Why Does Obama Need A Civilian National Security Force?

During the presidential campaign Barack Obama said the following:

"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Why does Barrack Obama need a civilian national security force? What are the national security objectives? Who is threatening this country from within? It's basically anybody who disagrees with him.

First, there's the obvious enemy, Rush Limbaugh. The Left controls the White House, the Congress, almost all the media, but they are totally obsessed with Rush Limbaugh. They just don't have a spine to accept anyone who has a dissenting opinion.

Next is Fox News, or as Obama calls them, "the cable channels." Glenn Beck on Fox this past week pursued this civilian army subject in great detail. He asked for the White House to clarify their position, but they had no response. In fact, Fox daily has opposing opinions on shows such as The Factor and Hannity. Much of their other news is pretty much down the middle, something that is not acceptable to Obama and the Left (sounds like a fifties doo-wop group).

Sarah Palin is in a class all by herself that the civilian force must deal with. Why do they even bother with her since they basically said she was inconsequential when running with McCain. They basically claimed she was a mayor from some dinky town and a short-term governor of a state that had more moose than people. The liberals are fairly ignorant when dealing with her. She mentions "death panels" on her Facebook page, and instead of shutting up about it they go berserk and the whole nation latches on to the term. Gee - I don't know if a whole civilian army would be able to stop her.

The army must be used to stop regular citizens from voicing their opinions at town hall meetings. Well, that has already started. Within days after Obama made the announcement that those opposed should just stop talking and move out of the way, the union thugs came in droves to the town halls. Their mission was basically to intimidate the everyday folks. His Service Employees International Union Army must stop these disgruntled senior terrorists NOW!

The primary group that Obama wants to send his army after is the pro-lifers. I believe President Obama thinks this is one of the most despicable groups around. Why? Because they are effective in community pro-life displays or doing sidewalk counseling in front of one of his favorite businesses - Planned Parenthood. I'm 100% convinced he will send his thugs to disrupt any pro-life display. Another goal is to control content on the internet, which will undoubtedly include pro-life sites. He already developed the snitch website flag@whitehouse.gov to report on information about the health care bill that seemed fishy. There's a bill that would give the president emergency control of non-governmental sites if there is a cyber-security threat.

Why are pro-lifers such a threat? Because they have the truth on their side when it pertains to the unborn. I believe deep down the liberals led by Obama know that abortion is just the killing of an innocent baby, but they just can't handle the truth. The health care debate is obviously about control of people, and Obama is using health care as a vehicle to obtain that control. The unborn are easiest to control because they have no way to voice their disapproval of being killed. Those who speak for them are a force that must be destroyed. He will go beyond the usual union thugsters and recruit regular non-union citizens to join the civilian army to stamp this movement out.

President Obama is banking on the fact that the vast majority of Americans will quietly sit by and let their government do whatever they want. We have a history of protests in this country, but realistically it's usually a very few Americans protesting. Most just go about their daily routine of being good citizens, raising their family, going to work, school, and church. Obama and the Left didn't expect the negative reaction they received during the town hall meetings. These average Americans spoke out, so Obama did what every good liberal is supposed to do - attack the ones speaking out. They have called town hall attendees unruly mobs, swastika carrying mobs, brown shirts, racists, stupid, blah, blah, blah.

Americans need to keep strongly opposing this administration's attempt to control every aspect of their lives, especially our constitutional right to voice our opinion. This requires a thick skin because they will attack, attack, attack. The best way to look at it is that the more they attack, the more effective you must have been. Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin have been demonized on a daily basis, but they have a backbone and keep speaking out. The usual quiet general populace needs to have that same mentality or otherwise Obama's civilian national security force will be controlling them.

Bob Schindler Leaves a Great Legacy

robert_schindler.jpg

We received the sad news that Bob Schindler, father of Terri Schiavo, passed away early this morning:

The family of Robert Schindler, Sr. releases the following statement:

Robert S. Schindler, Sr., of Gulfport, Florida, father of the late Terri Schindler Schiavo, passed away August 29, 2009 from heart failure at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Robert fought valiantly to save the life of his brain- injured daughter Terri in the landmark right to life case that culminated in her imposed death by court-ordered starvation and thirst on March 31, 2005. After Terri's death, along with his wife Mary, daughter Suzanne (Schindler) Vitadamo and son Bobby Schindler, he founded the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation in St. Petersburg dedicated to supporting other families faced with the same need to fight for the rights of their disabled or otherwise vulnerable loved ones.

Robert was born in Philadelphia on October 23, 1937 and was 71 years of age. Proceeded in death by his daughter Theresa Schindler. He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Suzanne Vitadamo (Michael), son Bobby Schindler and granddaughter Alexandra.

A Mass of Christian burial with visitation preceding will be scheduled to take place in Philadelphia, PA. Times and location will be announced at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation, 5562 Central Avenue, Suite 2, Saint Petersburg, FL 33707, phone (727) 490-7603.

We are quite thankful for the courageous stand Bob Schindler took against euthanasia on behalf of his daughter and the disabled.  He did not seek the limelight or controversy but responded by virtue of his love for his daughter and understanding of truth and justice.

Join me in praying for his family as they grieve the loss of their father.

Jill Stanek and LifeNews have more.

Observations Of The World We Live In, August 2009

1. If Obama doesn't care about the life of the unborn (and born baby), why should anyone think he would have a problem pulling the plug on grandma?

2. The backbone of the health care legislation is not health care, but control over people. What is abortion but total control over someone else's life? Obama is the most pro-abortion president ever, so this bill is just an extension of that belief.

3. Obama's town hall meetings are obviously staged events, and the press keeps emphasizing how well-behaved everyone is. First, the organizers are very selective on who gets to speak. Secondly, whatever one thinks about Obama, the office of the president usually gets more respect than a congressman who is directly supposed to represent a specific area.

New Stanek WND column, "Why pro-aborts went silent on healthcare"

WND%20logo.gif

At least once or twice weekly Nancy Keenan of NARAL had been sending a steady stream of "Keep anti-choice extremism out of health-care reform"-type e-mails, as was her July 28 message entitled - until Aug. 3. Nancy has now gone silent for over 2 weeks.

Same goes for Cecile Richards of Planned Parenthood, who likewise was transmitting "Anti-choice groups step up attacks on women's health"-type emails, as was the title of her July 22 dispatch - until July 24. Cecile hasn't been heard from in over 3 weeks.

On Aug. 11, President Obama unveiled his Reality Check website with nary a word about the biggest obstacle to passing health care, abortion.

Coincidental clam-ups?

No.

In her last e-mail, Cecile wrote, "[T]ell Congress that women's reproductive health care MUST be part of health-care reform."

Nancy in hers wrote, "Ask your lawmakers to oppose anti-choice attacks on health-care legislation."

Clearly, both felt their unnamed treasure trove, abortion, was in imminent danger of being aborted from health care.

Then ... silence?

The other side does nothing without a plan. The plan is to stop talking about abortion 1) in hopes the controversy will die down, and 2) to regroup and reframe the argument.

But make no mistake: Abortion is still part of the liberal plan. On Aug. 12, Cecile tweeted...

C-FAM: UN Health Data Show Liberal Abortion Laws Lead to Greater Maternal Death

Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, August 13, 2009 -
by Aracely Ornelas

The world's largest abortion provider, International Planned Parenthood Federation, has recently acknowledged an alarming "surge" in maternal deaths in South Africa, challenging the pro-abortion mantra that liberal abortion laws decrease maternal mortality. Maternal deaths increased by 20% in the period 2005-2007 in South Africa, a country that since 1996 has had one of the most permissive abortion laws on the African continent.

While deaths attributable to HIV/AIDS account for the biggest portion of maternal deaths in South Africa, IPPF acknowledges that a portion of deaths are "due to complications of abortion" in a country where the procedure is legal and widely available.

Developing countries have been badgered in recent years by various United Nations agencies and pro-abortion civil society organizations, including IPPF, to decriminalize abortion as a measure to reduce maternal mortality rates. However, the latest IPPF revelation is the latest fact in a growing body of evidence showing the opposite relationship in which legal abortion and high maternal deaths coincide.

To illustrate, the nation with the lowest African maternal mortality rate is Mauritius, according to a 2009 World Health Organization (WHO) report. Mauritius' laws are among the continent's most protective of the unborn. The report further shows how countries that have decriminalized abortion in recent years in response to pressure, such as Ethiopia, have failed to lower dramatic maternal death rates. Ethiopia's maternal death rate is 48 times higher than in Mauritius.

