The Morality of Supporting the Democratic Party

This may be a bit controversial (at least for some):

The case has been made by a number of writers and ethicists, with quite a bit of persuasiveness, that it is no longer morally permissible to support the Democratic party. So many Democrats have come to that conclusion on their own, in fact, that I can't keep up on all the emails I get from people who have left the party over its radical, anti-life, anti-marriage, and anti-religious positions.

... Unless one is working to change this party into a pro-life party, it's very difficult, if not impossible to justify supporting it.

Sadly, this is becoming more and more so, in my thoughts, too. There is so much that I admire about Democratic principles, but not this. I look forward to the Republican party embracing the eco values that we've depended on the Democrats for, until now.

I totally agree...the democratic way of doing things has really taken it's toll on our families and our children and our morals and values. The liberal illuminati in this country have been warping our way of thinking using celebrities and the MSM to corrupt us. It's time to put an end to it and embrace the conservative Republican right wing side!

to isle dance and mnotaro... did you have a heart attack when Omaba won the election? Are you moving to Canada now? Go ahead and join the neocons and screw up the country with your bigoted and moraly deprived uneducated folks
Good luck
adios

Obama supports the war on terror, the Patriot Act, the FISA law, the continuation of Roe, and more war in Afghanistan. Obama is just as much a neo-liberal as Bush is a neo con.

Of course, Obama has said frequently that he'll escalate the war in Afghanistan.

Democrats have lost their way. 50 million dead since Death Roe and they still want more.

The concealed bigotry is astounding.
-Abortion is the single biggest killer of blacks today.
-Blacks are about 17% of the population, but black children are about 35% of the victims of abortion.
-Abortuaries are found more often in neighborhoods where dark skinned people live.
-Planned Parenthood was caught recently multiple times accepting money from people who wanted to donate it to kill black children.
-Democrats will funnel money to mostly dark skinned people to pay to abort children.
-The founder of Planned Parenthood had a "Negro Project" designed to suppress black population. She believed that non-white races were inferior.

If white men wearing sheets did these things to blacks they'd never see the light of day.

Life begins at conception. Abortion kills that life. Therefore, abortion is murder. If you support a pro-abortion person who will have the power to affect the abortion restrictions, then YOU support abortion.

Obama can balance the budget, end the wars, end poverty, etc., but the one question GOD will ask of him (and all of us) at the "Pearly Gates" is "What did you do for the least of my brethern?"

Pray for the conversion of heart in regards to abortion, so that we can support him in fixing our country.

Most women seeking abortions are white, middle class, and in their 20s. The ethnic group with the largest rate of teen births are black, and they are low-income.

Your comment was a lame attempt at trying to justify the actions of the KKK with the services Planned Parenthood provides.

"Your comment was a lame attempt at trying to justify the actions of the KKK with the services Planned Parenthood provides."

Yissie, you've got a vivid imagination.

The abortion and birth control movements are married to the notion of white supremacy. Margaret Sanger, Planned Parenthood's founder, published a magazine called Birth Control Review. It carried many Nazi-like presentations. She herself spoke to the KKK and enjoyed it greatly. Planned Parenthood recently accepted money specificially donated to abort black children.

When Obama starts sending American money to foreign lands to abort children you can be it won't be to white majority countries. He'll send it to countries where the residents have dark skin.

If you're going to make statistics up at least try to make them somewhat believable. "Most women seeking abortions are white...," isn't even close to being true. Are you too lazy to look it up, too anxious to insult me, or too afraid of the truth?

- 34% of abortion victims are black.
- 22% of abortion victims are Hispanic.
- 34% of abortion victims are white.

In the 86 years leading up to 1968, 3,446 blacks were lynched. The abortion industry kills that many in three days. The KKK must be jealous.

Since Death Roe, over 13 million black children have been murdered by abortion.

http://www.blackgenocide.org/home.html

If not for abortion we might have had our first black president, our first black vice president, or a cure to sickle cell anemia. Instead we've got a half-white president-elect who intends to pay mostly dark skinned women to kill their children.

