Presidential Thanksgivings

President Barack Obama replicated fmr President George W. Bush's Thanksgiving proclamation but scrubbed who to be thankful to (i.e., God who blessed our Nation's first days) and His gift of life. - Jill Stanek

As an attitude of the heart, Thanksgiving is not ambient or spontaneous but is directional and conditional. You really have to be thankful for something and thankful to someone. In that first Thanksgiving Day proclamation then President George Washington set the standard citing the blessings of the Almighty God as the foundation for today's national holiday.