According to WHO, the country with the lowest maternal mortality rate in South America is Chile, which protects unborn life in its constitution. The country with the highest is Guyana, with a maternal mortality rate 30 times higher than in Chile. Guyana has allowed abortion without almost any restriction since in 1995. Ironically, one of two main justifications used in liberalizing Guyana's law was to enhance the "attainment of safe motherhood" by eliminating deaths and complications associated with unsafe abortion....

A NYS Democratic Senator, 2 Liberal Washington Post Pundits Get It Right, and So Does Palin

Guess it isn't just right-wing vast-conspirators, white racists, or nutjobs, after all:

"My original comments concerned statements made by Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, a health policy advisor to President Obama and the brother of the President's chief of staff. Dr. Emanuel has written that some medical services should not be guaranteed to those "who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens....An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia." Dr. Emanuel has also advocated basing medical decisions on a system which "produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get chances that are attenuated."

[ATTENUATED (as defined in medicine, since this is a medical doctor writing this): Weakened, diluted, thinned, reduced, weakened, diminished.]

"Dr. Emanuel is a special adviser to the budget director, Peter R. Orszag. He is also the older brother of Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff."

The Lancet, Volume 373, Issue 9661, Pages 423 - 431, 31 January 2009, Principles for allocation of scarce medical interventions. Govind Persad BS a, Alan Wertheimer PhD a, Ezekiel J Emanuel MD:

"Allocation of very scarce medical interventions such as organs and vaccines is a persistent ethical challenge. We evaluate eight simple allocation principles that can be classified into four categories: treating people equally, favouring the worst-off, maximising total benefits, and promoting and rewarding social usefulness. No single principle is sufficient to incorporate all morally relevant considerations and therefore individual principles must be combined into multiprinciple allocation systems. We evaluate three systems: the United Network for Organ Sharing points systems, quality-adjusted life-years, and disability-adjusted life-years. We recommend an alternative system--the complete lives system--which prioritises younger people who have not yet lived a complete life, and also incorporates prognosis, save the most lives, lottery, and instrumental value principles." (emphasis this author)

Lottery systems, folks. Like they're already having to do in Canada, where there is already "universal" healthcare.

Pick a number, any number, take a number and wait. Like at the deli counter at your local grocer, only add months to wait, not minutes.

Controversy: Ezekiel Emanuel wrote an article for The Hastings Center Report in 1996, in which he proposed that health care services should not be guaranteed for "individuals who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens."

Still don't want to read what Palin says because you're convinced she's an idiot? (even though you're rather the idiot if you believe what the pro-Obama media have only allowed you to learn)...

Then read these Obama-supporters and Obama-liberal newspaper pundits:

  1. THE WASHINGTON POST, Charles Lane:
Section 1233 "addresses compassionate goals in disconcerting proximity to fiscal ones.... If it's all about obviating suffering, emotional or physical, what's it doing in a measure to 'bend the curve' on health-care costs?"

"Though not mandatory, as some on the right have claimed, the consultations envisioned in Section 1233 aren't quite 'purely voluntary,' as Rep. Sander M. Levin (D-Mich.) asserts. To me, 'purely voluntary' means 'not unless the patient requests one.' Section 1233, however, lets doctors initiate the chat and gives them an incentive -- money -- to do so. Indeed, that's an incentive to insist.

"Patients may refuse without penalty, but many will bow to white-coated authority. Once they're in the meeting, the bill does permit 'formulation' of a plug-pulling order right then and there. So when Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) denies that Section 1233 would 'place senior citizens in situations where they feel pressured to sign end-of-life directives that they would not otherwise sign,' I don't think he's being realistic.

  2. WASHINGTON POST Columnist Eugene Robinson ("a self-described 'true believer' who 'will almost certainly support' 'whatever reform package finally emerges'):
"If the government says it has to control health-care costs and then offers to pay doctors to give advice about hospice care, citizens are not delusional to conclude that the goal is to reduce end-of-life spending."

  3. Democratic New York State Senator Ruben Diaz, Chairman of the New York State Senate Aging Committee:
"Section 1233 of House Resolution 3200 puts our senior citizens on a slippery slope and may diminish respect for the inherent dignity of each of their lives.... It is egregious to consider that any senior citizen ... should be placed in a situation where he or she would feel pressured to save the government money by dying a little sooner than he or she otherwise would, be required to be counseled about the supposed benefits of killing oneself, or be encouraged to sign any end of life directives that they would not otherwise sign."

"The goal is to reduce end-of-life spending."

Sounds great, doesn't it.

Except when some government insurance clerk(s) and/or the doctor(s) getting pressured by that clerk or committee of clerks to "reduce end-of-life spending" decide that you're near the "end" of your life and they say "No more healthcare for you."

But by then, it'll be too late. You'll have the government against you, then. And you'll die before you can fight to reverse this havoc that you've allowed Obama and the Democrats to wreak.

Don't the Pro-O liberals find it interesting that Congress won't hold itself to this same "standard of care" that they think all other Americans should accept meekly, silently and blindly?

If it was such a great system, they'd be trampling us to get it for themselves first.

They're not. They never will.

POSTSCRIPT: Palin echoes today what I and others also already know, but sadly the vast majority of Obama-ites refuse to learn:

"I join millions of Americans in expressing appreciation for the Senate Finance Committee's decision to remove the provision in the pending health care bill that authorizes end-of-life consultations (Section 1233 of HR 3200). It's gratifying that the voice of the people is getting through to Congress; however, that provision was not the only disturbing detail in this legislation; it was just one of the more obvious ones.

"...nationalized health care inevitably leads to rationing. There is simply no way to cover everyone and hold down the costs at the same time. The rationing system proposed by one of President Obama's key health care advisors is particularly disturbing. I'm speaking of the "Complete Lives System" advocated by Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of the president's chief of staff. President Obama has not yet stated any opposition to the "Complete Lives System," a system which, if enacted, would refuse to allocate medical resources to the elderly, the infirm, and the disabled who have less economic potential. [1] Why the silence from the president on this aspect of his nationalization of health care? Does he agree with the "Complete Lives System"? If not, then why is Dr. Emanuel his policy advisor? What is he advising the president on? I just learned that Dr. Emanuel is now distancing himself from his own work and claiming that his "thinking has evolved" on the question of rationing care to benefit the strong and deny the weak. [2] How convenient that he disavowed his own work only after the nature of his scholarship was revealed to the public at large."

How convenient indeed. And this doesn't bother any of Obama's supporters? None at all??

Americans United for Life Applauds Decision Protecting Women from Dangers of RU-486

Washington D.C./August 13, 2009 -

The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals has dissolved an injunction against the enforcement of an OH law strictly regulating the provision of the dangerous abortion drug, RU-486.

Dr. Charmaine Yoest, CEO and President of Americans United for Life, stated, "This is a victory for women's health. Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers have readily admitted that they administer RU-486 in violation of the FDA-approved protocol for the drug. In response, Ohio rightly sought to protect women from such dangerous practices and the Sixth Circuit has ratified that decision."

In July, the OH Supreme Court clarified that the 2004 law mandates that abortionists comply with the FDA-approved protocol when administering RU-486 and follow the instructions contained in the drug's label. In light of that clarification, the Sixth Circuit vacated the injunction prohibiting the enforcement of the law and remanded the case to the federal district court.

Mailee Smith, AUL Staff Counsel, stated, "The drug manufacturer has publicly admitted that 29 women around the world have died after using RU-486. Eight of those women were American. That Planned Parenthood would even argue that it should be permitted to administer RU-486 in an untested and unapproved manner is appalling."

AUL filed an amicus brief in the Sixth Circuit on behalf of Senator (Dr.) Tom A. Coburn, M.D. (OK), and Representatives Roscoe Bartlett (MD), John Boehner (OH), Steve Chabot (OH), Trent Franks (AZ), Jim Jordan (OH), Patrick McHenry (NC), Joseph Pitts (PA), Jean Schmidt (OH), Chris Smith (NJ), and Mark Souder (IN). It is available here (pdf).

AUL also filed an amicus brief before the OH Supreme Court, which is available here (pdf).

Concerned Roman Catholics Blast the K of C Double-Standard on Abortion

MEDIA ADVISORY, Aug. 13/Christian Newswire -

Concerned Roman Catholics of America monitored the proceedings at the Knights of Columbus Supreme Convention, held this year in Phoenix, AZ, from Aug. 4-6. The K of C, the world's largest Catholic fraternal group, are notorious for their continuing failure to expel pro-abortion and pro-homosexual politicians.

