Barack Obama on Abortion - Updated

There are well over 100 reasons to vote against Barack Obama.  From this list I've adapted and expanded those pertaining to abortion and other issues related to the sanctity of human life.  My list of 30 is incomplete (perhaps you have a few to add) and contains some duplicates but should convey the message that Barack Obama has an inadequate and unpresidential appreciation for justice and the dignity of human life.

30 Reasons to Vote Against Barack Obama

Barack Obama voted against and blocked legislation that would have protected infants who were born alive following an unsuccessful abortion. Then he misrepresented his record.

Obama not only opposed IL's Born Alive Infant Protection Act, he took a leadership role to kill it.

Obama called Gianna Jessen, an abortion survivor, a despicable liar after being presented with the truth about his failure to protect babies born alive.

Obama voted against banning the brutal practice of partial-birth abortion.

Barack Obama co-sponsored and supports the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), a radical legislative attempt to enshrine abortion-on-demand into American law, to sweep aside existing laws that the majority of Americans support and to prevent states from enacting protective measures in the future (more here).

Obama promises as his number one prior to sign FOCA into law.

Estimates are that if Obama becomes President and signs FOCA it will lead to 125,000 more abortions each year.

Obama is the most pro-abortion Presidential candidate ever.

Obama would recommend abortion for his daughters if they got pregnant because he wouldn't want them to be "punished with a baby."

When asked when a baby is entitled to human rights. Obama responded that the question was above his pay grade.

Obama supports the killing of human embryos to obtain their stem calls, even though, stem cells can be obtained from other sources that don't involve killing.

Obama co-sponsored a bill which purports to ban human cloning, but allows for Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer. The bill allows for human clones created and experimented on, but forbids allowing them to be place in a woman's womb and be born.

Obama supports federal funding of abortion. He opposes the Hyde Amendment which prevents federal tax dollars from being used to pay for abortion.

Obama's only Harvard Law Review article took a pro-abortion stance.

Obama wrongly claimed that abortions "have not gone down" under President Bush. In fact, the abortion rate has gone down 9 percent, and the annual total has declined by more than 100,000.

Obama is undecided on whether life begins at conception.

Obama is rated 100% by NARAL on pro-choice votes in 2005, 2006 & 2007:

Obama voted NO on defining unborn child as eligible for SCHIP. (Mar 2008)

Obama voted NO on prohibiting minors crossing state lines for abortion. (Mar 2008)

Obama voted YES on expanding research to more embryonic stem cell lines. (Apr 2007)

Obama voted NO on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions. (Jul 2006)

Obama is rated 0% by the The National Right to Life Committee (Dec 2006)

Both Obama and his running mate Joe Biden voted AGAINST extending the health care program to cover pregnant women and their unborn children.

Obama vows to nominate Supreme Court justices that support Roe v Wade

Obama voted against the highly qualified Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito

Obama wants to force taxpayers (and insurance companies) to pay for abortions - supports legislation that would repeal the Hyde Amendment which protects pro-life citizens from having to pay for abortions that are not necessary to save the life of the mother and are not the result of rape or incest.

Obama advocates cutting off all federal aid to pregnancy resource centers, which provide assistance to women who are experiencing crisis pregnancies -- and save the lives of many children.

Obama Is against "conscience-clauses" for pro-life doctors who refuse to do abortions

Obama rejects of the God-given intrinsic dignity of human life

A Barack Obama presidency combined with the Democratic majority in congress will significantly change the course of American history and set pro-life achievements back a generation.

Rather than waste aal this space why don't you just say he's Pro-Choice?

And you might also mention that his policies are far more likely to reduce the current abortion rate than any amount of anti-abortion grandstanding.

Abortion eliminates the choices the unborn has. Obama is the far more pro-abortion than any other Presidential candidate in history. FOCA is in risk of banning all pro-life legislation nationwide. Even NARAL admitted to this reality. Also, I don't believe in being a Kool-Aid drinker of the GOP. Yet, that's the reality. Pro-Life laws have decreased abortion rates for decades as recorded by Dr. Michael Dew.

Exactly what policy would that be, and how would it reduce the abortion rate? Maybe you're referring to his promise to Planned Parenthood the largest provider of abortions in the world) that one of the 1st things (doesn't that speak volumes about his priorities) he will do as President is sign the 'Freedom of Choice Act' which will negate all state laws that somewhat protect and inform women, and would remove laws that have actually reduced abortion?

Being pro-life is about much more than abortion. It is believing in the sanctity of human Life. Mr. Obama according to his own words does not hold to a sanctity of human life. http://www.americaschoicenow.com:80/

Just for your information, I placed a letter to the editor in my local city newspaper, and while it was edited a bit, the following is what I said about why NOT to vote for Obama. Some of it is probably the same as you have up here.