Excuse me, but since when does presidency have to do with race? I would've voted against McCain even if he was a mix of all ethnicities found on this planet. And black people aren't the only one who get sickle-cell anemia you know. I have it and I'm not black.

And I know exactly where I get my information from. Its from a non-biased factual source that has done ACTUAL research in that field: http://guttmacher.org/in-the-know/characteristics.html

Having abortion become illegal isn't going to help the situation. The women who seek abortions shall die anyways, and we all know why. That is an area the pro-life movement tend to ignore. If abortion becomes illegal, then what? What will happen to the women who are desperate enough to throw their selves down a flight of stairs which results in death? We deny homosexuals of their right to marry and adopt, while 1/2 million children in the US alone are waiting for loving parents to take them in and nurture them. We want to live in a society full of love and compassion, but when you're depriving people of their rights, where is the love and compassion in that? Will you feel better at the end of the day going by what one simple quote in your Holy Book says and stop people after going for their desires, or are you going to make the world a better place by making it safer for us all?

Apparently the irony of a person who calls himself a "black man" who wants to pay women, mostly dark skinned, to kill unborn black children escapes you.

You're dead wrong on your original assertion that, "Most women seeking abortions are white." Your own link to Guttmacher proves it. 41% are white according to your link, which is the same source I used, but from a different survey. You just made up your stat to boost a phony argument.

Very few women died from illegal abortions in they immediate years pre-Death Roe. The primary cause historically for materinal deaths was from infection, the same problem for other surgeries. Once modern antibiotics were developed they cut the death rate to almost zero. Read some of Bernard Nathanson's work. He was a founder of NARAL and has admitted that the abortion industry brazenly lied about maternal deaths that never even occurred.

Women who want abortions don't want to kill themselves, they want to kill someone else. Their baby.

"Love and compassion" doesn't come from the slaughter of 50 million babies. That's hate.

How can someone who clearly called their self a 'mutt' be 'paying' women to get abortions? How does that work exactly? What newspaper have you been reading. I don't have to make up my own stat to prove my argument because its TRUE. And guess what? A lot more women have died from illegal abortions and guess what? Many of them were unreported! In contemporary medicine, more women die giving birth than women who get abortions.

When you live in a country where women are not being given the proper resources to make proper decisions (i.e. family planning), how don't you expect for them to act in desperation? When you're imploding laws like ones that allow pharmacist to refuse women contraception, how is that going to prevent unwanted pregnancies?

I am a woman of color, who grew up in the projects, with poor parents. In my school, we were never taught any sort of comprehensive sex education. We weren't taught anything about contraception. And yet, our teen pregnancy rate was the highest in the state. We did NOT have the resources a teen needs to make healthy decisions when it comes to their sexuality. These girls were forced to drop out of high school to become moms who rely solely on welfare and public housing to feed, clothe, and protect her child (and herself).

I'm assuming that out of these "50 million babies", you were ready to provide for at least 45 million of them (not including their mothers) through your taxes.

And lets be civil here hun, there is no need to make special names when you can just say it normally.

I'm from an urban area too. We were taught comprehensive sexual education in the 5th grade. This was in Virginia during close to the mid 1990's.

Go to the link you provided and you'll find that your statement that, "Most women seeking abortions are white" is false. Most babies killed by abortion are non-white.

Obama's plan to pay for executions:
1. End the Republican Mexico City policy that prevented foreign agencies that kill the unborn from receiving American money. This money will go primarily to nations of dark skinned people.
2. End the Republican Hyde Amendment that prevents the Federal government from paying people to abort poor children, which saves a disproportional amount of black and brown children.
3. Change GWB UN policies that defended poor unborn children.

Obama has put a bounty on the heads of unborn poor children, offering to pay people who kill them.

The number of children on Death Roe is growing.