CRCOA President Ken Fisher stated:

Over three days of wining and dining by Knights, cardinals, bishops and guests, 10k of our pre-born brothers and sisters were killed by abortion in the USA and Canada. We heard the usual empty rhetoric from Supreme Knight Carl Anderson and saw more resolutions passed for show. If the K of C ever enforces these resolutions, we will be glad to report it. In 2008, only 11% ($3.4 of $32.3 million) given by Home Office to charity went to pro-life. By contrast, $3.8 million went to the K of C museum!

36 years and 51 million abortions since Roe v. Wade, the K of C has not expelled the pro-abortion and pro-homosexual politicians, and the bishops - many of whom are K of C members - have not excommunicated them. Indeed, K of C Cardinal Sean O'Malley supported his 6 Caritas Christi hospitals in abortion referral on March 12, 2009.

Opinion polls published by the Knights of Columbus and others, tell us that the nation is becoming more pro-life. The only true opinion polls are elections, which return pro-abortion politicians time and time again. In August 2009, Catholic pro-abortion politicians in Congress outnumber the pro-life by 101 to 48 - a ratio of 2 to 1 - the same as in the last Congress!

Anderson has led the K of C for the last nine years, following in the footsteps of Virgil Dechant who told me in 2005 that pro-abortion politicians will 'never' be expelled! Anderson has failed, so he must go.

Americans Are Clear: We Do Not Trust 'Obamacare'

WASHINGTON, Aug. 13/Christian Newswire -

As news rolls in of Americans participating in town hall meetings in record numbers, a recent Rasmussen poll shows that support for President Obama's health care plan is waning quickly. Just 42% of Americans currently support the President's plan, while 53% oppose it.

"As details about abortion funding, rationing of care, higher costs and less access to health care surface, Americans are expressing their distrust of a government-run system. Average Americans who have never been politically involved before are coming out in droves. They fear that their government officials, who have spent trillions on pet projects like obscene art and luxury planes, now plan to hijack control of our health care.

"The message is clear: We don't trust Obama or Congress -- especially with our health care," stated Concerned Women for America's President Wendy Wright.

"CWA's members are attending town halls nationwide. They are reporting huge crowds of people upset about the health care bill and peppering congressmen with questions on rationing, euthanasia, abortion and Medicare cut backs for seniors. And they are steamed that Congressmen are exempting themselves from the health care mandates.

"Obama and liberal congressmen have vividly exhibited their disdain for average Americans by their exorbitant spending spree with our tax dollars. Now they insult deeply worried citizens who engage with their congressmen by calling us 'un-American' and 'mobs' for questioning their plan. Yet these citizens know more about the House-passed bill than Obama or liberal congressmen, who respond to questioning with vague phrases that contradict the bill.

"These citizens are smart enough to know that the bill sets up a system whereby bureaucrats and government boards will determine what health care we can have. And with the way this Congress and President have acted in the last few months, Americans are convinced that they cannot be trusted with our health care."

Concerned Women for America is the nation's largest public policy women's organization.

Health-Care Conference Call Misleads

CitizenLink, August 12, 2009 -
by Kim Trobee, Editor

President Barack Obama will participate in a conference call Wednesday, Aug. 19, to promote his health-care agenda.

Organized by Faith in Public Life, it includes several groups that belong to the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. The RCRC's stand on health-care reform includes the inclusion of "reproductive health services," a code word for abortion.

Jim Wallis, president of Sojourners, said on a Monday conference call that his group's mission is to keep health-care reform alive as a "moral" issue.

"The key thing is we don't want abortion to enter this debate and sabotage health-care reform," he said. "Neither side should try to win political gains on abortion during the health-care debate."

Wallis said the goal is abortion neutrality, which he defined as "not changing federal law with regard to abortion."

But, as pro-life groups have pointed out, the House bill, H.R. 3200, establishes a federal health plan that does not exclude abortions. Douglas Johnson, legislative director for the National Right to Life Committee, said abortionists would send their bills for services to the federal government for payment.

"The actual provisions of the legislation being backed by the White House and promoted by Wallis and his allies," he said in an e-mail, "is about as far from neutrality on abortion as you can get. If you wanted to sign up with the public plan, you would have no choice except to buy an abortion-on-demand policy."

Ashley Horne, federal issues analyst for Focus on the Family Action said it's a good example of the fox watching the hen house.

"Pro-abortion supporters like President Obama and religious leaders meeting to discuss so-called abortion neutrality in the health-care bill?" she questioned. "They know that the only acceptable strategy is to specifically exclude taxpayer funding of abortions in the language of the bill. Period."

World Congress of Families V - Day Two: Family and Demography

AMSTERDAM, Aug. 12/Christian Newswire -

"Family and Demography" was one of the main topics of discussion on day two of the World Congress of Families V on August 11, 2009 at the RAI Center in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Steven W. Mosher, President of the Population Research Institute, spoke of a "Gendercide in Asia."

According to Mosher, policies that limit the number of children a family may have are a contributing factor to the trend of sex-selective abortions; which Mosher called "a chilling reality in many countries in Asia."

Mosher cited an estimate from the British medical journal The Lancet that as many as half a million female fetuses are aborted in India each year because of their gender. Mosher further claimed that "the problem extends beyond India" and is bringing about disastrous consequences.

Mosher:

A recent United Nations Population Fund report says at least 60 million girls are 'missing' in Asia because of sex-selective abortion, infanticide and neglect. The most egregious example is China, where a brutally enforced one-child policy has produced a national ratio of 117 boys born for every 100 girls.

In another lecture on the topic of "Family and Demography," John D. Mueller of the Ethics and Public Policy Center contended that there is a direct relationship between church attendance and birth rates.

Mueller said that families that do not attend church produce 1.2 births per family (well below the replacement level of 2.13 births per family), while families that attend church at least once a week produce 3.22 births per family. Mueller adds that these statistics hold true across religions and nationalities.

Don Feder, the Communications Director for World Congress of Families delivered a lecture on the "Philosophical Roots of Demographic Winter."

According to Feder:

In the past, people didn't ask why have children any more than they asked why eat or breathe. It was such a natural part of existence that it needed no rationale. ...You had children because, in the act of procreation, humanity finds its future. You had children to share the joy you felt at being alive.

The World Congress of Families is the premier gathering of individuals and organizations that promote the concept of the "Natural Family" from around the world.

The World Congress of Families (WCF) is an international network of pro-family organizations, scholars, leaders and people of goodwill from more than 60 countries that seek to restore the natural family as the fundamental social unit and the 'seedbed' of civil society. The WCF was founded in 1997 by Allan Carlson and is a project of The Howard Center for Family, Religion & Society in Rockford, Illinois (www.profam.org). To date, there have been four World Congresses of Families -- Prague (1997), Geneva (1999), Mexico City (2004) and Warsaw, Poland (2007). A fifth World Congress of Families is being held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, August 10-12, 2009 ( www.worldcongress.nl).

New Stanek WND column, "Obama on abortion in healthcare: Unclear now, quite clear then"

WND%20logo.gif

The White House unveiled its new Reality Check webpage Monday morning, attempting to realign facts in its favor about the proposed nationalized health care plan.

I noted on my blog that noticeably missing was any mention of the A-word, even though the topic has taken center stage in the national debate....

But there was a time when Obama was quite clear about his intention to include abortion in taxpayer financed health care as well as force private insurance coverage.

On July 17, 2007, Obama was speaking to Planned Parenthood supporters, and Bryan Howard, CEO of Planned Parenthood AZ, asked a question on health care (abortionspeak translation: "reproductive healthcare" means "abortion"):

Could you talk - give us some specifics about how reproductive health care ... is going to fit into and be a part of primary care for women in your health care reform plans and how Planned Parenthood ... will continue to be a part of the health care safety net for women and families across the country?

Obama responded quite clearly he planned for abortion not only to be part of taxpayer-funded health care but also forcibly covered by private insurers. He added he thought it "important" for the United States' largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, to be part of his plan. Here's the entire clip, courtesy of Americans United for Life:

Flash forward 2 years and Obama isn't quite so clear....

On July 21, CBS's Katie Couric could not have asked Obama more directly: "Do you favor a government option that would cover abortions?"

Obama's response....

August 12, 2009

What he said. And then some.

And how.

The best and truest line?

"Now, Americans are waking up to the truth that ObamaCare basically means that every time you are sick or injured, you will have a clerk from the Department of Motor Vehicles telling your doctor what he can and cannot do."

At least someone just like a clerk at the DMV. Wonder how many of them will be lured into being "on the take" as so many at the Connecticut DMV were not long ago? Yes, I feel secure with my healthcare being run by those folks, oh, yeah.

