notice of Abortion Act, arguing that there is no legal basis to further delay the law.

"The IL Parental Notice of Abortion Act has held up numerous times against attacks by the ACLU and other opponents, and we believe there is no legal reason to prevent implementation of this long-overdue and much- needed law in Illinois," said Peter Breen, Thomas More Society executive director and legal counsel. "It is time to enforce this law and put an end to secret abortions in Illinois."

Earlier this spring, Judge Riley dismissed a lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union that challenged the constitutionality of the Act and imposed a stay of his decision until the ACLU's appeal of that decision is complete -- a process that could take years.

The Thomas More Society has argued that the continuation of the temporary restraining order via Judge Riley's indefinite stay violates Illinois law and contradicts the will of the people, particularly after the law had been found constitutional and valid.

Congressman Chris Smith speaks out for women's and children's rights in China

WASHINGTON, May 27, 2010/Christian Newswire --

On June 1, China's International Children's Day, Congressman Chris Smith (D-NJ) will join four other panelists, including T. Kumar of Amnesty International, in speaking out for women and children's rights in China.

At the lunch discussion entitled, "No Choice Allowed: China's Hollow Celebration of International Children's Day," Congressman Smith will address the grave systemic consequences of China's One Child Policy and the actions concerned citizens can adopt to make a difference. The lunch panel will further welcome "All Girls Allowed," a new initiative of Jenzabar Foundation which promotes the livelihoods of women and children in China.

Congressman Smith... is well-known for his defense of human rights and global justice. His legislative acts, the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Law and Violence Against Women Act, have been instrumental in protecting women in cases of human-trafficking, rape, sexual assault, and domestic violence. Congressman Smith has presided over more than 20 Congressional hearings on the issue of human rights, forced abortion and women's rights in China in his 28 years of service in the U.S. House of Representatives. He remains a staunch advocate for human life and freedom in the U.S. and around the world.

"We are honored to have Congressman Smith add his voice to our initiative for freedom and justice for these brutally abused women and children," says Chai Ling, cofounder of the All Girls Allowed Initiative. The discussion will be held from 12:15-1:30 PM on Tuesday, June 1, in the Rayburn House Office Building.

Pro-life activists to challenge Planned Parenthood ban on 1st Amendment in D.C.

WASHINGTON, May 28, 2010/Christian Newswire --

Planned Parenthood has put up a fence around public property and threatened to arrest members of the pro-life community who attempt to pray and counsel on the public sidewalk and property.

(See photos here.)

For years, people were allowed to pray, counsel and maintain a pro-life witness on the public property and sidewalk surrounding PP.

The Christian Defense Coalition has applied for a permit to hold a prayer vigil on the public sidewalk leading to the entrance of PP.

The date for that prayer vigil is Tuesday, June 8 at 11:00 A.M. at Planned Parenthood, 1108 16th Street NW in Washington, D.C.

The activists would rather risk arrest than surrender their 1st Amendment rights and they want to make it clear they will not be bullied into silence.

Sadly, the actions of PP show they have no respect for the law, the 1st Amendment or social justice.

The activists are being represented by the American Center for Law and Justice.

Priest: UK Marie Stopes abortion ads "heinous"

FRONT ROYAL, VA, May 26, 2010/Christian Newswire --

Human Life International President Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer today responded to news that Marie Stopes, the largest abortion provider in England and in much of the world, will be allowed to run commercials advertising abortion as a solution for women in crisis pregnancies.

"Pro-lifers have been saying this for decades -- these are abortion profiteers," said Rev. Euteneuer. "They literally have no shame. These profit-seeking commercials point out the lie that abortion is a 'choice' or an act of compassion. No, abortion is a grubby business, pure and simple."

"Marie Stopes shows us that the abortion industry targets women in their most vulnerable moments and offers them one solution--the killing of a baby," said Rev. Euteneuer. "These women need loving concern. They need to be shown true, life-affirming options, not a false way out that not only results in the death of the child, but in multiple health and emotional problems for the mother."

Several years ago an official of Marie Stopes caused a scandal by admitting in a public conference that their clinics perform illegal abortions in the Third World.

"Whether they are aborting babies in the UK or in the poorest countries of the world they make profit off the killing of God's most precious children," said Rev. Euteneuer. "The sad part is that now they are given space on prime time for these heinous ads. We will be working with our friends in the UK to oppose this offense to life and dignity. This cannot go unanswered."

WI RTL announces campaign to opt-out of Obamacare abortion coverage

MEDIA ADVISORY, May 26, 2010/Christian Newswire --

WI Right to Life is announcing today a massive campaign aimed at allowing Wisconsin to opt-out of abortion coverage in the state-based insurance "exchanges" created by the federal health care law known as Obamacare.

According to Susan Armacost, WI RTL Legislative Director, the organization has been working with legislators for some time on this issue. "Polling has consistently shown that citizens do not want to subsidize abortion coverage or pay for abortions," said Armacost. "Obamacare requires federal agencies to subsidize and administer health plans that will pay for elective abortions. The law also opens the door to direct federal funding of abortion in Community Health Centers, hundreds of which are operated by Planned Parenthood - the nation's largest abortion provider," Armacost said.
"While state legislation cannot correct all of the abhorrent federal abortion provisions, we do have the ability to make sure that the state-based insurance exchanges are not spending tax dollars to subsidize abortion."

The Executive Order signed by President Obama, widely and inaccurately reported as prohibiting taxpayer abortion funding under the law, cannot overrule the abortion impact of the law.