Do you pay attention to what you write? First you tell me that most women getting abortions are "middle class," then you tell me that 90% of them would be on welfare. ("I'm assuming that out of these "50 million babies", you were ready to provide for at least 45 million of them (not including their mothers) through your taxes.") Which is it, they're middle class or need welfare? Your credibility is waning.

And you could prove that is false how? By posting statistics by biased pro-life websites? Are you also going to discredit this obvious pro-life organization?

http://www.abortionfacts.com/statistics/us_stats_race.asp

Obviously, white middle-class women in their 20s are more likely to have an abortion. Also these are statistics from the mid-90s, and according to CDC (a government agency), its been closely the same since then.

"Which is it, they're middle class or need welfare? Your credibility is waning."

So all of the sudden, having and raising a child is free. These middle class white women in their 20s are obviously recent college grads who are most likely working simply to make a living and to pay of their loans. Raising a child during its first year alone can cost approximately $12,000, not counting any expenses before birth, which I'm assuming is very great. Also, these women are more likely to be unmarried, so the chances of having two incomes to raise the child are incredibly slim. That being said, would you support these social programs if these women would've have been low-incomed?

"Obama's plan to pay for executions:

You have still yet to show me credible, unbiased information to prove this. Stop using the term black, colored, brown, or dark-skinned. Why is one set of people more important than another? It seems like you are using reverse racism to make your point relevant.

The Global Gag Rule made it so no NGOs could go to foreign countries and provide reproductive services to developing and third world countries, which is obviously plagued by STDs, AIDS stricken children, and children born into poverty. Their purpose was to provide women with contraception and education to lower the spread of HIV/AIDS and the amount of children dying. These organizations in no way used American taxpayer dollars at all. Aren't you pro-life? Travel to Darfur and help out the people there. Go to Kenya and try to educate civilians about AIDS. Go feed some kids in Sri Lanka. Go adopt, or sponsor a child in Honduras. Death is a reality, and one we must accept. Life isn't going to make everything better, and neither will death; but why are we worrying about a future that you won't even know about when we already have so much to deal with in the present?

The ability for liberals to hold two opposing views is remarkable.

I think you need to debate yourself. You've claimed that most women who get abortions are both middle class and on welfare. That's what happens when you make thing up as you go along.

Your original link from Guttmacher said, "No racial or ethnic group makes up a majority of women having abortions: 41% are white, 32% are black and 20% are Hispanic."

The latest one you provided has a number of problems.
1. The stats are not from a "pro-life organization." The site says quite clearly that they're from the CDC.
2. The stats are very old, more than a decade.
3. CDC stats are always incomplete. They rely on self-reporting by states and some states don't report.
4. They lump Hispanic women in with white women. While it is true they are biologically Caucasion, rarely are they lumped together for social science.

You don't understand the "Gag Rule." It cut off American money from going to organizations that recommended, suggested or performed abortions. It did not stop them from providing "reproductive services" unless the service was for killing their baby.

Sorry, I can't go to Dafur. I'm a middle class person on welfare.

"If not for abortion we might have had our first black president, our first black vice president..."

I forgot to respond to this: The MINIMUM age to become president/VP is THIRTY FIVE! When was Roe V Wade decided? THIRTY FIVE YEARS AGO! And like I said earlier, race has NOTHING to do with how someone can lead a country. Are you saying that white people are horrible leaders while black people know how to make the economy flourish? There is no direct correlation with race and ability to lead. Your racial argument is only creating bias. It sounds like you don't care about the white children that get 'killed' by abortion.

Quote me where I said that women who get abortions are middle-class and on welfare, pleeeasseee do that. I have said nothing like that. The women who do NOT get abortions are more likely to get on welfare after birth. Who gets welfare for a child they do not have?

Hispanic women are not biologically Caucasian, they are biologically Caucasian, African, and Native/Taino. We do NOT get lumped with white women. We are an ethnicity, thats why there isn't a 'Latino' box for me to check under race when applying to schools, its under ethnicities.

