NARAL Pro-Choice America's choice to endorse Barack Obama as the Democratic nominee for president, rather than Hillary Clinton, has proven to be a divisive issue -- for NARAL.
"Naral Picks Obama, and Uproar Breaks Out," reports the New York Times. Why Barack and not old reliably abortion-friendly Hillary?
Nancy Keenan, NARAL's president, claimed that the endorsement's timing was necessary "because because Senator John McCain the presumptive Republican nominee, who opposes abortion rights, was getting a 'free ride.'"
The group's Political Director Elizabeth Shipp's comments on NARAL's choice are more telling:
Ms. Shipp also said there was a feeling that endorsing Mr. Obama at a high-profile juncture might help Naral shed its image as an organization for white women only.
What nonsense!
NARAL's wish to attract minorities is a response to growing awareness in the African-American community of the disproportionate number of abortions performed there.

Bravo to groups like the National Black Pro-Life Union, LEARN (Blackgenocide.org), ProLifeUnity, individuals like Alveda King and many others, who save lives by speaking truth to NARAL's power.

Virtually all gender selection abortions destroy unborn female human beings, and the rate of abortions in black communities is 3x that of whites, so NARAL et al pull off a double-play of appealing to misogynists and racists.
Excellent point, Neil.