Opt-out legislation cannot be introduced until January of 2011. As a first step in the campaign to enact opt-out legislation, WI RTL is promoting a petition to our new Governor, who will take office then, letting him know that hundreds of thousands of Wisconsin citizens want our state to opt-out of subsidizing abortions through health insurance. The petition can be found online at www.wrtl.org/petition.

New Stanek WND.com column, "On the path to over-the-counter abortions"

WND%20logo.gif

On June 17, the FDA's Advisory Committee for Reproductive Health will hold a public hearing to begin the approval process of a new abortion pill, Ulipristal acetate, to be marketed by the brand names ella® or ellaOne®.

ellaOne can be taken up to 5 days after unprotected sex, as opposed to emergency contraception, which can be taken up to 3 days after unprotected sex.

ellaOne has been marketed in the United Kingdom since September 2009 as an emergency contraceptive, but it does not chemically work the same in a woman's body as an EC.

ellaone abortion.jpg

In fact, ellaOne works the same as mifepristone, or RU486, also known as the abortion pill, which can be taken up to 49 days after the first day of a woman's last period....

A "fact sheet" by the Reproductive Health Technologies Project, which is pushing FDA approval of ellaOne, confirms "mifepristone [RU486] and ulipristal acetate [ellaOne] are both selective progesterone modulators."...

ellaOne is an abortion pill. Backers want it considered an EC to make it available first by prescription and then over-the-counter, as was the EC.

If the FDA approves ellaOne as an EC, the day draws closer when abortion proponents push to make RU486 available first by prescription and then over-the-counter....

SBA List spends $$ to support pro-life candidate in CA

WASHINGTON, May 25, 2010/Christian Newswire --

Today, the Susan B. Anthony List, a pro-life group, launched a $215k independent expenditure campaign highlighting the strong pro-life stance of CA Senate candidate Carly Fiorina. Leading up to the state primary election on June 8th, the SBA List will educate voters through an aggressive online advertising and e-mail campaign, targeted calls to 600,000 registered voters and direct fundraising from its membership.

Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser said of the education effort:

Carly Fiorina is the perfect pro-woman, pro-life contrast to Barbara Boxer. The Susan B. Anthony List is dedicating significant resources in the final two weeks of the primary to educate CA voters about Fiorina's strong pro-life position and ability to beat Boxer in November.

California is burdened with two female Senators who claim to represent women by pushing their radical, pro- abortion agenda, yet polling clearly shows that more and more Americans are calling themselves pro-life. Carly Fiorina is uniquely poised to be a leader for the unborn and for women in the U.S. Senate, ushering in a new brand of 'feminism' that harkens back to its roots in the suffragettes and recognizes that the rights of one are not built on the broken rights of another.

The June 8th CA Republican rimary will determine who will challenge 18-year pro-abortion incumbent Senator Barbara Boxer in the general election. As the EMILY'S List-endorsed candidate, Senator Boxer is the most aggressive champion of abortion rights in Congress and makes a Fiorina match-up ideal in the upcoming general election.

The SBA List plans to spend $6 million on voter education in the midterm elections, including $3 million on key Senate races, $1 million in bundled direct candidate contributions from SBA List members and $1 million on its plan to target "pro-life" Democrats who voted for abortion funding in the health care bill.

OK 6th state to opt out of taxpayer-funded abortion

WASHINGTON, May 24, 2010/Standard Newswire --

Today, the OK legislature cleared a final legislative hurdle and will now send a bill to the Governor to opt the state out of the abortion mandate created by the new federal health care law. Americans United for Life applauds the Oklahoma legislature for becoming the 6th state to opt out.

"More than 70% of voters oppose the use of public funds for abortion; that's why the state-by-state opt out movement continues to gain momentum," said AUL spokesman Matthew Faraci. "OK's leadership on this issue serves as an example to other states looking to pass similar laws."

So far, the opt-out bills in AZ and TN have become law and bills in FL, MS, and MO are pending action by the states' governors.

Autism, Genetic Testing, Abortion and Prevention (Part I)

Prophets are usually derided as madmen, and I'm sure that I'll come in for a pounding on this one in some quarters. Research into the etiology autism's explosion is accelerating. Molecular biologists are looking for genetic markers that can explain what's at the root of this dilemma. Having written on this before (see here), I stated that God is giving us a second chance at getting it right after what we have done with Down Syndrome babies, 93% of whom are aborted.

The numbers don't look good for autism, and an abortion holocaust is brewing for them as well, one that is going to dwarf the Down Syndrome holocaust in comparison. The numbers are staggering....

"Bella" star Eduardo Verastegui to host United for Life conference in LA

LOS ANGELES, May 20, 2010/Christian Newswire --

Actor, producer and human rights advocate Eduardo Verástegui is hosting the first- ever Latino United for Life Family Congress on Sunday, May 23, 2010, from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The United for Life congress is a project of Manto de Guadalupe, an international aid organization that promotes human dignity throughout the world and brings relief to those suffering extreme poverty. Manto de Guadalupe's includes building homes, delivering food and medicine, and providing lifesaving assistance to impoverished pregnant women.

"The funds raised through our United for Life Family Congress will be used to open a medical center in Los Angeles that provides free, high-quality care for pregnant women and their pre-born babies," stated Eduardo Verástegui, referencing a goal of the first- ever event.