And never mind that these so-called "town hall meetings" are being staged in every sense of the word, in many states, and even run by the Democratic political parties, so that only those with supportive pro-ObamaCare signs are being allowed in the first several rows, and big brawny union thugs are being told to cross state lines to attend these meetings to intimidate any opponents who dare try to get a bona fide question in edgewise to their own congressmen and Senators, and these "bouncers" (one attendee's own word for them) have even grabbed opponents by the arm and ushered them roughly out of the meetings for simply trying to ask a question when the elected officials are only choosing the proponents of ObamaCare to get the chance to speak up and oh, yeah, in one state, the local congressperson (Dingell it was, look it up yourselves on Youtube), faked an opposing attendee, having one of his own people carry a sign equating Obama with Hitler so it would appear to the media and others that they actually allowed dissent when, later, that same guy was handing out pro-Dingell/proObamaCare literature as people were leaving...and never mind that some of those who've been opposing ObamaCare at these town hall meetings (which the Big O shunned when McCain called him to have real ones during the campaign) are receiving death threats...

Oh, yes, folks, this is what you gave us when you voted for Obama. You gave us Russia.

Go read about those Democrats who are as appalled and aghast as anyone should be about these unAmerican strong-arm tactics.

And remember, it was your President, Obam-ites, who told you to "get in [our] faces." He doesn't seem too upset that your side is taking that to the extreme and shocking fully one-half of the country who is finally getting vocal about their opposition.

Free speech? What's that? Not for those who oppose the Big O, oh, no.

Don't take my word for it. DYOR, folks. Go here and just watch the videos for yourselves.

Is There a Spin Doctor in the House?

August 11, 2009 -
by Tony Perkins, Family Research Council

Pretty soon there won't be enough PR teams in all of Washington to clean up the mess that House leaders are making with health care reform. Damage control was the agenda du jour yesterday after three Hill Democrats became publicly unglued over the opposition to their plan. Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) imploded first, publishing an op-ed in USA Today that called anyone who disagreed with them "un-American."

As if that weren't enough, Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.), the longest serving member of the House, compared townhall critics to the Ku Klux Klan. Apparently voters who want to keep costs down and retain their current plans are somehow racists. It's a desperate attack by a desperate majority. Unless the messaging changes, this legislation is on the path to complete and utter self-destruction.

While President Obama seems to be distancing himself from the comments of his "leftenants," he seems to be plotting his own retaliation for critics. Last week, a White House blog asked people to tattle on neighbors who oppose his plans. "Scary chain emails and videos are starting to percolate on the internet... Since we can't keep track of all of them here at the White House, we're asking for your help... [in reporting anything] fishy."

If there's anything "fishy," it's the White House asking people to police their neighbors' political views. Is the White House planning to use this database of dissenters to intimidate their critics? The freedom of speech may be a pesky annoyance, but welcome to representative democracy and the reality of opposing views, Mr. President!

In between the spy campaign and health care pitch, the administration did have time to launch a new website aimed at setting the record straight on the reform. Although the website ("Reality Check") shares its name with the pro-abortion site "RH Reality Check," the pages are completely silent on whether the bill includes taxpayer-funded abortion--proving that there are some realities that even the White House can't hide from.

NRLC: They Really Do Believe We Are Idiots

August 11, 2009/National Right to Life -

"Liberal religious groups announced on Monday they are teaming up with President Barack Obama in a national campaign to counter the surprisingly vehement conservative opposition to his plan for overhaul of the U.S. healthcare industry this year. Organized by liberal-leaning evangelicals, some mainline Protestant clergy, and some Catholic groups, it will include Obama participating in a call-in program with religious leaders streamed on the Internet on August 19, prayer meetings and nationwide television ads."
- From "U.S. religious left wades into healthcare fight," which appeared yesterday in Reuters.

When a reporter and/or media outlet is behind you, your vocal support for something or another is "passionate," "caring," even "prophetic." When they don't, that same intensity is "vehement," "fueled by anger," even (to quote Democratic congressional leaders) "unAmerican."

Some of the same religious leadership that helped Obama navigate the political shoals last year are putting the band back together again, this time in an attempt to blunt massive grassroots resistance to health care "reform." Let me talk about a few of the particulars.

If you believe a lot of the "mainstream" press, resistance is either synthetic, bought and paid for by those "opposed to health care reform," ill-informed, and/or stoked in part (as Reuters put it yesterday) by "Christian and conservative radio," and/or leaders of the "religious right."

As you undoubtedly know from watching television or reading accounts, President Obama and the Democratic leadership in Congress are fighting back.

The two-fold strategy appears to be (yet AGAIN) to marginalized anyone who wants an explanation of how they are going to square various circles, and to (yet AGAIN) stop talking about specifics (which always gets them into loads of trouble) and return to the kind of sparkling generalities that Obama specializes in.

That's where the Religious Left comes in the form of something called "People of Faith for Health Reform and its "40 Days for Health Reform." One of the usual suspects is Jim Wallis, who told Reuters that "his group's mission is to keep universal health-care coverage alive as a 'moral issue.'"

According to NPR, the division of labor goes like this. The Obama Administration has rolled out a website to contest "wild rumors" about its health care initiative and to "call out misinformation." (Gulp! ) So what is the role of this "coalition of progressive religious leaders"?

"Argue morality," or, according to Liz Halloran, "more specifically, what members characterize as the moral and religious imperative of providing 'inclusive, accessible' health care coverage and the need for a civil discourse about the issue, says Jim Wallis of the progressive Christian group Sojourners, one of the coalition sponsors." (Keep that "civil discourse" comment in mind.)

So, let's look at the ad. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaBq0QeM3-8) True, there is one statement that is unobjectionable. A pastor looks in the camera and says, "God's given us a spirit not of fear but of love and action."

But the rest of the ad is the usual us v. the "special interests" drivel that is the hallmark of those who insist you either accept the thrust of the Democrats health care "reform" sight unseen, or you want nothing.

The first statement in the 30-second ad tells you all you need to know: "Special interests in Washington are spending millions to block health insurance reform," followed by "Killing reform will boost their profits." In case anyone misses the point a moment later a woman opines, "The special interests are strong."

However, thanks to NPR, there can be little doubt of the campaign's real motivation. "According to Gordon Whitman of the PICO National Network, a faith-based community organizing group that is also one of the coalition's sponsors, the group's effort will focus on moderate, swing districts where 'religion is significant to public life.'"

They really do believe we are idiots, don't they?

Switching gears but to a related subject, there's been an enormous amount written about "Section 1233 of the health-care bill drafted in the Democratic-led House, which would pay doctors to give Medicare patients end-of-life counseling every five years," as the Washington Post described it. How much should we be worrying about this?

Let me offer the concluding paragraphs of "Facing the Challenge of Health Care Rationing," a page one story in the July/August issue of NRL News, written by NRLC's Burke Balch, JD. Mr. Balch, director of NRLC's Robert Powell Center for Medical Ethics wrote the following:

The House legislation, as reported from the Energy and Commerce Committee, contains provisions to promote advance directives like "living wills," including:

1) Medicare reimbursement for consultations about "advance care planning" between health care providers and their patients when they enter Medicare, every five years thereafter, and if they become seriously ill;

2) requiring private and public health care plans to give potential enrollees the option to establish advance directives; and

3) a public education campaign, toll-free telephone hotline, and clearinghouse to promote advance directives and other advance care planning.

Advocates of such measures frequently cite the cost savings if, as they expect, this promotion results in more directives rejecting lifesaving treatment. "We refer to the end-of-life discussion as the multimillion-dollar conversation because it is associated with shifting costs away from expensive ... care like being on a ventilator in an ICU, to less costly comfort care ...," said Holly Prigerson of Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. National Right to Life strongly encourages the execution of a pro-life advance directive, the Will to Live (see www.nrlc.org/MedEthics/WilltoLiveProject.html).

However, the pro-life fear is that efforts to push patients and prospective patients to prepare advance directives may in practice become a means of persuading or pressuring them to agree to less treatment as a means of saving money. Moreover, governmental promotion of advance care planning must not include the "option" of assisted suicide. Especially in the Senate, NRLC is working to address these concerns through negotiations and, if necessary, by preparing amendments to be offered in the Senate Finance Committee and on the Senate floor.

It is critically important that pro-life citizens make their voices heard while senators and representatives are at home during August, and after they return to Washington in September. The contemplated restructuring of America's health care system will affect the life--and death--of every American.