By the way, you need to read the bill over. It did NOT use any of your tax money. It prohibited fund raised money by supporters to not provide any medical services.

And since you cannot go to Darfur, you obviously don't know whats it like to stare preliminary death in the eyes. I have yet to see a pro-lifer take in a child from a third world country and treat them as their own. In fact, I have yet to meet a pro-lifer who convinced a woman to give birth and also help with raising the child financially.

You also have failed to give me credible statistics that prove your statements.

"Quote me where I said that women who get abortions are middle-class and on welfare."

Okay, here it is. "Most women seeking abortions are white, middle class..." And then, "... these "50 million babies", you were ready to provide for at least 45 million of them (not including their mothers) through your taxes."

The statements are not only incompatible, they are false.

I cannot "read the bill over," and neither can you. It isn't a "bill," or law. It is a Republican policy designed to protect children. "The Mexico City Policy...required nongovernmental organizations to agree as a condition of their receipt of Federal funds that such organizations would neither perform nor actively promote abortion as a method of family planning in other nations." With the election of a sick man like Obama, those children are now on Death Roe.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/20010123-5.html

You might notice that it restricts the use of "Federal funds." That means tax dollars, something you imagined did "NOT" go to these agencies.

If it irritates you so much to have hispanic people put in a caucasion category, then don't provide statistics that do just that.

Yessie, you clearly don't understand these issues. You've contradicted yourself on multiple occassions and provided false information many times. Your smear of pro-lifers is typical of pro-abortionists. They try to shut down crisis pregnancy centers run entirely by pro-lifers, then claim pro-lifers don't care about children or women.

50 million abortions. How many will it take before you've had enough? 60 million? 75 million? 100 million?

Without Death Roe we would have had a comparitively larger black population. They would have had correspondingly more political and economic power, vastly improving the opportunity for black leaders including in the White House.

Abortion has served the goal of Planned Parenthood's founder to diminish the black population as abortion kills disproportionately more black children than non-blacks.

American minorities suffer proportionaly far more deaths due to abortion than whites. With the election of Obama, their death toll will rise much faster as he will pay abortionists to kill poor children.

Once again, why are you putting black people on a pedestal? Are they clearly more important than white people? Why does it matter what race is in control? Why is race even an issue in this country? Also, you obviously haven't been keeping up with the US Census; by the year 2042, the white population in the US will officially be a minority since there are so many multi-racial children being born. Why can't we look at diversity as a beautiful thing? What is so bad with having a multi-cultural president? Because a part of him is white? Get over it, race is irrelevant.

There is nothing wrong with diversity. I don't care what color our President is. People have a right to disagree with him on certain issues though. This isn't a monarchy or an authoritarian system.

Agreed. You even have the right to loathe your president. I'm not going to care, that is your opinion and you have every right to it. But I do not see why the race of our leader is at all relevant to anything. No race is superior to any other. Some races have been underprivileged, but it doesn't make them any less or better than other races.

I don't loathe no man or human being. I hate no man. The rest of your statements about race I agree with. Yet, citing accurate stats on race isn't necessary promoting false superiorities or false inferiorities in people at all.

"The statements are not only incompatible, they are false."

So you choose to read what is convenient for you. Let me repeat, raising a child is NOT free. Its not like going to Toys R Us, buying a $25 Baby Bjorn, buying a $2 milk bottle, a bag of $3 diapers and that is it. Raising a newborn from birth to its first year in life costs $12K, not including pre-natal expenses. A single woman who makes $25K is considered middle class, not low income. She will spend most of her income on housing, paying off loans, credit card bills, food, and transportation. Add a baby into the mix and she is and considered low-income. The baby isn't going to feed itself, and the mother isn't going to earn her paycheck by sitting at home feeding her baby.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/20010123-5.html

Here is a link on how the Global Gag Rule has affected my parent's country: http://www.globalgagrule.org/country_dr.htm

GGR also prohibited NGOs from providing abortions to women in cases of rape, incest, or mother's health at risk. That is too extreme. There is a 99.9% chance of a woman dying through an ectopic pregnancy. The only way to save her? Abortion.