"The Guadalupe Medical Center will be located in an area that has 10 abortion facilities. Therefore, our center will be an oasis of life in the midst of a desert of death," Verástegui observed. "Just as Latinos have had their dignity undermined by negative stereotypes in the media, so too have pre-born babies had their dignity denied since the controversial 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision. It is the mission of Manto de Guadalupe to promote the dignity of the human person with a special focus on restoring honor and dignity to Latinos--from the child in her father's arms to the child in her mother's womb, from the embryo to the elderly."

The line-up of entertainers includes singers Emmanuel and Alexander Acha, Mariachi Sol de Mexico, impersonator Gilberto Gless, and actress Karyme Lozano. Speakers include former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson and the vibrant young Australian actor Nick Vujicic. Vujicic was born without limbs, but inspires people throughout the world with his powerful witness to the goodness, dignity and beauty of life. He and Verástegui co-starred in the award- winning short film, The Butterfly Circus.

Jason Jones, founder of the Human rights Education and Relief Organization (HERO), will speak as well. Verástegui and Jones have collaborated on many missions promoting the dignity and beauty of the human person, including bringing a message of hope and redemption to prison inmates in TX and delivering lifesaving supplies to the poor in Darfur, Sudan.

"The threat to innocent life isn't limited to the poorest nations. We need to be vigilant in promoting the dignity and incomparable worth of every human person right where we are," stated Verástegui. "Join us at the United for Life family congress. Unity equals strength and strength is the power behind positive change."

Truth Truck, investigators, and protesters to expose Planned Parenthood in IA

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA, May 19, 2010 /Christian Newswire --

Operation Rescue will send a Truth Truck and staff members to Cedar Rapids, IA, this week to participate in a press conference and protest of Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, at a banquet featuring Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

OR also released a letter it received from the IA Board of Medicine stating that the Board is investigating complaints against PPH for violations regarding "telemed abortions."

"Telemed abortions" involve the distribution of dangerous abortion pills at remote clinics via teleconferencing hookup. After the patient has a brief conversation over the Internet with an abortionist who could be hundreds of miles away, a button is pushed that opens a drawer containing the abortion drugs. No licensed physician ever personally examines the women at any time during the entire abortion process, which can be extremely painful and lasts several days.

View the letter confirming the matter is under investigation.

The press conference and protest are being organized by the Pro-life Action League of Chicago, IL.

Operation Rescue Investigator Tara Shaver, who helped uncover Planned Parenthood's telemed abortion scheme, will be on hand and available for interview at the press conference and protest that will take place in Cedar Rapids on Thursday, May 20, 2010.

  • 4:30 p.m. Rally and press conference in the St. Pius X Church parking lot
  • 5:00 p.m. Protest outside Cedar Rapids Marriott at 1200 Collins Road NE

Other PP organizations in several states are currently under investigation for concealing child rape. In KS, Planned Parenthood faces 107 criminal charges related to illegal late-term abortions.

"Cecile Richards has a lot to answer for. Not only is her organization responsible for the largest number of abortions in the U.S., but it is also suspected of committing crimes all across the nation," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "The protest is really a public service because women need to be aware of the dangers to life and limb that lurk at Planned Parenthood. Women are being injured, babies are dying, and crimes are being committed. Planned Parenthood has run amok long enough."

My story.....David now has a voice

Printed with permission from Judy Charest, Nashville, TN

I know there is a law against coerced abortions....on the books anyway. This is my story of what happened to me in April of 1972. I know there are countless others, who like me, have been forced into an abortion. My story is unfortunately not unique.

I was a 16 year old girl from Nashville in a long term relationship with my boyfriend Steve, and living with my mother and step father. My mother was very ill and my stepfather made all the family decisions. When I found out I was pregnant, I knew my step father would force me to have an abortion. But Steve and I had a plan. We hid the pregnancy until I was past the stage for abortions, or so we thought. We managed to hide it until I was 5 1/2 months along. Just as we thought, my step father took me to a doctor for an abortion. He told my father I was too far along so we thought our baby was safe.

The Bishop, The Nun, The Mother and Child

In the case of the latae sententiae excommunication (automatic excommunication by one's formal participation) of Sister Margaret McBride, administrator at St. Joseph's Hospital, Phoenix, AZ, who approved the abortion of an 11-week baby because the mother was suffering from the often fatal condition in pregnancy of Pulmonary Hypertension (PHT), we simply do not know all of the facts to hold a rational discussion.

So I propose that we do just that as the antidote to the vitriol that has swept the web these past few days: Hold a rational discussion.

What we do know is this: An 11-week pregnant woman suffering from pulmonary hypertension was deemed in need of an abortion to keep the developing pregnancy from killing her. It's a serious matter. The abnormally high pressure in the narrowed arteries of the lung make the heart work harder at pumping blood. The prognosis is usually poor, but there are several medications available to treat the condition.

We know nothing beyond that. How critical was this woman was remains open to speculation. Whether or not the doctors tried to treat her medically is also unknown.

An attorney once told me that bad cases make bad law. This is such a case in the realm of Catholic bioethics.

All of that said, we do have enough information to sketch out a plausible series of steps that a Catholic hospital administrator might consider for future related cases. ...

