You have a vitally important opportunity to immediately send a message to prevent a critical loss of access to healthcare professionals who are being systematically pressured to violate ethical standards. Here's what's been happening:
- In August 2008, the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) took long-overdue action to address a growing crisis of abortion-related discrimination that could force thousands of conscientious healthcare professionals out of medicine. After several months of public comment on its proposed regulation, in December 2008 HHS finalized a regulation that made clear the protections offered by three civil rights laws passed by Congress with bipartisan support.
- The civil rights laws declare that American tax dollars will not fund programs in which healthcare professionals are fired, penalized or otherwise subjected to discrimination because of their ethical stance related to abortion and other morally controversial issues.
- However, in March 2009, following protests from abortion special interest groups, the new administration officially declared plans to rescind--get rid of--the conscience-protecting regulation. The administration has, as required by law, called for public comment on the proposed plan to get rid of the conscience-protecting regulation, with a deadline of April 9, 2009.

Don't rescind the Right of Conscience rule. Protect health care workers from having to do that which they know is morally wrong. Let them have the right to do what they know is right - that is truly a pro-choice thing to do.
Obama isn't interested in protecting human rights such as freedom of speech or the right of health care workers to refrain from involvement in abortions.
Obama is arrogantly striving to strip the citizens of their rights because he has a dictator mentality.
Obama is bending over backwards to give the abortion industry everything they want, including FORCING (um NOT 'pro-choice') health care workers to violate their own ethics OR ELSE quit their health care careers!
Their is a shortage of abortionists - so what?
That's a GOOD thing! The reason very few health care professionals CHOOSE to not get involved with killing innocent human babies is because they are compassionate, sane, and humane, again - a good thing.
The abortion industry complains about a 'shortage' of abortionists but insists on maximizing abortion sales by using hard sell tactics, lies, and complicity with those who use coercion to get women to 'choose' abortion.
Obama doesn't care that caving to abortion industry pressures to FORCE health care workers to either become involved in abortions or to change their career, will cause a REAL shortage of health care providers - for EVERYONE - not just pregnant women wanting, or being coerced, to abort.
If pregnant women weren't exposed to so much pro-abort (anti-choice) pressures, and if the abortion industry weren't allowed to get away with lying to women about fetal development and what abortion really does to their babies, then there would no longer be a 'shortage' of abortionists. If the women knew what the health care providers knew, very few women would submit to an abortion. The 'shortage' of abortionists is really caused by an artificially inflated number of women seeking abortion, because the abortion industry lies to women and sides with those who put pressure on women to abort.