"If it irritates you so much to have Hispanic people put in a Caucasian category, then don't provide statistics that do just that."

Hispanic women are NOT under the Caucasian category, why? They are NOT Caucasian, they are considered multi-racial. And since you obviously know everything, then you have every right to give me a credible source backing your statements. You have failed to show me ANY credible sources that backs up ANY of your statements that you claim to be fact.

"Your smear of pro-lifers is typical of pro-abortionists."

This is an issue that has always intrigued me, why is being pro-choice considered being "pro-abortion"?

"They try to shut down crisis pregnancy centers run entirely by pro-lifers, then claim pro-lifers don't care about children or women."

CPCs are breaking the law. It is called false advertising. Why are CPCs under that 'abortion' category in directories? Why are most of the people that work at CPCs not medically trained nor certified? Why do you only provide a home during the pregnancy, but once she gives birth, she is on her own?

"The statements are not only incompatible, they are false."

How resentful are you that more children weren't killed by abortion in your parent's country?

Yissie, you really ought to try to get something right before you lecture others about accuracy. For example, you say, "GGR also prohibited NGOs from providing abortions..." No, not even close. They can murder as many unborn children as they can get their claws into, they just couldn't do it with American Federal funds. Now, thanks to our sicko-elect, they'll get American money to do it.

Then there was this whopper that I chose to let go the first time. "I have yet to see a pro-lifer take in a child from a third world country and treat them as their own."

Maybe you've never heard of Senator John McCain. He has a daughter from Bangladesh. A child he took as his own. From a third world country. Her name is Bridget. Barak Obama, by comparison, has a brother that lives in a shack in a disease and crime infested slum. The shack is made of garbage and BO has never tried to help him.

There's more to the story. Another couple wanted to adopt a baby poor, sick baby, but they couldn't afford her medical bills. The McCain's paid them and she lives with her new family. The Obama's by comparison earned $1,200,000+ from 2000-04 and gave less than 1% to charity.

Open your eyes and your mind.

My dear, no, I'm not resentful at all. I'm more resentful at the fact that many much more children are dying from poverty, AIDS, and other diseases. Is this really what we want to bring our children into? Is that what you want? For a woman to give birth so two weeks later she can watch her child die slowly from AIDS, something that wasn't even their fault? Is that REALLY what you want? If so, then you're just as bad as "pro-abortionist". When the world becomes a place where I do not have to worry about my daughter getting raped, where I do not have to worry about her not being able to access emergency contraception, where I do not have to worry that she contracted a mortal disease, where I do not have to worry that she won't have horrible and inaccurate public education, where there are unnecessary wars going on, where she will not be afraid of speaking of her sexuality openly, that is when I will have a child. Promoting for women in third world countries to keep having children is NOT going to stop the spread of AIDS. Handing them contraception and teaching them comprehensive sex education will.

And exactly how do you know what Obama has done with his money? He did more in his life to help people in his community himself that McCain ever will. Giving people money isn't going to save the world, actually using both your hands will.

And call president-elect Obama all you want, but no matter what, he is our president. I dealt with eight years of Bush. Now you'll have to deal with four, possibly eight, years of Obama. Abortion should NOT be an issue in this country. Why does everyone complain about it? How will me having an abortion affect you personally? Roe v Wade is most likely not to be overturned any time soon.

I agree with much of much of you say. You are dead wrong though in saying that abortion shouldn't be an issue in this country (or you question why people complain about it). We complain about it since abortion is the essence of destruction, murder, and dehumanization. That's why we complain about it. Abortion does affect me personally when innocent babies are dead. Innocent dead people either from war, disease, or by abortion affects all of us. A threat to justice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. In other words, we should speak our mind and use constructive means to counterreact the murderous nature of abortion. Abortion is an issue unfortunately because of many reasons. One reason is that bad rulings like Roe v. Wade exist. Roe forces the federal government to handle the abortion issue. The possibility of us waiting a long time before Roe is gone doesn't escape something. It doesn't escape the fact of the right of pro-life citizens to have their voices heard. We have a right to express our voices and support alternatives to abortion.

