I can't emphasize enough: Planned Parenthood masquerades as a non-profit while receiving millions in your tax dollars to fund programs like this - and to lobby against abstinence funding and pro-life candidates. In other words, you are paying every day to keep their juggernaut rolling.

Parents, you need to make your voices heard! Please consider joining STOPP:

STOPP is an organization of parents. Parents who share the belief that we have the God-given right and obligation to raise our children, from the moment of conception. Parents who believe that our obligation extends to making sure that any monies collected from us (either by the government, by a company that sells us products, or by some charitable fund) is not used to support the slaughter of innocent babies or the abuse of our growing children. And, finally, parents who believe our school systems should be dedicated to educating our children on basic skills and not using their time for the social engineering programs of PP and other groups.

"Will God forgive me if I have an abortion?" It's a question many women have. I didn't realize how common a question it is until I wrote about this subject last time. Perhaps you are thinking about an abortion or already had one and are wondering about this. If so, please keep reading, and I think you'll find your answer.

If you are asking this question, you already know that God views abortion as a sin--as murder in fact. So the question is, what is God's criteria for forgiveness of a sin? Or more simply: What do I need to do to be forgiven?

For many years, we have heard pro-choicers give numerous reasons for their position, such as: It's in the woman's body, so it's her decision; it's not a human; it's a human, but it will interfere with my work or school; I'm just not ready to have a child, etc. When you examine all the justifications closely, it seems that there is one underlying reason for abortion. It clearly is a self-centered view of the world by the people involved in the abortion decision. Even the title "pro-choice" could easily be changed to "pro-me" or "pro-self," and it would mean exactly the same.

Over the past 30-40 years, our culture has changed, in general, from one of self-sacrifice and sense of community to one of being self-centered. In the 1950s and 1960s, many families had five or six children. You were taught that you were one of a group, and the world did not revolve around you. In general, children didn't go on long vacations every year. If you did, the parents really sacrificed economically so the whole family could drive to Disneyland or wherever. You learned by watching your parents about the sacrifices you had to make to raise a family.

Although none of the Supreme Court's decisions this session directly impact abortion, I believe some of these cases relate directly to our culture's respect for life.

In District of Columbia v. Heller, the court overturned the D.C. gun ban--a victory for life. It makes little sense, indeed, to say a person has a right to life, but lacks the right to protect that life. The right to self-defense flows from the inherent worth of the individual created in the image of God.

As William Blackstone explained in his Commentaries on the Laws of England, "Both the life and limbs of a man are of such high value, in the estimation of the law of England, that it pardons even homicide if committed ... in order to preserve them." Blackstone also wrote that the right of "having arms for their defense" is an auxiliary to "the natural right of resistance and self-preservation, when the sanctions of society and laws are found insufficient to restrain the violence of oppression."

Carly Fiorina, former Hewlett-Packard CEO, has been touted as one of John McCain's potential vice-presidential picks.

But on July 7, Fiorina exposed herself as either a political airhead or saboteur by handing pro-aborts a wider opening to attack McCain than they could possibly have fantasized....

Since early this year, NARAL has been sounding the alarm that its polling showed independents and pro-abortion Republicans have taken McCain's "maverick" reputation to mean he bucks his party's platform and is pro-abortion.

But recently, pro-abortion groups have adopted the deceptive strategy of portraying McCain as anti-contraception.

mccain fiorina.jpg

Apparently, their follow-up polls showed McCain's simply being anti-abortion has not raised the dander of targeted voters, particularly in light of mounting evidence that Barack Obama is an abortion extremist....

So Fiorina could not have played more perfectly into pro-abort hands.

On July 10, a reporter asked McCain about Fiorina's mother of all verbal gifts to pro-aborts.

This prompted "some of the most riveting campaign footage of the entire year so far," reported MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. You can view it in its entirety online here....

