Some of you are too young or to new to the pro-life movement to understand how the March began, so here is a history from the March for Life website:
Late in October 1973, grassroots prolife leaders became concerned that January 22, 1974, might come and go without properly memorializing the Supreme Court's infamous abortion decisions and without petitioning Congress for redress. Nellie speaking at the MarchNo established right-to-life organization was prepared to undertake the planning, financial and operational responsibilities for a high impact prolife March on the U.S. Capitol. But, grassroots prolifers wanted to march! About thirty prolife veterans resolved themselves into a committee and began making plans for the first March for Life.
On January 22, 1974, the first March for Life was held on the West Steps of the Capitol. An estimated 20,000 committed prolife Americans rallied that day on behalf of our preborn brothers and sisters.
In 1974, the March for Life was incorporated as a non-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian organization.
Our numbers have gradually risen through the years despite reduced numbers from the snow in 2000 and the terrible 9/11 attacks just months before the March 2002. These growing numbers give testimony to the increasing ranks of prolife Americans and to the importance of the March's work.
I will tell you this: The March for Life is the most under-reported event in Washington, DC. The media consistently ignore the event, even though the last two years it has drawn 200,000 people from all over the United States.
Sadly missing this year, will be a message from the President. President Bush always sent us a message of hope - and for whatever economic mistakes he made, he was consistently pro-life. I am sure we won't be hearing one from our new leader.
If you are going - or even beginning to consider going - please leave a comment. You can find details on the march route at March for Life.

I'm starting with the Air Force soon. Otherwise, I would most definitely be there!
I hope to attend in the future. May God richly bless the efforts of all involved!
Will be there as usual... no matter how cold.

God bless you all so much for what you are doing!!! I wish we had something like the march here in Australia. Though I cannot be there I pray you will grow until all the world will hear and listen to your voices! God bless the little ones and all those who fight to protect them.
I've been there many times and its an incredible experience. This year is so important due to a vehemently pro-abortion new President and it also marks 36 years, which translates to:
50,000,000 deaths-Lord, have mercy.
Let's show Obama, the new Congress and the Supreme Court that we mean business-let's have the best turnout ever!
We will be at the March collecting signatures for the National Redress Of Grievances.
Sadly, due to knee surgery this past Tuesday, I will miss taking part in the Right to Life March 2009. I have gone each year for many years past, often with family but always with other church members.
Good luck in your march and I will pray for our new president to follow his heart and not his party in this issue. He is a religious man and I hope that God will send the Holy Spirit to guide his actions.
God bless you today and all your efforts.
I pray for our president and our country. Even as supposed rates of abortion drop throughout the country, a violence and evil for greater continues to manifest itself in scientific labratories around the world. The malicious destruction of human embryo's. The fusion of animal DNA into Human DNA. Lest we forget that at the moment of conception a human person, one made in the image and likeness of God is created. A Divine spark is fused with a human body and they become one. And as man continues to descend into his most base nature so to does science take that divine spark and in its own way smother it destroy it mock it spit upon it and weave it into a web of devilish deceit. If man will not ascend to God then science will take that which is closest to Him, (His image and Likeness ) down to Hell.
Did you say President Bush was pro-life? Is taking us into a needles war pro-life? Get a grip you crazy brainwashed right-wingers. Bush was no champion of the anti-abortion movement. Republicans have been in office for 20 of the past 28 years and abortion is still legal. What does that tell you about the "pro-life party."??? I don't like abortions either, but we will never go back to criminalizing abortion -- society would never allow that at this point in history. the anti-abortion argument is tire, old argument and there are more important things to worry about. How about a march against poverty, genocides around the globe, greed on Wall Street, CEO pay, preemptive wars, sky-high heath care costs, or child abuse? Silly right wing nutcases.
Child abuse? Abortion is child abuse, child torture and child murder. Liberals believe that you can't put water on a terrorist, but you can rip the arms and legs off a baby. You can't execute a convicted murderer, but you can murder an innocent baby. You can't deprive a terrorist of sleep, but you can deprive a baby of her life.
Poverty? There is no greater poverty than the one that demands the life of a baby to increase your own financial status, whick is standard liberal justification for mass murder of little ones.
Health care? We provide financial relief to poor pregnant women through pregnancy counceling centers. Liberals provide financial incentive to kill her baby.
