Controversy surrounding embryonic stem cells has consumed an elicit amount of time and unethical research in this area has been unabashedly promoted on the basis of hype and ill-formed promises. An amazing breakthrough involving adult stems cells ought to silence those in favor of harvesting cells from early humans:
Scientists have transformed one type of fully developed adult cell directly into another inside a living animal, a startling advance that could lead to cures for a variety of illnesses and sidestep the political and ethical quagmires associated with embryonic stem cell research.Despite the long road ahead prior to human application, the new technology is a remarkable achievement and the researchers ought to be congratulated.[snip]
The experiments, detailed online yesterday in the journal Nature, raise the prospect that patients suffering from not only diabetes but also heart disease, strokes and many other ailments could eventually have some of their cells reprogrammed to cure their afflictions without the need for drugs, transplants or other therapies.
Earlier this, ESCR received (another) fatal blow by published research which concluded that human embryonic stem cells are rapidly rejected by the immune system. Of course, the FDA has yet to approve any clinical trial with embryonic stem cells because these cells (whether growing or even pre-differentiated) have a nasty tendency to form cancerous tumors (FRC Blog).
Unfortunately, the technological failures and identification of a replacement for ESCR doesn't resolve the clash of worldviews and divergent moral standards that remain at the heart of the issue.

Adult Stem cell sources and donations of these should be mass advertized to the general public, much the same way blood donations, eye donations and organ dobnations on drivers licenses. The general public ignorance is being utilized to leverage and guide social engineering. Personal choice is getting in the way of generating both the "Great American Race" and the "Great American Religion".
Although it is true that stem cells from adults reflect the adult's actual age (as seen in the cloned baby sheep Molly succumbing to old age related conditions)and this may be the reason only infant stem cells are favorable; one must remember some of the most sucessful drugs on the market today cure no illnesses other than baldness and impotancy. What a great drug would it be to actually return youth to those who can afford it.
Unregulated procreation (within similar traditions and social groups) may be delaying the Social Engineers agenda. It is reported that the population of many western countries have in gone into decline and, in fact, many have achieved levels of death phase growth rates. Modern life and its choices are blamed, but who is to say that, difficult to reproduce, synergistic reactions between food additives are not compounding the problems.
Since the "New Truth" is becomming simply defensible information, scientific and otherwise, groups such as this are required to get your interpretation of this data out into the public, and establish independent, self sustaining and immune methods of getting it out there.
We can use adult stem cells. Technology has made much head way with these. They are good.
Aside from the immorality of murdering an innocent, why do we even need stem cells from embryos?
We do not.