    Abortion Hurts Men

I was so blessed [in April] to attend the Wisconsin Right to Life Convention in Stevens Point. It was certainly one of my favorite speaking experiences thus far for many reasons. First off, the convention was fantastic and focused on issues on the forefront of the pro-life movement: the use of social media and technology in the pro-life movement and politics, euthanasia and assisted suicide, the eugenic legacy of Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, and the importance of voting in the 2010 elections. The speakers included Alex Schadenberg, from the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition; Angela Franks, author of Margaret Sanger's Eugenic Legacy; and Karen Cross, Political Director of the National Right to Life Committee. Mike Spielman, from Abort73.com (great ministry, website and pro-life materials on their site by the way: http:/www.abort73.com), was also present, and led the group in prayer.

Executive Director of Wisconsin Right to Life, Barbara Lyons, and Chapter Director, Doreen Shirek, along with Joleigh Little, Director of Wisconsin Teens for Life and former NRLC staff member, and many others helped to make the day truly special for both the young people present and the adults. If you don't yet follow the work that Wisconsin Right to Life does, including amazing pro-life camps for young people, please check out their website at: http://www.wrtl.org. You can even subscribe to their updates. Make no bones about it, Wisconsin Right to Life is a true leader in the pro-life movement-don't miss out on keeping up with what they're doing!

Video: Obama Picketed at U of M

Citizens for a Pro-life Society showed up in force and picketed President Barack Obama (due to his advocacy of legalized killing of the unborn--of course!) during the May 1, 2010 commencement at the University of Michigan. As this--engaging, entertaining and SHORT video shows--the graduation event was a GREAT opportunity for pro-lifers to reveal the truth about abortion--stir up conversations and controversy--and we believe, help many people to think about the injustice of abortion. Please take a look.

    The Knocking at the Door!

He is waiting, waiting for the knocking at the door. While all around him he feels a warmth, a feeling of security, a sense of being and the closeness of belonging. And yet he knows there is more, more than this so he waits patiently for the knocking at the door. Sounds, not to distant flood his world and he feels the outside through the inner darkness. A gentle softness flows over him and lulls him to sleep and he dreams, dreams of the knocking at the door. Suddenly he wakes, wakes to the knocking at the door. And in an instant the door is shattered and the warmth that surrounds him flows away and a alien claw grips him and the pain pierces his very being as he is pulled from his sheltered world. A brief blinding light flashes only for moment before a cold dark eternity settles over him.

Doctor A. Borson looks over the sheet at the young woman lying on his table and smiles as he says, "now that wasn't all that bad was it". She manages a slight smile and in a subdued voice says, "no". The doctor removes his bloody gloves as he stands and turns to the nurse asking, "how many more do we have today"? She replies, "four". "Good" he says as he walks out the door. The nurse then reaches to the pan on the floor and picks it up while placing her foot at the base of the container marked "Hazard: Medical Waste", pushing the small black pedal down the white top opens and she dumps in the lifeless mass of bone and tissue.

Just another day in the clinic. Just another day in the progressive world of modern day America. Just another baby thrown on the trash pile of a liberal ideology, one who will never know the love on the other side of that door. And in the waiting room of Dr A. Borson four more unsuspecting victims are waiting, waiting for "THE KNOCKING AT THE DOOR"!

    We are more pro-life ...

    abortion-views-18-29.gif

    Good news::

A new Gallup poll released Friday showed that slightly more Americans call themselves pro-life than pro-choice, continuing a trend of a more pro-life sentiment among Americans that began last year.
According to the poll, which surveyed 1,029 adults May 3 - 6, 47% of Americans are pro-life, while 45% are pro-choice.
Excellent, especially because the numbers represent an increase in the number of young people who identify themselves as "pro-life".  So, this is good news but (there always seems to be a "but") ...

Despite the increase in pro-life sentiment, the poll found that the number of Americans who view abortion as morally wrong actually dropped. In 2009, 56% of Americans found abortion as morally wrong, while in 2010, 50% found it morally wrong.
The one-year 6% swing is suspect as is the apparent differentiation of the meaning of the word "pro-life" from the belief that abortion is immoral.  In other words, there seems to be an inherent contradiction in the conclusion that Americans are more pro-life but few think abortion is wrong.

    Updates:

According to Gallup, all age groups ("with particularly large increases among young adults and those aged 50 to 64 years") and both genders are trending pro-life as well ("with the increase among women coming mainly since 2008, whereas the increase in men started after 2006").

Pro-aborts are losing in the areas that really matter to them: Young people, who would be their future supporters/voters/activists; women, for obvious reasons; and the elderly, who are reliable voters.

Also, check out the LiveActionBlog's post on the trend among American young adults (HT: image above).

A Beautiful Story ... child saved

Earlier today Jill published a beautiful must-read letter sent in by a reader:

When we got to the intersection, I stopped to ask what business they were looking for, and the young mother explained to me that she was pregnant and "needed" to have an abortion. I told her that my mother couldn't keep me when I was born, but instead gave me up for adoption. I asked her to please not have an abortion, and to follow me to a better place with more choices for her.
...By the grace of God, they followed a complete stranger. I got all 3 of them inside, and as I left, the nurse was coming out to give them counseling

    Google's Spy Game

    google_spy_cam.jpg

A brief departure from our life oriented topics to say that technology advances have made possible the aggregation of personal details few imagined:

Google Inc. said an internal investigation has discovered that the roving vans the company uses to create its online mapping services were mistakenly collecting data about websites people were visiting over wireless networks.
It was a "mistake" after the public uproar....

For years, Google has used its squadron of Street View cars to capture both imagery and 3D geometry for Google Maps and data about Wi-Fi networks that it uses in its geolocation-enabled apps. It's been a controversial practice. And on April 27, the company published a blog post to clear up misconceptions about its practices.