Susan B. Anthony List Praises Pro-Life Leadership of Eunice Kennedy Shriver

WASHINGTON, Aug. 11/Christian Newswire -

Former Susan B. Anthony List Advisory Committee Member Eunice Kennedy Shriver died today at the age of 88 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Massachusetts, surrounded by her family. Eunice Kennedy Shriver was a sister of President John F. Kennedy and Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, and mother of Maria Shriver, the first lady of California. She founded the Special Olympics in 1968.

"No one more than Eunice Kennedy Shriver understood better the power held by the most vulnerable in our society," said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. "She fought for those hidden in the shadows of life, while acknowledging that they teach us far more than we could ever offer them. She was consistent in her championing of every vulnerable human life."

On July 14, 1992, Eunice and Sargent Shriver joined PA Governor Bob Casey (D-PA) and many other influential pro-life leaders in signing a full-page ad in the New York Times protesting the Democratic Party's embrace of the abortion-rights agenda. The ad, titled The New American Compact, called for support of policies that embrace both mother and child. The ad concluded with the following statement:

We can choose to reaffirm our respect for human life. We can choose to extend once again the mantle of protection to all members of the human family, including the unborn. We can choose to provide effective care of mothers and children. And if we make those choices, America will experience a new birth of freedom, bringing with it a renewed spirit of community, compassion, and caring.

"Eunice Kennedy Shriver's heart for the most vulnerable among us will be deeply missed," said Jane Abraham, General Chairman of the Susan B. Anthony List. "She fought for the dignity inherent in every human life, born and unborn. Her legacy will serve as a life-affirming example to young women everywhere, and for that we are so blessed."

Eunice Kennedy Shriver was an early supporter of the Susan B. Anthony List and its mission to advance, mobilize and represent pro-life women in the political process. She and her husband, Sargent Shriver, also lent their time and talents to the efforts and activities of Democrats for Life of America and Feminists for Life.

The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of Americans, over 162,000 residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.

Stop Singing: Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Abortion and the Church Today

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a pastor and theologian who lived and worked in Nazi Germany. Bonhoeffer lived a courageous life, and is considered one of the most influential Christians of the 20th century, even though there are sadly many Christians who know nothing or very little about him.

Bonhoeffer was one of the Christians brave enough to speak out against the holocaust, when the general German Christian response at the time was apathy or even complicity. Bonhoeffer had a rare boldness, a fiery courage that only God can give. He spoke sternly against the church's apathy concerning the holocaust. Perhaps one Bonhoeffer's most controversial statements was something he said to a group of seminary students he was teaching. He remarked that "Only those who cry out for the Jews may also sing Gregorian chant." Only those who cried out on behalf of the oppressed could sing in church. This concept is reminiscent to the daring words of Amos the prophet, speaking on God's behalf:

Amos 5:23-24
"Take away from me the noise of your songs;
to the melody of your harps I will not listen.
But let justice roll down like waters,
and righteousness like an ever-flowing
stream."

To not speak out on behalf of the oppressed was hypocrisy, and God made it clear that all our worship means nothing to Him if we do not speak His truth and share His love. We are as those who honor Him with our lips, but worship other gods with the rest of our bodies. We may praise Him with our song, but deny Him by our silence.

Bonhoeffer also had strong words about abortion. In one of his most important works, Ethics, he writes...

Wisconsin RTL Releases New Video on Health Care Reform

Tuesday, August 11, 2009/Wisconsin RTL -

Today, Wisconsin Right to Life releases a video entitled "Health Care: Reform or Disaster?"

The video clearly demonstrates that all of the health care bills currently being considered by Congress have two things in common:

  • They will greatly expand and fund abortion.

  • They will ration and even deny care for all, especially older Americans and those with disabilities.

Your carbons and your life: A look at the death dealers for a better tomorrow

Your money or your life! These are the words most people have seen on television, and a precious few in real life, where the villain gives the frightened passer-by the option of handing over their hard earned money or forfeiting their precious life. Ah, for the good old days. For a bad case scenario, the classic robber/victim interaction was a pretty good deal. Think about it, the thug/villain/bad guy (whatever title or representation identified this dastardly person), was usually apparent by the robber's covered face, grizzled appearance, or whatever makes a bad guy look most noticeably bad. The options (your money or your life), while not fair, were straight forward; and for a bad situation, "living" was clearly the best decision of the choices available. However, when it comes to the man-made global warming crowd, currently in power in the United States, the old 'your money or your life' routine now has a radically new spin. In fact, it's truly a theft you're not meant to walk away from.

The man-made global warming policies of the Obama administration, such as cap and trade, are starting to receive sharper scrutiny as more focus is being placed on the tremendous cost of implementing Obama's quest for a carbon reduced, "better tomorrow." The fact that the U.S. will spend trillions of dollars, cripple our economic standing in the world, and reduce many important personal freedoms of citizens here in the U.S., chasing a Gorian Hoax, is starting to get traction with the American people, much to the chagrin of the Obama administration. This is a positive thing; however, most people that combat the cabal of climate cuckoos focus their attention on the 'theft' argument behind man-made global warming. That is, the criminal way our taxes will be raised (and our pockets emptied), or the robber's demand that we turn over our personal choice on what to buy and how to travel (you know, those personal freedoms). This challenge to the American people alone is worth fighting for, as this is the fleecing of the country by the miscreant in the back ally, "packing heat" and demanding, "your money or your life," and it isn't even their complete man-made global warming "rescue" package...

While most people are focusing on the economic detriments of Obama's green initiatives, the broadest encompassing life issue of our time stands before us. If the anti-capitalistic, anti-industrial measures of cap and trade come to fruition, it will dramatically increase death rates in developing countries that are attempting through industry to pull themselves out of third world status - with its war, poverty, and disease. Yes, for these countries, green initiatives should come packaged with a depiction of the 'skull and crossbones.' There is little spin that can be thrown at the fact that poverty and death walk hand in hand. If you believe in the goodness of life and its right to flourish, then you must observe the overt stance of the Obama administration, that 'too much of a good thing' is ultimately bad.

To understand how death plays an intricate part of the Obama agenda, you have to step into the complex, socialistic, web of the administration....

Partial-Birth Abortion: Sounds "worse than it is"?

The other day I was at a library book sale. . .my heaven on earth. I was browsing in the Politics section for that perfect find-a new release hardcover from one of my favorite authors or commentators and all for the bargain price of $2 (never found one, by the way). A woman and her friend were across the row of books from me and I overheard the following statement:

"Partial-birth abortion is just a made up term in order to sound worse than it really is."

I'm not kidding.

And I wanted so desperately to ask her, "Just what part of the partial-birth procedure is not EXACTLY as the name (aka "made up term") implies?" But I didn't. And now I'm blogging about it (venting about it) here.

I understand that not everyone accepts the name of this procedure-the AMA, for example, or Planned Parenthood (big surprise), which calls it an IDX, Intact Dilation and Extraction.

But what I take issue with is the complete spin that pro-choice proponents, activists, politicians and abortion providers perform here. If you are upset that pro-lifers are calling it partial-birth abortion (upset that we are calling apples apples instead of papayas), then tell me exactly and specifically where a partial-birth abortion is NOT a partial-birth abortion....

Urgent Petition Launched To Block Plans For New International Late-Term Abortion Clinic

August 10, 2009/Wichita, KS -

Operation Rescue has launched an on-line petition aimed at stopping abortionist LeRoy Carhart from opening an international late-term abortion clinic in his target city of Wichita, KS. The petition is considered an urgent priority in a larger campaign to block Carhart from resuming unpopular post-viability abortions in any state.

In order for Carhart to operate legally in Kansas, he must have an arrangement for treatment of emergency cases with a local hospital. Wesley Medical Center was the only hospital that would allow such an arrangement with local abortionists, including Carhart's former employer, the late George Tiller and his now closed Women's Health Care Services.

"We have confirmed that Carhart does not currently have an arrangement with Wesley Medical Center or any other local area hospital. Therefore we are petitioning Wesley to deny any attempts by Carhart and his associates to establish an agreement or plan for patient transport and/or admission to Wesley," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

Because Carhart would target women for post-viability abortions from around the world in much the same way Tiller did, people everywhere are asked to sign this petition.

"The need is urgent. Carhart has announced that he is in negotiations now to open a post-viability clinic in Wichita that would attempt to draw women from every state and beyond for abortions in their latest stages of pregnancy. Wesley is the key to protecting women and their viable babies from such a predatory abortion business. But we must act now, before Carhart finalizes his plans," said Newman.