I do not, at all, condemn the opinions of pro-life citizens. In fact, I applaud you, that is what makes us a stronger country, the ability to voice our concerns for each other and our country and being able to share that with other citizens, when done in a peaceful manner. I do not talk about people who complain about it, but the simple fact that people let it become such a huge issue, that they eventually turn into single issue voters, when our country has way more important problems to deal with other than abortion. We have two wars and a downward spiraling economy. I shall admit, every other issue in this country is somehow correlated with abortion. With people losing their homes and jobs, who can (or will want to) raise a child in these conditions? With incredibly high health insurance costs already for one person, who can afford it for another? It would be amazing if no woman would have to turn to abortion ever. But with 1/2 million children already in the adoption/foster care system, how confident can a mother feel that her child will be one of the lucky out of 1/2 million that will be taken in and be nurtured by a family? Not to mention that Assisted Reproductive Technologies are becoming increasingly popular for middle/wealthy class families, so the chances of a family adopting decreases. This new Bush proposal where he is allowing anyone in the health care industry to refuse reproductive services to women and force employers to hire pro life employees is NOT going to help the situation. How is being refused a month's worth pack of oral contraceptives going to lower the abortions done in this country? When you're giving hormonal teens inaccurate information about sex, it isn't at all going to lower abortions. I think the only way I could support the overturning of Roe v Wade is if contraception and emergency contraception will never be refused to any woman, be within reasonable price range, and homosexual couples are allowed to adopt. I think in those three instances, no one would even have to worry about abortion simply because there won't even be any. But for now, we have so many barriers against people, and the overturning of Roe v Wade will simply mean back-alley abortions for women who seek them, and with that, possible mortality for the woman herself.

You go on endlessly about the financial needs of people, wildly exaggerating the cost of raising a child, then excuse stingy millionaires like the Obamas.

Their tax records are public. His brother lives in a shack, his Aunt is in poverty and he lives in a mansion. He'll deny money for a poor child to go to a private school, but give money to abort a poor child at a private clinic. What a guy.

Do not look up McCain's tax records. You will be embarrassed by his generosity.

Chicago has little to show for Obama's community organizing. It is the city with more murders than any place in America. The schools are so bad that the Obamas won't let their children near them. They go to an elitist, snobby school for the rich. It costs $20,000 per child. His brother lives on $1 a month.

My concern with Obama's presidency is not for myself. It is for the people that will die because he'll help kill them. They are on Obama's Death Roe.

I suspect that you do not know what PREFAR is. You should, because GWB has probably done more to combat AIDS than any government official ever from any country. PREFAR is the President's AIDS program. It is probably the largest medical program in history to combat one disease. $15 billion for Africa and the Caribbean.

Just wow.
I am breezing through this blog... and it is very interesting the comments here.
I did not vote for BHO or any dems (I never will) because of their stance on abortion.
The thought makes me scream in agony.

Timothy your comment
"We complain about it since abortion is the essence of destruction, murder, and dehumanization."
Is completely right on.
There is one race that does not believe in abortion - muslim.
One day... they will rule this earth.
Dear god save our children.

I know soo SOOO many friends that are ACHING to have a baby, searching to adopt a healthy baby and they do not care what color it is aas long as the kid is healthy.

I will leave now and let you continue in your debate.

Well
I skimmed this argument and would like to put it blatently that just because you are democrat, does not mean that you are immoral.
Republicans do not care fot the pore
are not stewards of the earth
and are against peace

SO vote pro life even if the canidate is adolph reencarniate. (John McCain was not, I somewhat liked him)