There certainly is a backlash against Google, a private company that could profit from the marketing information contained in the depository of WIFI data.

Although I'm leery of Google and how the information might be used, I have to ask, "How much more does the American public have to worry about such data in the hands of the federal government, an every growing bureaucracy filled with individuals motivated by self-interest, power and prestige?"

Adult Stem Cells Heal a Child's Trachea

Technologies based upon adult stems cells - the kind that don't involve the destruction of a human embryo - continue to find both application and success in the real-world. Here's the latest:

In a world first in children, British and Italian doctors have transplanted a new airway (trachea) into a child and used the child's own stem cells, in the body, to rebuild it.

The donated trachea was stripped of the donor's old cells, down to the inert collagen. The child recipient's bone marrow stem cells were collected, and applied to the graft in situ in the body, to rebuild the cellular component of the trachea. Thus the child's own cells will be used to make the new airway sealed and effective.

This is the first time that this has been performed in a child. It is also the first time the entire length of the trachea has been transplanted.

The application of this technology should reduce greatly the risk of rejection of the new trachea, as the child's stem cells will not generate any immune response.

MO becomes 5th state to opt out of taxpayer-funded abortion

Washington, DC/ May 14, 2010/ Americans United for Life -

Today, Americans United for Life was victorious in the passage of SB 793, a MO bill which will prohibit insurance plans participating in new state health insurance exchanges from providing abortion coverage. The bill also enhances the state's existing informed consent law to ensure that women receive essential information about health risks and alternatives before choosing abortion.

"Today, the people of MO are closer than ever to a new law that prevents taxpayer-funded abortion," said Mary Harned, Staff Counsel with AUL. "This outstanding bill also contains important protections for women in the state who have a right to know that they face serious health risks when choosing abortion."

AUL has been working in the state of MO for more than 3 years to ensure that women considering abortion are provided essential information and given the option to see an ultrasound image before undergoing abortions. In addition, the bill provides that women contemplating abortion after 20 weeks be given information on the possibility of unborn children feeling pain during abortion.

SB 793 now goes to Gov. Nixon for consideration.

Tax funding of abortionists facing criminal charges must stop

    Topeka, KS/ May 12, 2010/ Operation Rescue --

For the second year in a row, the KS legislature has passed the Huelskamp Amendment that would stop tax dollars from funding Planned Parenthood in KS. This particular PP currently faces 107 criminal charges - 23 of which are felonies - all related to the commission of illegal late-term abortions.

Right now, Planned Parenthood is getting hundreds of thousands of tax dollars each year from the state of KS even though it stands accused of over a hundred counts of criminal conduct.

It's shocking but true. Without our tax dollars, this Planned Parenthood would struggle to say in business.

In fact, last year, Gov. Mark Parkinson, an avid abortion supporter, not only vetoed this budget amendment, but increased Planned Parenthood's funding by a outrageous 21.1%. He did so even after two pro-life legislators released an undercover audio recording provided by Operation Rescue that showed Planned Parenthood was still willing to violate the law by concealing an incident of child rape and even handing over birth control pills to help the rapist cover up his crimes!

To add insult to injury, Parkinson then completely defunded pro-life pregnancy help centers, just to insure that struggling abortion mills stayed in business.

This year, KS is so cash-strapped that it is raising taxes to burdensome new levels - all so they can give abortionists at Planned Parenthood another raise.

"This gross injustice - not to mention the lack of common sense on behalf of political hacks that are in bed with the abortion lobby - makes me sick with 'righteous indignation,'" said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "We simply cannot allow that happen again this year."

The Huelskamp Amendment, introduced by pro-life hero Sen. Tim Huelskamp, has passed the legislature and now sits on Parkinson's desk awaiting his signature.

It is imperative that members of the public contact Gov. Parkinson's office today and ask him to allow the Huelskamp Amendment to become law.

Please call the Governor's Office toll free at (877) 579-6757 or e-mail him.

"It is simply unconscionable that the taxpayers should be burdened with footing the bill for Planned Parenthood's baby-killing business - especially while it is facing over 100 serious criminal charges related to illegal late-term abortions," said Newman. "Please call or write Gov. Parkinson today!"

New Stanek WND.com column, "No compromise on female genital mutilation"

    WND%20logo.gif

Looking back on my days as a labor and delivery RN, deliveries of babies to Middle Eastern couples were the hardest.

There was the husband who tried to order me not to let his wife have an epidural.

And there was the 30-something-year-old married to his 15-year-old first cousin who was aborting their (not surprisingly) handicapped baby.

Then there was the laboring mother who had been the victim of female genital mutilation.

FGM is a custom found primarily in Asian and African Muslim countries... but it is coming to America.

    fgm tools.jpg

There are 4 types of FGM, according to the World Health Organization...

The mother I was delivering had been maimed by the worst, "infibulation," so her delivery was somewhat of a perennial massacre. It was awful.

Traditionally, feminists have strongly opposed FGM, along with all of Western civilization.

But in this new age of cultural sensitivity, attempts are being made to bridge the divide, not necessarily end the barbaric practice of FGM....

8 Questions for SCOTUS nominee Elena Kagan

    NY, May 11, 2010 - Christian Newswire--

Yesterday, President Obama nominated Elena Kagan to a seat on the Supreme Court.