MATTERS OF LIFE AND DEATH

WorldNetDaily Exclusive

Father: 'System' killing my disabled daughter
'If they treated a dog this way, they would be doing jail time'

The father of a disabled Delaware woman who recently earned the support of state lawmakers says the system - of courts, lawyers, hospitals and disability agencies - literally is combining to bring about the death of his daughter.

"The court system should not have the right to impose this kind of treatment on a mentally disabled person," Randy Richardson told WND today. His daughter, Lauren Richardson, has been disabled since an apparent drug overdose nearly two years ago.

Judie Brown of the American Life League recently issued a call to those who are concerned about such cases to help.

"The governor of Delaware, Ruth Ann Minner, is being asked by pro-life Americans across this nation to intervene in this case in order to save Lauren from what many fear is an imminent court order dictating that Lauren be starved and dehydrated to death," she wrote. "I am asking you to be one of those who communicates your passionate belief that Lauren's life is sacred and deserves to be protected from those who would order her death. The governor's e-mail address is governor.minner@state.de.us."

CNN reported July 11 that according to the National Institutes of Health, U.S. teen pregnancies in 2006 rose for the first time since 1991....

In the same article, CNN reported a "striking decrease" in the percentage of 8th graders smoking....

While federal health experts were at a loss to explain the spike in teen pregnancies, a CDC official said smoking abated due to "efforts convincing kids and adults not to smoke," according to CNN.

So teaching smoking abstinence works, reminiscent of last decade's "Just Say No" drug abstinence campaign.

It would make sense to teach kids to abstain from the harmful behavior of premarital sex.

But no. The Associated Press reported June 24 that 22 state governors have now rejected federal grant money to teach sexual abstinence, with "participation in the program... down 40% over two years."...

Meanwhile, a Ugandan AIDS-Prevention Committee member wrote a remarkable op-ed in the Washington Post June 30, stating....

The proportion of Ugandans infected with HIV plunged from 21% in 1991 to 6% in 2002. But international AIDS experts... said we were wrong to try to limit people's sexual freedom. Worse, they had the financial power to force their casual-sex agendas upon us....

The creation of Connie Wenk, whose photographs of children with Down syndrome capture something the geneticists urging abortion would never be able to tell prospective parents about. Please go see them now at her website! They are the most beautiful I've ever seen.

Connie Wenk also has a blog with more pictures - and fun for anyone who's studied German (two years for me - plus four years of Latin and three years of French - but really love German best).

Black pro-lifers to ask NAACP to oppose taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood
Day Gardner: Planned Parenthood has basically bought off Barack Obama

Cincinnati, Jul 10, 2008 / 06:06 pm (CNA).- A group of pro-life African-American pastors and other leaders plans this coming Monday to ask the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) to join them in demanding that over $300 million in taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood be stopped. Ms. Day Gardner, one of the leaders of the effort, charges that Planned Parenthood is a "racist organization" which has "bought off" presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama.

The group includes NAACP delegate Loretta Grier, Day Gardner of the National Black Pro-Life Union, Levon Yuille of the National Black Pro-Life Caucus, and Alveda King, niece of the civil rights leader Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Explaining their motives in a press release, they argue that Planned Parenthood should be defunded for reasons like the revelation earlier this year that a Planned Parenthood development director was willing to accept a donation from an actor posing as a racist donor. In his call to the fundraiser, the supposed donor claimed he wanted to target black babies for abortions.

The group also cites Alan Guttmacher Institute and Center for Disease Control statistics showing that a "huge majority" of abortion clinics are located in minority neighborhoods. They further cite investigations of Planned Parenthood in Kansas for falsifying documents and preparing illegal late-term abortions and also note accusations that California Planned Parenthood has defrauded taxpayers of over $180 million.

Klan Parenthood - from their site:

In America today, almost as many African-American children are aborted as are born.

A black baby is three times more likely to be murdered in the womb than a white baby.

Since 1973, abortion has reduced the black population by over 25 percent.