REASONS NOT TO VOTE FOR OBAMA

As Election Day draws near, I thought I should take some time to give my own personal Top Ten list of why voters should NOT vote for Obama. Firstly, I wish to say that I’m not racist. I have no problem with a black president. I have a HUGE problem, though, with Obama as president. As Martin Luther King Jr. once said indirectly, judge those around you “not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character”.
10) The mainstream media, which consists of nearly all news outlets and magazines, tends to see Obama as God. They have such an incredible bias in favor of Obama that anytime Obama is criticized by anyone, they immediately side with Obama. I am aware of at least one magazine and some news outlets that treat Michelle Obama as the best woman there is, and yet treat Cindy McCain, and even Sarah Palin, as complete idiots and even like female dogs. Can we support a man who is treated like the Messiah by the media?
9) Members of the Democratic Party, at several points during the Primary race, were against Obama. Bill Clinton has said that Obama cannot run this country on one year of service. His wife Hillary has said that Obama has only brought a single speech from earlier this decade. The Party’s own VP pick, Joe Biden, has said that “the presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training”. So why are these people backing Obama now? Can we support someone who is not supported by his own party’s people unless under pressure from the party itself?
8) I’ve never heard a man say “uh” so many times. The man cannot speak without a teleprompter. If you notice any of his speeches, he talks best when he is told what to say. Otherwise, in one speech, he could say “uh” and stumble for the right line at least 30 times. Can we support a man who cannot speak without help from someone else?
7) In every ad for Obama I’ve seen, he is always attacking the opposition, rather than attacking the arguments made. Has Obama once attacked an argument made by anyone against him, or does he whine and say that those people are stupid and liars? Can we support a man who cannot look at his opponent’s arguments without attacking the opposition itself?
6) America’s own enemies, such as Hamas, China’s emperor, Al-Qaeda, and others, support Obama, and want him as president. Can we support a man who is supported by people who cry “death to America”?
5) Obama started his campaign on property owned by William Ayers, an American terrorist who bombed the U.S. Capitol building. Ayers was part of the Weatherman Underground terrorist organization, and has shown no remorse for what he has done, even after being set free due to a wiretap issue. Can we support a man who is supported by terrorists from America?
4) I have never seen a man flip-flop so many times on any issue, let alone the issue of Iraq. At some points, he is for the war. At others, he’s against the war. Can we support a man who cannot make up his own mind and shifts his own viewpoints as the times change?
3) Obama has an anti-American posture. According to Obama’s way of thinking, we should send all ICBMs to Russia. It’s a good way to leave America defenseless. He also refuses to place his hand over his heart for the pledge of allegiance, unless he is reminded to do so. He does not wear a flag pin, claiming that it is more patriotic not to wear one. He also has a picture of Che Guevara in his campaign headquarters. Can we support a man who is anti-American and supports anti-American policies?
2) Obama’s association with “Pastor” Jeremiah Wright is astounding. Obama believes he is a Christian man. After listening to this “pastor” for 5 minutes, it is clear that Obama is not Christian. Jeremiah Wright supports Black Liberation Theology, which is nothing else than the black version of the KKK, without the lynching. This “pastor” believed that 9/11 was brought on ourselves, as well as saying “God D*** America” and “U.S. of KKK.A.”. Obama’s rebuttal is that his pastor is like an uncle. You can’t choose your uncles, but you can choose your pastors. After being with this man for 20 years, Obama started back peddling and distancing himself from this “pastor”. Can we support a man whose “moral” upbringing comes from a hate monger?
1) Obama is extreme in his pro-abortion stance. Under the deception of reducing abortions, he hopes to codify Roe vs. Wade, as his first act as president, by signing the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), which would nullify all restrictions on abortion. He is a co-sponsor of FOCA. His pro-infanticide stance is clear from his voting record. He had voted three times in the Illinois State Senate against their version of the Born Alive Infants Protection Act (BAIPA), even after the language was changed to be a virtual clone of the federal BAIPA. The BAIPA was passed unanimously in the U.S. Senate by 98-0. Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, and Barbara Boxer voted for the BAIPA. Even NARAL went neutral. Obama is now lying about his past voting record. He also believes that determining when a human life should first be offered protection is “above my pay grade”. He would not want his daughters “punished with a baby”. If determining when a human life begins is above his pay grade, and it is scientific fact that a human baby beings at conception, then isn’t everything above his pay grade? Can we support a president who cannot protect his country’s citizens, and who has such a pro-abortion record that he believes that even born babies should be denied health care?

I pray and hope zealously that you will consider these facts and vote AGAINST Obama for president.

Barack Obama is better than John Mcain case closed

Ok Kiiiiid, give me one reason why Obama is better than McCain because obviously you couldn't come up with a reason.

Thank you for your web-site my God bless your hands, Pray for Amercia she needs it now more than ever. I hope you will reach as many people as you can with this great truth you present to us thank you so much for your time and the people who help you, we need your voice, shout it as loud as you can thank you Dan.

Mr Joy.. your long winded tirade on Obama is now BS since Obama won by a landslide even voted in by Christians. You should know by now that you can't fool people by your lies and half truths.Obama doesn't have a twisted mind like you guys seem to have on this issue.
Your tactics should be to work with the
prochoice people and try to come up with ways to solve the issues

jose, it wasn't a landslide. Go on, read this: http://www.prolifeblogs.com/articles/archives/2008/11/historic_yes_la.php You'll see that it wasn't. Only the press wants you to believe that, so therefore you do.

Read the truth.

And as for "BS" and "fooling people by your lies and half truths", it was OBAMA who was full of BS and who lied and fooled YOU with his half-truths. You just didn't get all that truth from the mainstream press. We posted a lot about it all here, though: more specifically, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, AND
here...

Enjoy your reading on what they withheld from you. But, you'll probably not read any of it. You don't want to know what you just voted for, in terms of BO's policies and promises.

And I could post all this another dozen times, daily, for the rest of my life, and there would still be people who ignorantly think THEY are the only ones who know the truth. The blindness of so many Obama followers still, and will always, amaze me.

annie B
It was a landslide in my opinion. Most of the links you posted are just BS and lies about obama.. Are you guys racists also?I guess you will be amazed when you find out that Obama is proven to be the opposite of what you nice people make of him.
Common be nice and like your new president..you won't regret it
Goodbye Annie