Robert Peters, President of Morality in Media prepared the following 8 questions about the First Amendment that could be asked during her confirmation hearing:

    • In your view, is the First Amendment a "living clause" to be interpreted in any way that 5 or more Justices can agree on, regardless of what that Amendment meant historically and of what legislative bodies and the public think?
    • In your view, is the Constitution's grant of life tenure to Supreme Court Justices intended to shield Justices who apply the First Amendment in accordance with its historical meaning, regardless of what legislative bodies and the public think, or to shield Justices who interpret that Amendment in any way that 5 or more Justices can agree on, regardless of what that Amendment meant historically and of what legislative bodies and the public think?

    • In your view, was former Chief Justice Warren correct when he said there is a "right of the Nation and of the States to maintain a decent society" (378 U.S. 184, 199), or do you agree with the ACLU that there is a "right of the pornographers and of the entertainment media to maintain open moral sewers in our Nation's communities and homes?"

    • In your view, is the First Amendment intended to protect the right of citizens to discuss and debate the controversial issue of "pornography," or do you agree with the ACLU that the Amendment provides persons with a right to distribute pornography, including obscenity and child pornography?

    • In your view, is the First Amendment intended to protect the right of women to take off their clothes in public places for the purpose of sexually arousing patrons?

    • In your view, is the First Amendment intended to provide adults with a right to disseminate sexual and violent content that is harmful to minors without any legal obligation to restrict minors' access?

    • In your view, should the First Amendment be interpreted to "cripple the regular work of government" (412 U.S. 94, 102-03), which includes maintaining a decent society and protecting morality, public safety, family life, the home and children?

    • In your view, is there a "danger that, if the Court does not temper its doctrinaire logic with a little practical wisdom, it will convert the constitutional Bill of Rights into a suicide pact" (337 U.S. 1, 37)?

Troubling Indications: Kagan's activist approach to law

NRLC Legislative Director Douglas Johnson comments on the Supreme Court nomination of Elena Kagan.

On April 21, 2010, President Obama used thinly veiled code language to communicate his clear intent to choose a nominee who would be hostile to legislative attempts to protect unborn humans. The President stated that he wanted someone "who is going to be interpreting our Constitution in a way that takes into account . . . women's rights," and that this was going to be "very important" to him as he viewed our "core Constitution" as protecting the "bodily integrity" of women.

In light of the President's stated intent, senators have an obligation to probe whether Elena Kagan will tolerate limits on abortion, enacted through normal democratic channels, or will seek to impose extreme pro-abortion views by judicial decree. Ms. Kagan herself argued forcefully in 1995, in a lengthy book review published in the University of Chicago Law Review, that such inquiries by senators are a legitimate and necessary part of the confirmation process.

Gripping Pro-Life Novel Seeks to Change Hearts and Minds

Pro-life activist and author Daniel Gura has published what appears to be a gripping story about abortion and the spiritual warfare being waged in America today - God's Avenger:

MODERN STEELS AND concrete office towers don't just collapse, yet everyone was staring at one that looked as if someone had sat on it--someone really big--and that didn't make any sense.

Gura ponders how the arrival of Archangel Michael will forever change the lives of the characters in his novel, including an abortionist, the President of the Council of Women, a Pastor at Large, and Senior Building Inspector Fred McBarker.

Add talk radio conspiracy theories, city bureaucrats fighting the truth, and scores of genuine believers who put themselves on the line, and you'll find a story that is as enthralling as it is unforgettable.

Gura weaves pro-life fervor through an electrifying story of an avenging angel who answers righteous imprecatory prayers by delivering true justice. Yet the story has an intrinsic irony and situational humor that brings a smile and wraps itself around your heart. The issue is timely, the characters are fascinating, and Gura's style is spellbinding.
Gura comments, "My dream is that God's Avenger: Michael, the Imprecatory Angel will have an effect on America's conscience similar to the way Uncle Tom's Cabin changed America's attitude towards slavery."

I've bought my copy and am looking forward to an excellent read!  Thanks Dan Gura!

    Operation Rescue Opposes Kagan Nomination

Operation Rescue opposes the nomination of Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court and releases the following statement attributable to Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue.

Elena Kagan's support for abortion and her predisposition for judicial activism makes her a poor selection. We need a justice that will uphold the Constitution, not rewrite it though judicial activism. It is clear that as long as Obama is president, we cannot expect anything other than the nomination of radical liberal pro-aborts, even though those with that political philosophy and agenda are opposed by the majority of the American people.

Yoest: Kagan a 'stealth candidate' with 'fill-in-the-blank' approach to law

    WASHINGTON, May 10, 2010/Christian Newswire --

Americans United for Life (President and CEO, Dr. Charmaine Yoest, called for US Senators to reject Solicitor General Elena Kagan's appointment to the high court, because "Americans do not support a radical abortion-rights activist taking a fill-in-the-blank approach to the US Constitution."

The head of the nation's premier pro-life legal team noted that AUL has done extensive research on Kagan's background which will be released in the coming days for the media's use.

Today's Kagan Brief is available here.

Yoest made the following comments: "President Obama has chosen another activist who seeks to reshape the traditional understanding of the Constitution to suit her personal views. Kagan has been open in her admiration of activist judges who re- write the law to suit themselves and advocated that judges 'advance' social policy rather than faithfully applying the law.