Twice as many African-Americans have died from abortion than have died from AIDS, accidents, violent crimes, cancer, and heart disease combined.

Every three days, more African-Americans are killed by abortion than have been killed by the Ku Klux Klan in its entire history.

Planned Parenthood operates the nation's largest chain of abortion clinics and almost 80 percent of its facilities are located in minority neighborhoods.

About 13 percent of American women are black, but they submit to over 35 percent of the abortions.

What the Ku Klux Klan Could Only Dream About The Abortion Industry is Accomplishing

Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, in her own words

"The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it."
Margaret Sanger, Women and the New Race
(Eugenics Publ. Co., 1920, 1923)

The Negro Project: Margaret Sanger's Eugenic Plan for Black Americans

Planned Parenthood: predators, profits and black genocide

Now: would someone please pass the word on to Barack and Michelle Obama that they are in a position to lead the country out of the national nightmare/disgrace of a selfish philosophy which says it's okay to murder babies when they are inconvenient or imperfect?

Black people have traditionally been strong Christians, but they have been duped by the Democrat party who promised to take care of them - but the compromise was their support of abortion. Witness the "evolution" in thinking of Jesse Jackson (See his 1977 essay How we respect life is the over-riding moral issue).

Martin Luther King would never have supported abortion (see Martin Luther King, Jesse Jackson and Black Genocide).

Note to Mr. and Mrs. Obama: please pray and rethink this. Planned Parenthood has bought off politicians all over the country - most notably Governor Sibelius of Kansas, who parties with the Planned Parenthood crowd and credits them with her win.

That Planned Parenthood endorsed you, Mr. Obama, is a mark of shame and sadness. You say you want change: let's make that change leading people out of darkness and into the light.

From SPUC Blog

Alison Davis, who has spina bifida, and leads No Less Human, a division within SPUC, says:

"The story of Mrs. Seema Sood explains in a nutshell why allowing legalised killing of vulnerable people by euthanasia is wrong. Mrs. Sood, who is now 37, longed for death two years ago, and even petitioned the President of India for euthanasia. She had lost all movement of her limbs for 15 years following a severe attack of rheumatoid arthritis, and was in despair. Now two years later, after surgery paid for by the Government of her state and her university alumni association, she says 'I regret the letter to the President. Everything was so dark for me ealier, but I'm excited about my mobility now and I'm confident I will improve.'

"Euthanasia would have robbed Mrs. Sood of the chance to recover her love of life, and to benefit from the surgery which revolutionised her life, and no one would have known that life held something better for her in the future. She is not the only vulnerable person who has changed her mind about wanting to die. I've been through the same experience myself.

"But euthanasia allows for no changes of mind. It is the philosophy of despair. What sick and disabled people who want to die really need is the sort of help and support which Mrs. Sood received both from politicians and her friends. Note well, politicians. Your actions could save a life like Mrs. Sood's rather than condemning her and others to death."

SBA List President, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) Call for De-Funding of Planned Parenthood, "Wal-Mart of big abortion"

Washington - Yesterday Representatives Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) and Chris Smith (R-NJ) organized a special order on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to call for an end to federal taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood.

"The idea that Planned Parenthood cares one wit about reducing the 'need for abortion' is absurd," said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. "But even if this were a sincere claim on their part, they have failed miserably by their own measure. The number of abortions Planned Parenthood performs continually rises, this year reaching 290,000. It is past time to de-fund Planned Parenthood. It is time for a taxpayers' revolt."

Planned Parenthood is the nation's number one abortion provider, providing 290,000 abortions last year. Planned Parenthood provided nearly one in five abortions nationwide in 2005, the latest year nationwide abortion statistics are available.

In her testimony on the House floor, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) referenced a recent Wall Street Journal investigation highlighting Planned Parenthood's recent appeal to the affluent in her congressional district. The article cited opening of "express centers in wealthy Minnesota suburbs" with the purposes of appealing to women who are "already doing their grocery shopping, picking up their Starbucks, living their daily lives."

