At just 23-weeks, this baby was pronounced dead by doctors but later revived after spending hours in a hospital refrigerator:
"We unwrapped her and felt she was moving. We didn't believe it at first. Then she began holding my mother's hand, and then we saw her open her mouth," said 26-year-old Faiza Magdoub, the baby's mother. My first reaction to this story was the realization that miracles happen (HT: Mary). What joy these parents must have felt when they went to the morgue in mourning only to find their baby was alive. The baby was pronounced dead several hours earlier, after doctors at Western Galilee hospital in northern Israel were forced to abort her mother's pregnancy because of internal bleeding.
However, I couldn't help thinking about Barack Obama's infamous vote against protecting children in this situation. In the process of justifying his opposition to the IL infanticide ban, Obama opposed this statement:
A live child born as a result of an abortion shall be fully recognized as a human person and accorded immediate protection under the lawIn doing so, Obama declared the existence of a class of individuals not worthy of the legal right of protection. This is well beyond any Supreme Court decision and truly an assertion way beyond Obama's pay grade. Even the most adamant pro-abort will at least agree babies acquire human rights when they have completely delivered. (Jill Stanek)
Update: Paul Ibrahim had the same thought.