"Today's AUL analysis shows that Kagan has contributed money to the National Partnership for Women and Families, a pro-choice organization with strong ties to Emily's List and NARAL. She is an ardent abortion supporter, even arguing the federal government is subsidizing 'anti-abortion speech' when, in Title X, the federal government is prohibited from referring women for abortion. Ironically, her free speech sentiments do not extend to critics of aggressive activism. She has referred to those who call for respect and adherence to the Constitution 'irresponsible' and asserted that their criticism was 'harmful to our constitutional system and to the value of a judiciary.

"We know that Kagan embraces judicial activism and abortion-on-demand. It's how she will turn her views into law that is hidden to the American people. Kagan is a stealth candidate; a woman with an open and extreme philosophy but no track record on how she will implement her own judicial activism. Obama is taking too great a risk with America's future with the Kagan pick."

    AUL on Kagan's Nomination

Americans United for Life underscores President Barack Obama's pro-abortion litmus test for the Supreme Court:

President Obama said he wanted a Supreme Court candidate who interprets the Constitution as protecting individual rights, particularly abortion rights. Solicitor General Elena Kagan--an ardent abortion supporter--more than fits the ticket. Kagan not only publicly and repeatedly criticized federal regulations that prohibited recipients of Title X family planning funds from counseling on or referring women for abortions, she argued that the regulations amounted to the subsidization of 'anti-abortion' speech.
Kagan will further entrench the Court's self-appointed role as the sole arbiter of abortion policy because she believes the role of judges is to 'advance' social policy rather than faithfully apply the law. Kagan is so admiring of judicial activists that she sought to silence critics of activist judges, attacking them as 'irresponsible' and asserting that their criticism was 'harmful to our constitutional system and to the value of a judiciary.'
A Kagan nomination means more power to the Supreme Court to make and impose personal policy and radical beliefs, robbing Americans of the ability to keep law making to themselves and their representatives.

Dr. Charmaine Yoest commented, "Elena Kagan has strong ties to abortion-advocacy organizations and expressed admiration for activist judges who have worked to advance social policy rather than to impartially interpret the law. Americans United for Life will oppose President Obama's attempt to reshape the Court as an activist, pro-abortion institution through which unelected judges will work to impose an out-of-the-mainstream social agenda upon the American people."

Elena Kagan - Obama's Supreme Court Nominee

    elena_kagan.jpg

If it were not for the oil spill, the most popular news topic would probably be President Barack Obama's pick for the Supreme Court. The news on the street is that Solicitor General Elena Kagan will get the nod:

President Barack Obama will nominate U.S. Solicitor General Elena Kagan to serve as an associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, NBC News' Pete Williams reported late Sunday night.

Kagan, 50, served as the Dean of Harvard Law School from 2003 to 2009. Obama nominated her to serve in her current post as solicitor general early in 2009, and she won Senate confirmation by a vote of 61-31. She is the first woman to serve as solicitor general of the United States.

She was widely viewed as a front-runner when Obama was considering candidates for a Supreme Court opening last year, but the president ultimately chose Sonia Sotomayor for the job.

Recall that it was Barack Obama who voted against and blocked legislation that would have protected infants who were born alive following an unsuccessful abortion (he took a leadership role to kill it).   He also vowed to nominate Supreme Court justices that support Roe v Wade and voted against the highly qualified Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito.

As a result, a radical pro-abortion nominee by Obama is really not a surprise

Americans United for Life has done the research

The current Solicitor General (SG) of the United States, Elena Kagan is a former clerk for Justice Thurgood Marshall (1987-1988) and former Dean of Harvard Law School (2003-2009).  Kagan has publicly and repeatedly criticized Rust v. Sullivan (1991 Supreme Court case upholding federal regulations on Title X family planning funds) as allowing the subsidization of "anti-abortion" speech.  As a law clerk, she also authored a memo stating that faith-based groups that operate pregnancy care centers should be excluded from counseling pregnant teens.

    Caring to Death

    By Judie Brown

When the word "care" is used, I think immediately of some of the finest pro-life charitable works of mercy in the world. Organizations such as Care Net come to mind and, on the international scale, MaterCare International, an organization dedicated to the care of mothers and babies, both born and preborn, through new initiatives of service, training, research and advocacy, which are designed to reduce the tragically high rates of maternal mortality, morbidity and abortion.

The founder of MaterCare International, Dr. Robert L. Walley, MPH (Harvard), executive director and honorary research professor of obstetrics and gynecology, testified during a hearing of the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs:

Some 200 million women are pregnant worldwide each year. Most mothers deliver in villages without access to safe, clean facilities in which to deliver and without a trained person to assist them. Most maternal deaths occur during the last trimester and in the first week following delivery. Prior to going to Nigeria in 1981, I had never been present or had a mother die under my care from a direct obstetrical cause. Maternal deaths in Canada are at the level of what is called irreducible minimums, 1/100.000 live births. However, in the mission hospital maternal deaths were almost a daily event and I recall one weekend during which there were four deaths of mothers who had arrived at the hospital in extremis from hemorrhage, one in agony from obstructed labor, and another after days in labor with a ruptured uterus as she was young and consequently her pelvis was too small. Others would arrive unconscious due to pregnancy-induced hypertension or suffering from malaria, or severe anemia resulting from malnutrition. Many more mothers die in Africa alone and in terror in the villages, as they have no way of getting to the hospital. Not only are the lives of these mothers abruptly ended but also the lives of their babies and, in the aftermath, the chances of survival of their young children decrease dramatically, resulting in the disintegration of their families.
The situation for these mothers, their babies and their families is indeed a cause of much concern for the entire, worldwide pro-life community, as well it should be. This is why I was very interested to hear of CARE's National Conference being held in Washington, D.C. next week on May 11 and 12. But my initial hopes were dashed as I began to read a bit more about this meeting. This celebration, designed to bring women together from around the world to fight global poverty, has an underlying theme that is not readily apparent to the casual observer.