"They are big business. They are the Wal-Mart of big abortion," said Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN). "They are the big box retailer. It's time to end their tax exempt status. It's a fraud. It is time to stop the public financing of Planned Parenthood -- it is the right thing to do."

According to its latest annual report, Planned Parenthood posted total revenues of $1,017,900,000 - over one billion dollars. Nearly one third of that -- $336.7 million - came from "government grants and contracts." In 2007, the U.S. Congress under new Democratic Leadership approved a $17 million dollar increase in federal taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood through the Title X Program. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and the Susan B. Anthony List opposed the increase.

The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of Americans, over 146,000 residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.

News Flash - Rock for Life has uploaded videos of the U. S. Representatives who today challenged the government funding of Planned Parenthood. Listen to NJ's Rep. Chris Smith:

"It's time for us to take a serious, and for some, a second look at Planned Parenthood, its origins, and the fact that since 1973, the year the US Supreme Court issued its famous Roe. v. Wade decision, and legalized abortion, that approximately 4.5 million babies, disproportionately African-American and hispanic, have died in Planned Parenthood clinics."

"Planned Parenthood ought to be called 'Child Abuse Incorporated' for the 4.5 million children it has already killed"

"For Planned Parenthood, business is good. Violence against children pays handsomely." -- Rep. Chris Smith, New Jersey

You can see and hear them all at Rock for Life's YouTube page, which also offers a guided ultrasound tour of a baby developing toward birth.

200px-Elizabeth_Cady_Stanton_and_Susan_B._Anthony.jpg

Pictured above are Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, founding mothers of the women's suffrage movement, whose never-give-up passion for politics won women the right to vote.

Did you know they were anti-abortion?

In her publication The Revolution, Susan wrote:

"Guilty? Yes. No matter what the motive, love of ease, or a desire to save from suffering the unborn innocent, the woman is awfully guilty who commits the deed. It will burden her conscience in life, it will burden her soul in death; But oh, thrice guilty is he who drove her to the desperation which impelled her to the crime!"

In a letter to Julia Ward Howe, October 16, 1873, recorded in Howe's diary at Harvard University Library, Elizabeth wrote:

"When we consider that women are treated as property, it is degrading to women that we should treat our children as property to be disposed of as we see fit."

While you wrap your mind around those quotes, consider also that there are groups of liberals who are also passionately pro-life - unrepresented by the Democrat Party with which they identify on other issues (after all, the Democrat party says it wants to protect the most vulnerable and needy parts of our population, which makes it ironic that they advocate killing the most defenseless of all) and ignored by the Mainstream Media.

Here are organizations identifying themselves as liberal, progressive, or feminist that also seek to bring liberals out of denial about the moral/ethical significance of abortion

Feminists for Life

Democrats for Life of America

Also, the Susan B. Anthony List is a diverse network of over 145,000 Americans dedicated to advancing, mobilizing and representing pro-life women in the political process.

More early feminist anti-abortion quotes at Voices of Our Feminist Foremothers

Also see my Pro-Life Leftists entry.

Which leads me to muse on Obama and his recent feeble attempts to backtrack on his impeccable pro-abortion record - he even voted against a bill to provide medical attention for babies who survived botched abortions.

I'd like to believe that Obama has an open mind. But even as he tries to sound a bit more moderate (no partial-birth abortions for mental distress - meaning you can't stick a pair of scissors into a 39-week-old unborn baby's skull in utero because the mother says the baby will ruin her life), I am afraid this is just pandering. Planned Parenthood continues to sing his praises, as if they know his "softening" position is just for show. If he were sincere, then wouldn't he call a press conference - a la his big to-do on patriotism - to tell us that when it comes to defending the defenseless he's changed his mind?

America does need a change. But so far I am not seeing Obama deliver.

Building your base by pandering to voting blocs like Planned Parenthood and Old School Liberals is an old and tired idea. I think America is ready for a new and revitalized Democrat Party - not one based on promising financial help to every group with a gripe, but one willing to revisit some entrenched ideas. Remember that the right to own slaves was once deeply entrenched in the national psyche.