The petition is just one more facet to the larger "Keep It Closed" campaign aimed at preventing Carhart from resuming late-term abortions in any state.

Other aspects of the campaign have included a formal request to the Nebraska Attorney General for a comprehensive investigation into Carhart's abortion business, and an event scheduled for August 28-29 in the Omaha area that will include a rally, street activism at Carhart's Bellevue abortion clinic, and a training session for local pro-life activists.

"We plan to hand-deliver the petition to Wesley Medical Center," said Newman. "We encourage supporters to sign now then forward the petition link to their friends and family, and post it to their social networking sites. Working together using the power of the Internet, we can reach more people faster than ever and prevent this horrific late-term abortion clinic from opening."

America's Skepticism will Follow Sotomayor to the Supreme Court

WASHINGTON, Aug. 6 /Christian Newswire -

Today, the United State Senate confirmed Judge Sonia Sotomayor as the next Justice of the Supreme Court by a vote of 68-31.

Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee President Wendy Wright said, "Sonia Sotomayor begins her tenure on the Supreme Court with a daunting challenge to live up to the standard she presented during her nomination hearing. She carries the burden of the public's skepticism that she will follow the Constitution and law, not her ethnic experience or foreign laws, in her rulings. Her lifetime appointment will be a test as to whether she acted with integrity."

Mario Diaz, Esq., CWALAC's Policy Director for Legal Issues, said, "The 31 Senators who voted to oppose Judge Sotomayor's nomination showed great character and respect for the Constitution by opposing her. Liberals have certainly tried to demonize them because they were voting against the first Hispanic Supreme Court nominee. But we can be proud of Judge Sotomayor's accomplishments as a Hispanic and still strongly disagree with her judicial philosophy. As a Hispanic myself, I can say that to suggest all Senators must vote for someone just because of their race is ridiculous and, in fact, demeaning to all minorities.

"Judge Sotomayor herself showed how radical her views were when she had to run away from her own statements during the hearings. Her 'conversion' proves what we have always argued, that a judge is supposed to rule based on the law and not based on 'empathy' as President Obama has argued.

"This confirmation actually may turn out to be immensely beneficial to conservatives because it should put an end to the President's ridiculous standard and set a new path for future nominees."

Scarborough Says Ad that Calls Opponents of Obama-Care Right-Wing Extremists is 'Beneath Contempt'

WASHINGTON, Aug. 5 /Christian Newswire -

"President Obama must really be desperate to stoop to smear tactics against opponents of his attempt to nationalize our health-care system," Vision America Action President Dr. Rick Scarborough declared.

The Democratic National Committee is currently running a TV ad accusing those who dare to question the president's 1,018-page blueprint for government take-over of health care a "Republican mob" of "right-wing extremists."

Said Scarborough: "According to the president and DNC, if you're a concerned citizen who asks his Congressman tough questions at a Town Hall Meeting, you're a right-wing extremist. If you're a senior worried about not being able to get hip-replacement surgery if the president's plan is adopted, you're a right-wing extremist. If you wonder how a government that can't deliver the mail on time is going to manage an industry which constitutes one-sixth of our economy, you are a right-wing extremist. This is truly beneath contempt."

"Obama is calling a plurality of Americans 'right-wing extremists,'" the Vision America Action President declared. (According to a recent Wall Street Journal/NBC News Poll, only 36% of Americans support Obama-Care, while 42% oppose it.)

Scarborough said this latest ad hominem reminded him of Homeland Security Director Janet Napolitano's report warning that, along with Iraq war veterans, "extremists" who support gun ownership, oppose abortion and think taxes are too high are the coming terrorist threat to America.

"The message of the DNC/Obama ad is simple and straightforward: Don't ask questions, Don't read the fine print. Don't peacefully protest. Just blindly support the president's attempted takeover of health care," Scarborough observed.

"Far from intimidating us, this character-assassination encourages us to re-double our efforts to defeat Obama-Care," Scarborough said.

Court Turns Down Pastor Hoye's Challenge to 'Mother May I' Ordinance

OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 5 /Christian Newswire -

On August 4, federal district court judge Charles Breyer ruled Oakland's "Mother May I" ordinance constitutional, setting the stage for a showdown in the 9th Circuit. In a 25-page memorandum opinion, Breyer held that the ordinance, which applies only outside abortion facilities, was not content- or viewpoint-based on its face. The court also ruled that the ordinance was narrowly tailored, even though it prohibits merely extending one's hand with a leaflet to a woman seeking to enter an abortion clinic.

The ordinance, passed in February 2008, prohibits unconsented approaches within 8 feet of persons seeking to enter abortion clinics.

Rev. Hoye challenged the ordinance because it prevented him from engaging in the counseling he found most effective, namely, walking up to women and asking them if they would like to talk about alternatives to the clinic. Because the ordinance required him to keep an 8-foot distance, pro-abortion escorts could approach the women first and hustle them into the clinic, while others physically blocked Pastor Hoye.

Confronted with evidence that the City does not enforce the ordinance against pro-abortion escorts who approach and surround women, telling them not to listen to Rev. Hoye, not to take his information, and that he is only there to harass them, the court ruled that this speech was merely "facilitating access" to the clinic and thus did not violate the law.

Faced with the City's own statements that it is permissible for escorts to approach women and make statements such as "You have the right to an abortion," the court simply stated that the City was wrong about what its own ordinance meant. The court disposed of the escorts' blocking of Rev. Hoye by simply declaring, "Of course, escorts also may not physically block demonstrators," as if by merely saying so, the court had made the problem disappear.

"Mark this day down," said Mike Millen, who, in conjunction with Katie Short of the Life Legal Defense Foundation, is representing Rev. Hoye.

"On this day, a federal court judge ruled that it is constitutional to put someone in jail for a year for holding out a hand with a leaflet. The Supreme Court clearly wanted to leave at least that channel of communication open to speakers, but the federal district court blocked even that peaceful form of expression."

The next step is an immediate appeal to the Ninth Circuit, Millen said. "While disappointing, this ruling is not entirely unexpected. The good news is that while San Francisco federal judges may be loathe to strike down clearly unconstitutional city ordinances, the Ninth Circuit has an admirable record of supporting free speech rights. We are optimistic that this wrong will be righted."

'Health Care Reform Must be Abortion-Free,' says Supreme Knight

PHOENIX, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire -

"A health care system designed to save lives on the one hand must not become a vehicle for taking lives through abortion and euthanasia," Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson said in his annual report at the organization's 127th annual convention here today. Referring to health care legislation now being considered in the U.S. Congress, he declared that "Health care reform must be abortion-free."

The leader of the 1.78 million member Knights of Columbus told delegates that the inclusion of an abortion mandate and other provisions that would require all health insurance plans to pay for abortions runs contrary to public opinion, which has moved decisively in the opposite direction.

Anderson cited the results of a Knights of Columbus/Marist College Poll showing that "If people were allowed to choose; 86% of the American people would choose to significantly restrict abortion." Other recent polls, including the Gallup Poll, have confirmed a shift in public opinion. Gallup showed a majority of Americans describing themselves as pro-life for the first time since they began asking the question in 1995.

"In our search for common ground," Anderson said, "Let us begin there."

Anderson also described plans to expand the Knights of Columbus ultrasound initiative, in which the Supreme Council joins with state and local councils in funding the purchase of ultrasound machines for crisis pregnancy clinics. "Up to 90% of women considering abortion choose to have their babies after seeing an Ultrasound image," Anderson noted. "They hear their baby's heartbeat; they see their baby's head and fingers. They know that their baby is a child, not a choice."

Since the beginning of the year, nine such machines have been donated to clinics in Florida, Iowa, Georgia, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska and Texas. The Supreme Knight set a goal of putting "at least one ultrasound machine in every jurisdiction in the Order this year."

The full text of Anderson's address, and much other information about the convention in Phoenix, can be found at www.kofc.org.

Pro-lifers Need To Oppose The Entire Health Care Bill

President Obama's health care bill must be stopped before being enacted into law. But the method many are using to fight this bill will ensure that it will become law. How are pro-lifers contesting it? Most want specific wording stating that abortion will not be funded. Since abortion is one of the cornerstones of the Obama administration's reasons for enacting this bill, then there's little chance that will happen. Since the main focus of the bill is about control, especially when someone's life should be extended, then abortion fits right in with that belief. With that said, let's assume that abortion funding is strictly prohibited. Pro-lifers will be giving each other high-fives, but WE STILL HAVE THE BILL!