A quick scan of the agenda tells the real story. The keynote speech is to be delivered by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton--no friend of the preborn. And, throughout the event, other known proponents of abortion, birth control and sterilization will be featured. The bottom line, it would seem, is population control, not "care" in the sense one might think.

CARE describes itself as an organization that defends dignity and fights poverty. It has been in the business of helping the poor for many years and works with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in 66 countries. All of the public relations material about this organization sound good, but at least some of what it promotes is not good for mothers, expectant mothers and the future generations in the third world. Just below the surface of these fine-sounding words, one detects the same old problems that have plagued the third world for many years when the USA gets involved, and that is so-called reproductive health programs. CARE is certainly no exception.

    AUL Honors Boehner

On May 5th, Americans United for Life presented House Republican Leader John A. Boehner with its 2010 Henry J. Hyde Defender of Life Award. Dr. Charmaine Yoest, President and CEO of Americans United for Life, recognized Leader Boehner both for his extraordinary leadership in the fight to prevent taxpayer-funded abortion at the federal level and for his unheralded pro-life work in his home state of Ohio.

"To get this award tonight named after Rep. Henry Hyde is really important. I want to thank Americans United for Life for all of the work that you're doing," Boehner told the audience."Not just all of the work that I saw you doing during the health care battle over the last six months but for all of the work that I've seen over the years working with Members to develop the pro-life riders that we have in the appropriations process and the work that is being done today in state legislatures around the country."

Leader Boehner was joined at this ceremony by Congressional colleagues including Representatives Trent Franks (R-AZ), Chris Smith (R-NJ), and Dan Lipinski (D-IL). The event was also attended by pro-life leaders and activists, noted journalists, and leading bloggers.

The Henry J. Hyde Defender of Life Award was established to honor the legacy of Representative Henry J. Hyde (1924-2007). Hyde, former Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, was a renowned pro-life leader and author of the original Hyde Amendment. Representative Hyde also served as Honorary Chairman at Americans United for Life. Each year, this prestigious award is presented to an elected official who demonstrates outstanding leadership in the cause of Life.

    Taps...Taps...Taps...Taps...

    Taps...Taps...Taps...Taps...

Mother's Day is Sunday, and if you aren't an aborted baby, then you might want to thank your mom for being pro-life. Make sure you don't do it the Planned Parenthood way.

I read this story on LifeNews.com. Looks like Planned Parenthood wants to use Mother's Day as another
way to fund their killing ways:

"It's almost Mother's Day ... and if you have a mother in your life who's anything like me or my mom, then you know nothing would make her happier than a gift that represents bold and compassionate values. Like a gift in her honor to Planned Parenthood Federation of America."
    - From their annual Mother's Day fundraising missive.

Pretty sad that they take a respectful holiday that celebrates motherhood and twists it into a way to raise un-responsible funds for the nation's largest abortion provider.

Oh, and you know that Planned Parenthood founder, Margaret Sanger? Stick a microphone in front of her and you'll likely get some kind of sickening quote that turns your stomach quicker than last night's meatloaf: I lifted these from Bryan Kemper's blog, (www.bryankemper.com) thanks Bryan:

"The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it."

"Couples should be required to submit applications to have a child"

"The purpose in promoting birth control was to create a race of thoroughbreds,"

"More children from the fit, less from the unfit -- that is the chief aim of birth control."

"We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population"

"When motherhood becomes the fruit of a deep yearning, not the result of ignorance or accident, its children will become the foundation of a new race."
All from the mouth of Sanger. I think she needs a bar of soap to wash out that mouth.

She's like a jukebox that plays one tune: Taps.

New Stanek column: "The slimy task of pro-abort men"

    WND%20logo.gif

The April 29 issue of Newsweek featured a conversation among liberal feminists about the future of the abortion movement.

Surprising to me was a recurring lament about the shortage of outspoken pro-abort men. Hasn't the mantra for almost 40 years been, "My body, my choice"?

Only last week pro-abort FL Rep. Janet Long told fellow legislators to "stand down if you don't have ovaries" when voting on a bill requiring mothers seeking abortions to undergo ultrasounds.

    pro-life man.jpg

The message has been loud and clear ("hear me roar") that if you don't have female reproductive organs, you have no say in abortion either personally or corporately....

I have no preconceived assumptions about pro-life men. I know exactly what kind of men they are. They are stand-up, not stand-down men. They respect women. They love children. They take responsibility. They are protective.

Unlike pro-abort men, pro-life men have no selfish stock in the pro-life movement. They don't exploit women as sex objects where consequences are dealt away with.

    eric and jeff.jpg

I love pro-life men. They bring valuable, unique God-given gifts to the table to help in the abortion battle.

Feminists have no trouble bragging about strengths women have that men don't, but they cannot admit men have strengths women don't. I have no problem there....

Pro-lifer Gerard Nadal commented on my blog:

... It's easier being a pro-life male. We get to be and act like men ought. And we get great women who aren't at war with their own nature, which means they aren't at war with the men who complement that nature and whose nature is complemented by women's....