When it comes to change and hope, when will Obama stop talking the talk and begin walking the walk? When will he stop talking about it and model it for his constituents?

True leadership means seeing the way things should be and taking a risk to lead people where they've been too afraid or selfish to go. If your strong convictions win you the White House - wonderful. But no more pandering and outrageous promises to special interest groups, please.

I am feeling compelled these days to pray without ceasing for this man who might be our next President - I just don't see the courage of conviction or energy in the McCain camp to win the presidency, do you? - and who actually has some very likable qualities. I pray it's not about image but about sacrifice and service. I pray he is listening to someone other than his political advisers - although he's reportedly sworn off church for the remainder of his campaign. I pray that he will grow in wisdom. I pray that his call for change and hope would not be empty rhetoric, aimed at stirring people's emotions to win him votes - but a recognition that he too is not above the need for change.

I pray that his claim to faith means that his heart is not set in stone, but that God can write new words upon it - words of life and the dignity of every human being, born and unborn.

True words of hope and change.

A CNN reporter interviewing me a couple weeks ago about Barack Obama's opposition as state senator to the Illinois Born Alive Infants Protection Act groaned more than once that this topic was "complicated."

She was referring to Obama's various explanations through the years for blocking Born Alive and lately his outright denial that obstructing legislation declaring live aborted babies legal persons had anything to do with endorsing their death.

I finally emailed her, "It is clear: Obama strongly opposed legislation to protect abortion survivors. This is horrible, so of course he will try to make it 'complicated,' but it is not."

Obama has recently been ratcheting up the obfuscations....

Obama may have set a new record in a July 1 Relevant magazine interview, rattling four excuses in one soundbite, all previously outlined in my January 2008 column, "Obama's 10 reasons for supporting infanticide" - Nos. 1, 6, 7 and 10!...

Legislator: Law allows banishment of Bible
'This is written so anybody can take any part and grow it into monstrosity'

Author Janet Folger at a news conference announcing a campaign to challenge Colorado's new anti-'discrimination' law
A lawmaker in Colorado who challenged the authors of SB200, a new law that bans discrimination based on the "perception" of gender, contends it was written to give a wide open door to anyone who wants to banish Christian beliefs or the Bible.

"This is so loaded. It's written in an open-ended fashion that anybody can take just about any part of it and grow it into a huge monstrosity," state Rep. Kevin Lundberg told WND today. "It was written with intentional [vagueness]."

He spoke with WND after a news conference at which a number of groups and organizations announced plans to challenge the law. Among those promising to dispute the new limitations on speech and actions was Liberty Counsel, which is reviewing the situation now in preparation for a legal challenge.

"Section 8 of Senate Bill 200 is a wide open door for any judge to censor anything that condemns homosexuality, including Scripture," Lundberg said at the news conference. Section 8 is headlined, "Publishing of discriminative matter forbidden."

On June 25, CNN's Wolf Blitzer asked conservative commentator Bill Bennett what question he would ask Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama if he could.

Bennett said he would ask Obama:

Why are you to the left of NARAL, Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein when it comes to abortion? Are you really there?.... I got to question the guy's moral judgment who doesn't see a problem with killing a baby after it's been born.... What is the answer to that question?

Bennett was speaking about Obama's opposition to Illinois' Born Alive Infants Protection Act as state senator....

(To which Obama defender Donna Brazile responded, "Bill, you want to have a conversation about narrow issues... but the American people want to talk about gas prices....")

Over the years, Obama or his surrogates have mischaracterized Illinois' Born Alive Act and his reasons for opposing it at least 10 different ways.

But Obama's most flagrant lie, perpetuated by both NARAL and the Obama campaign after CNN ran a fair analysis on June 30 of Obama's opposition to Born Alive, is as NARAL wrote in a rebuttal....