The main argument from members of Congress is the cost of it. It's obvious that the way to get the Blue Dog Democrats and a few others to switch their votes is to just cut a million here, a million there, and then everyone is happy. There's just one problem - WE STILL HAVE THE BILL!

Another argument voiced by those opposed is that Obama and Congress won't be obliged to be in the government health plan. They will keep what they have now. Once again, if the Congress buckles to pressure and places themselves under the same plan as all of us, then what is the big accomplishment? WE STILL HAVE THE BILL!

One needs to look past the marketing of this bill and concentrate on the facts. The main theme throughout is control. This bill will control who gets medical care depending on your worth to society. Two of the possibilities that might be in charge of Obamacare are frightening examples of this belief. A prime candidate is Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. He has already been appointed to two key positions: health-policy adviser at the Office of Management and Budget and a member of Federal Council on Comparative Effectiveness Research.

In Health Affairs, Feb. 27, 2008, Emanuel wrote that the cuts will not be pain-free. "Vague promises of savings from cutting waste, enhancing prevention and wellness, installing electronic medical records and improving quality are merely 'lipstick' cost control, more for show and public relations than for true change."

"Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath too seriously, as an imperative to do everything for the patient regardless of the cost or effects on others." (Journal of the American Medical Association, June 18, 2008).

He also says that medical care should be reserved for the non-disabled, not given to those "who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens . . . An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia." (Hastings Center Report, Nov.-Dec. '96).

Probably the most incredible appointment is John Holdren as science and technology czar. What does he think about human life?

In John Holdren's book, Human Ecology: Problems and Solutions: "The fetus, given the opportunity to develop properly before birth, and given the essential early socializing experiences and sufficient nourishing food during the crucial early years after birth, will ultimately develop into a human being." Maybe this is why Obama believes that even a baby born alive after a failed abortion should be left to die, since of course it's not human.

It's admirable to fight for or against certain aspects of the bill, but it is so massive that altering it slightly will not have much of an overall effect. This is something that shouldn't be negotiated. This bill should totally be defeated, or we will have a life or death issue for everyone decided by the health care czar and his bureaucrat assistants.

The Hypocrisy of Abortion

Whenever I see people who support abortion with the blood-thirsty ferocity of hyena, Ronald Reagan's words come to mind: "Abortion is advocated only by persons who have themselves been born."

Every pro-choicer has had the blessing of being allowed to live through their mothers' pregnancy. The truth is that no one would like to be treated the way pro-choicers treat babies. Fetuses are even lucky if they're granted the description, "human". These people have been tortured by brutal execution methods and liberals celebrate their death as a woman's right...

Some pro abortion supporters even say that it's merciful to kill one's disabled baby because the earth is a terrible place to live, and the baby will suffer. (Sigh.) Is there one human on Earth that has not at some point suffered? In fact, I bet many pro-abortion people are suffering. Why should we not be merciful to them and abort them if they are so insistent on keeping people from suffering?

Also, if liberals really cared about the earth being over populated, why do they not sacrifice themselves so that some of these innocent pre-born babies can have life and the earth won't be crowded? After all, Jesus said, "The greatest love a person can show is to lay down one's life for a friend." If liberals really cared about the earth and about other people, they would be the first to sacrifice themselves for the earth to have room and babies to have life. But, of course liberals don't care about that. Liberalism is the most self-serving political party system to have ever existed. They say they're afraid the earth will run out of room.. So what do they do? Let's kill babies so they don't crowd the earth!

No pro-abortion supporter would be willing to be treated the way they advocate for unborn babies to be treated. In their gut, liberals know pre-borns are human. Of course age doesn't make someone more or less human. Yet, to justify their hypocritical stance, liberals have to lie about the "personhood" of infants....

Pro-Life Organizations Announce National Campaign to Stop Taxpayer Funded Abortions in Obamacare

WASHINGTON, Aug. 5 /Christian Newswire -

The name of the campaign is called "Abortion is Not Health Care" and it will begin on Saturday, September 12, in Washington, D.C.

"Abortion is Not Health Care" will include public prayer vigils, rallies, lobbying, demonstrations and cutting edge pro-life witness on Capitol Hill. There will be a large rally and 28 hours of prayer beginning Sunday, September 13-14 on the West Lawn of the Capitol.

President Obama and his team have said that taxpayer funded abortions would be included in his health care plan.

The campaign will focus on fighting to ensure that:

  • Not one penny of public money is used to pay for abortions.

  • The "Conscience Clause" is not removed from health providers that decline to perform abortions.

  • No federal mandate requiring health plans to cover abortions.

  • No state law restricting abortion would be invalidated.

  • Planned Parenthood never becomes an "essential community health provider."

"Abortion is Not Health Care" is being organized by the Christian Defense Coalition and other national pro-life organizations.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, states:

"The most critical item on the pro-life agenda is stopping the Obama/Pelosi health care plan which includes taxpayer funded abortions. If abortion becomes part of a health care entitlement, it will add at least 25 years to our struggle toward ending the violence of abortion in America.

"If President Obama and Speaker Pelosi have their way, Pro-life Catholics and Evangelicals would be forced to pay for abortions. People of good will who believe that human rights begin in the womb would have to pay for the brutal crushing of that innocent life.

"'Abortion is Not Health Care' will be a public and prophetic witness to ensure that tax dollars are never used to diminish women and trample social justice.

"President Obama talks about being a progressive leader who embraces human rights and equality for all. It is tragic that he would turn health care, which is supposed to heal and bring comfort to those in need, into something that destroys innocent life."

IRS Officially Grants Tax Exempt Status to New Non-Profit Group, Coalition for Life of Iowa

Facing legal challenge from the Chicago-based Thomas More Society, IRS backs off from objections to the Coalition's prayers and protests against Planned Parenthood

CHICAGO, Aug. 4 /Christian Newswire - Today attorneys from the Thomas More Society, a national public interest law firm based in Chicago, finally received an official "Determination Letter" from the Internal Revenue Service granting tax exempt status to the Coalition for Life of Iowa, a newly formed grass roots pro-life citizen group based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The IRS had long delayed approval of the Coalition's request for the exemption, pressing it for "details" about the content of its members' prayers at a Planned Parenthood abortion facility and demanding that it refrain from activities at Planned Parenthood that could be construed as protesting or picketing by police or harassing or being confrontational with abortion-bound clients. IRS also demanded that every member of the board of directors of the Coalition sign a statement, under penalty of perjury, that they will not picket or protest or organize others to picket or protest outside of Planned Parenthood.

Last month the Coalition asked Thomas More Society for help, and the Society retained non-profit law and tax specialist, Sally Wagenmaker, of the Chicago law firm, Mosher & Associates, to assist with the case. Wagenmaker wrote IRS a lengthy recital of legal objections to its inquiries and demands (posted at www.thomasmoresociety.org), threatening legal action if the IRS persisted in violating the Coalition's First Amendment rights. Soon thereafter, the IRS quietly advised the Coalition that it would receive its tax exemption, and now the IRS's official Determination Letter has just arrived, albeit dated as of July 9, 2009.

"This is a great victory for the Coalition for Life of Iowa, and for all non-profit groups," said Tom Brejcha, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Society. "The IRS must operate within the constraints of law, and it cannot condition the grant of tax exempt status on the forfeiture or surrender of First Amendment rights on the part of any non-profit group or individual American citizens. We join the Coalition for Life of Iowa in the celebration of its victory and remain prepared to defend advocates for life against government abuse or threats - no matter however, wherever, or whenever they may suffer such abuse or threats."

The IRS Letter of Determination now confirms that the Coalition for Life of Iowa is a legitimate 501 (c)(3) public charity, donations to which are fully tax deductible.

The Thomas More Society Pro-Life Law Center is a public interest law firm in Chicago that counsels and defends those who work to protect innocent human life, defends those who proclaim faith-based values in our nation's public square, and strives to protect the institution of marriage as a union of man and woman formed to beget, bear and nurture new human lives. CPLC - "California Outrage"

California Pro-Life Council, August 4, 2009 -

During the budget impasse, in three short weeks, California ProLife Council gathered 14,000+ signatures urging the Governor to cut back support for the abortion industry. After they were presented, one staffer commented, "Well, that's nice, but there's 40 million people in California."

On July 27th the governor announced his cuts. Why would the Governor release 17,000 criminals, cut back every state agency, reduce every state expenditure, except for the funds that flow to the abortion industry?

Nearly 30 million CA taxpayer dollars pay for abortion each year, millions more go into the advertising, rents, staffing, support, and expense of the abortion network. Yet the quasi-government abortion industry was relatively unscathed while thousands of others lost jobs, benefits and services! Why? How could this blatant favoritism happen?

Perhaps it is because of the Kennedy that secretly controls this governor's policies behind the scenes. (No not THAT Kennedy!).

Susan Kennedy, his Chief of Staff, is actually a long-time abortion activist. She is former Cabinet Secretary for Gray Davis, Communications Director for Diane Feinstein, Director of the California Democrat Party, and Director of California Abortion Rights Action League! So who is really making the decisions in this administration?

The budget impasse is not finished and will likely be re-visited in October.

Killing babies before they are born is not a way to "help the future." The Governor needs to get us out of this science fiction nightmare run by ideological radicals like Susan Kennedy.

If fourteen thousand Californians seem insignificant, let's see what they say to 1.4 million!

TAKE ACTION NOW! You may either sign our on-line petition or download a hard copy to circulate today.

We will be working with state legislators to make sure the Governor is not controlled by a Pro-Abortion Democrat!

New Stanek WND column, "Cecile Richards, crazy like a baby-killing fox"

WND%20logo.gif

Abortion proponent Amanda Marcotte blogged last week:

It's the most common outpatient procedure in the country, and yet we write it off as fringe. There's only 694,000 open heart surgeries a year on average, 600,000 hysterectomies and 193,000 hip replacements a year - but there's 1.2 million abortions performed every year.

Marcotte was complaining about something not the topic of my column today but interesting nonetheless, that for only the second time since the controversial animated sitcom Family Guy began airing in 1999, Fox was refusing to air an episode - on abortion.

Marcotte didn't think it funny that Fox didn't think abortion was funny.

But as I said, I digress.

It is true that abortion is one of the most if not the most common surgical procedure performed in America.

So, objectively speaking, abortion should be covered under Obama's nationalized health care plan.

As pro-abortion Rep. Lynn Woolsey, D-CA, said 2 weeks ago when opposing an amendment to the health care plan banning taxpayer coverage of abortion, "It's a legal medical practice.... We're not talking about having your tonsils out and whether you can or can't.... Let them have an abortion or not have an abortion based on their needs, not ours."

Exactly. If abortion is the moral equivalent to having a tonsillectomy, and twice as prevalent (tonsillectomies are performed 600,000 times annually), then of course abortion should be covered in nationalized health care.

And if not, why not? If I were in the abortion industry, I'd be making darn sure it was.

But there has emerged a strange and opposite phenomenon. Pro-abortion leaders are going out of their way to reassure the public abortion won't be a mandated covered procedure in any health care plan.

This makes no sense. But, wrote Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards in Huffington Post August 3....

FRC Action's Tony Perkins Challenges Planned Parenthood Prez to Debate

August 3, 2009/WASHINGTON, D.C. -

Family Research Council Action President Tony Perkins re-issued his invitation to Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards to debate the question - Does the President's health care reform plan include a mandate for abortion coverage and taxpayer funded abortions?

In a piece published today by the Huffington Post, PP's president states that the plan doesn't mandate abortion coverage or funding. In a letter to Capitol Hill staff last week, Perkins responded to Planned Parenthood's inaccurate claims -
http://www.frcaction.org/ppletter

Perkins had this to say:

"Last week, I couriered a letter to Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards inviting her to debate the question of taxpayer-funded abortion and whether or not citizens would be forced to fund abortion under the current health care reform bills.

"The nation's largest abortion provider continues to make public accusations that FRC's latest commercial on health care reform is misleading. In it, we warn Americans that
the current proposals will lead to an abortion mandate--something Planned Parenthood has actively lobbied for.

"Planned Parenthood's accusations continue to mount but I have yet to receive a response to the invitation to debate the question of taxpayer-funded abortions. Planned
Parenthood says abortion funding isn't there. I say, come to a debate prepared to prove it."

Operation Rescue Announces "Keep It Closed" Campaign

August 3, 2009/Wichita, KS -

Effort To stop Carhart's late-term abortion plans is one of two ambitious projects being launched this month by Operation Rescue

Operation Rescue announced today that it has launched the new "Keep it Closed" campaign, which is a multi-group effort to stop LeRoy Carhart from opening a late-term abortion clinic in Nebraska, Kansas, or any other state. Operation Rescue, is conducting this project in conjunction with Rescue the Heartland and Nebraskans United for Life.

Operation Rescue will be in the Omaha are on August 28-29 for a pro-life rally, street activism at Carhart's Bellevue abortion clinic, and will hold an invitation-only training session for local pro-life activists. (Event details to be announced.)

"We are dedicated to working through every legal means to stop LeRoy Carhart from following through on his threats to open a late-term abortion clinic to replace Tiller's clinic," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

Once George Tiller's late-term abortion clinic in Wichita, Kansas, permanently closed in June, Carhart, who had worked part-time for Tiller, announced his plans to open a late-term abortion clinic in either Kansas or his home state of Nebraska.

According to recent polls, such abortions are opposed by 93% of the American people.

Last month, the three pro-life groups sent a letter along with a documentation packet to Nebraska Attorney General Jon Buning asking for a comprehensive investigation in to Carhart's abortion business.

Among concerns are:

  • Carhart's poorly-maintained abortion clinic in Nebraska presents a hazard to women that would only increase with the introduction of the more dangerous third-trimester abortions.
  • Carhart was responsible the botched third-trimester abortion death of 19-year old Christin Gilbert and other late-term abortion complications that required emergency hospitalization.
  • Records on file with the Nebraska Department of Heath indicate that Carhart has falsified entries on patient charts, interrupted abortions due to fatigue or exhaustion, engaged in personal phone conversations in the middle of abortions, and failed to train his staff on infection control protocols.
This is the first of two ambitious projects that will be launched by Operation Rescue this month. The second project promises to be the most ambitious endeavor ever embarked upon by Operation Rescue.

"We have vast experience gained over years of legally and peacefully closing abortion clinics around the nation and will be putting that experience into practice in new and creative ways in the coming weeks and months," said Newman.

Learn more about the "Keep it Closed" campaign to stop Carhart from becoming America's leading late-term abortionist.

Science Czar John Holdren and the Beginning of Your Humanity

Out of President Obama's 30+ czars, the science czar he chose continues to hold the record for most insane. Obama appointed John Holdren as top "science and technology advisor." Being Obama has promised to "restore science to its rightful place," it is very important to know what Mr. Holdren thinks about the beginning of human life.

The answer is found in John Holdren's book, Human Ecology: Problems and Solutions: "The fetus, given the opportunity to develop properly before birth, and given the essential early socializing experiences and sufficient nourishing food during the crucial early years after birth, will ultimately develop into a human being."

Many a requirement is there for us to be human:

1. Develop properly before birth. (No pre-me's.)
2. Early socialization. (Babies must be social butterflies.)
3. Sufficient nourishing food. (If you eat potato chips before you're 5, you can't be human.)

If these things are accomplished in the early years of life, you will develop into a human being... ultimately.

This is absurd. What if, later in life, you would appear to some people as "not properly socialized"? Would your neighbors report you to the government so they could take away your defined "humanity"? Then killing you would be totally legal since, of course, you aren't human!

So, now we know when the Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, John Holdren, thinks life begins. This becomes increasingly disturbing when you take into account the fact that on the campaign trail, Obama said the following about babies' human rights: "Whether you're looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity is above my pay grade...."

Waxman Strong-arms Vote to Allow Abortion Coverage in Public Plan

Republican National Coalition for Life, August 2, 2009 -

From the Weekly Standard blog:

...[T]he House Energy and Commerce Committee narrowly passed the Stupak-Pitts amendment to prevent the bill from mandating that private insurance plans cover abortions, but when Chairman Henry Waxman brought the amendment up for reconsideration, Rep. Bart Gordon of TN flipped his vote to 'no', defeating the Stupak-Pitts amendment 30 to 29. "I misunderstood it the first time," Gordon said of his flip-flop, according to The Hill. Gordon and Zack Space of Ohio were the only Blue Dogs on the committee to vote against the amendment to ban mandates for abortion.

Instead of the Stupak-Pitts amendment, the committee passed an amendment that is being billed by some Democrats as a "common ground" measure on abortion. The amendment - sponsored by Lois Capps (D-Calif.), whose National Right to Life Committee vote-scorecard is 0 for 74--would allow the "public option" to provide coverage for elective abortions and would allow federally subsidized private plans to provide abortion coverage as well. How exactly could this be construed as "common ground"? Congress isn't requiring the public option to cover abortion--merely allowing it. And through some nifty bookkeeping, abortions will supposedly be paid for out of private funds rather than tax dollars....
