Margaret Sanger wrote about her Ku Klux Klan speech in her autobiography, "I accepted an invitation to talk to the women's branch of the Ku Klux Klan...I saw through the door dim figures parading with banners and illuminated crosses...I was escorted to the platform, was introduced, and began to speak...In the end, through simple illustrations I believed I had accomplished my purpose. A dozen invitations to speak to similar groups were proffered." (Margaret Sanger: An Autobiography, P.366)

What did she say in her talk at the KKK Rally that led to twelve more invitations? Well, take a look at some of her past quotes:

1) "We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don't want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population. and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members."

Margaret Sanger's December 19, 1939 letter to Dr. Clarence Gamble, 255 Adams Street, Milton, Massachusetts. Original source: Sophia Smith Collection, Smith College, North Hampton, Massachusetts. Also described in Linda Gordon's Woman's Body, Woman's Right: A Social History of Birth Control in America. New York: Grossman Publishers, 1976.

2) "Eugenic sterilization is an urgent need ... We must prevent multiplication of this bad stock."

Margaret Sanger, April 1933 Birth Control Review.

3) "Our failure to segregate morons who are increasing and multiplying ... demonstrates our foolhardy and extravagant sentimentalism ... [Philanthropists] encourage the healthier and more normal sections of the world to shoulder the burden of unthinking and indiscriminate fecundity of others; which brings with it, as I think the reader must agree, a dead weight of human waste. Instead of decreasing and aiming to eliminate the stocks that are most detrimental to the future of the race and the world, it tends to render them to a menacing degree dominant ... We are paying for, and even submitting to, the dictates of an ever-increasing, unceasingly spawning class of human beings who never should have been born at all."

Margaret Sanger. The Pivot of Civilization, 1922. Chapter on "The Cruelty of Charity," pages 116, 122, and 189. Swarthmore College Library edition.

4) "The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it."

Margaret Sanger (editor). The Woman Rebel, Volume I, Number 1. Reprinted in Woman and the New Race. New York: Brentanos Publishers, 1922.

5) "Birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race."

Margaret Sanger. Woman, Morality, and Birth Control. New York: New York Publishing Company, 1922. Page 12.

6) "Eugenics is ... the most adequate and thorough avenue to the solution of racial, political and social problems.Margaret Sanger. "

Tiny English tots who survive near-death-due-to-premature-birth are giving voices to their permanently silenced aborted peers, according to news from the United Kingdom:

"Pro-life outrage as hundreds of children survive after being born within the legal abortion time," reported the Daily Mail on March 27.

Hundreds of children are surviving after being born within the legal abortion time limit, official figures reveal.

Data from the Department of Health shows that 909 children were born between 22 and 24 weeks of pregnancy during 2005.

Of those, 250 survived for at least a year. The remainder of the story, here, explains that British pro-lifers will present these figures, and more, in arguing their case that the timing for abortions should be lowered from 24 weeks to 20 weeks when Parliament addresses the upcoming Human and Fertilisation and Embryology Bill in the next few weeks.

Pro-life issues receive little to no attention this political season.

News focused on such seems scarce, except for this kooky item from Idaho involving a candidate who changed his name to "Pro-Life." Pro-Life is an independent who hopes to win the U.S. Senate seat abandoned by Sen. Larry Craig who retired in disgrace after tapping his feet while warming an airport bathroom stall seat.

CBS News reported, here, on Marvin Richardson's name change last week. The organic strawberry farmer tried, but failed, to legally make "Pro-Life" his middle name when he ran without success for governorship of Idaho in 2006.

The appearance of Pro-Life's name on the ballot led to concerns among pro-life leaders and election officials that voters might be confused and pull too many levers in choosing their senator. If that happened, voters could cancel out their own votes.

So the Idaho state Senate proposed and unanimously passed "legislation to require that a candidate who changes his or her name to a political slogan have a parenthetical note after the name on the ballot, stating, 'A person formerly known as ...'" yesterday, as the Spokesman Review reports in full here.

The bill is likely to pass in Idaho's House.

Thus, Pro-Life, formerly known as Marvin Richardson, brings a neglected issue to the attention of voters in the Gem State.

You've gotta give the guy credit for trying.

From Newsbusters

Even with the departure of Rosie O'Donnell, The View continues to to be the lowest circle of that outer darkness known as daytime TV. In yesterday's program, Whoopi Goldberg gushes over Jack Kevorkian's run for Congress.

...euthanasia, like race, is one of those things nobody wants to talk about. It makes people very uncomfortable. I think euthanasia is, is an important thing and it should be there for people to make that decision if they chose to. It should be available to them with counseling like a lot of other things. And I'm a big fan of Jack's because he believed that he could help people who were in, in a place where no one was helping them. And where, where it was too much.

Vital Signs Blog reports how Dana Goldstein, a proud promoter of abortion, even the particularly gruesome procedure known generally as partial-birth abortion, has taken space on the blog RH Reality Check to defend Barack Obama from "the beginnings of a conservative smear campaign against Obama's very real history of support for reproductive freedom."

News of continuing anti-abortion protests outside of the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic, the one that was hoodwinked into Aurora, Ill., last year, raised a question for me.

First the story. "Abortion clinic protesters have no plans to stop" reports the The Beacon News of suburban Chicago in a nicely balanced piece with voices from both sides of the issue.

Fortunately, one of the pro-life voices in the story was the Pro-Life Action League's Eric Scheidler, one of the movement's most effective communicators. (Eric is also the son of the Action Leagues's founder and anti-abortion icon Joe Scheidler.)

Eric Scheidler is identified as "an Auroran" in The Beacon story.

So here's my question.

What was Planned Parenthood's leadership thinking in building one of their superclinics in Eric Scheidler's backyard?

The Culture of Death in Australia has take a new technological twist:

AN 81-year-old Gold Coast man built, and yesterday used, an intricate suicide machine to remotely shoot himself, after downloading the plans from the internet.

The Burleigh Heads man, who lived alone, left notes of his plans and thoughts as he struggled to come to terms with demands by interstate relatives that he move out his home and into care.

He spent hours searching the internet for a way to kill himself, downloaded what he needed and then built a complex machine that would remotely fire a gun.

... Dr. Seuss's widow, Audrey Geisel... is a pro-abort who has given money to Planned Parenthood.

Dr. Seuss, aka Theodor Geisel, was also reportedly a pro-abort. Said his biographer Philip Nel, "[D]uring his lifetime Seuss threatened to sue an anti-abortion group unless they took ["A person is a person, no matter how small"] off their stationery... but it's still used."

Indeed.

ABC News reported March 17:

Kristi Burton, who leads Colorado for Equal Rights... led a group of several dozen activists who attended the movie premiere of "Horton Hears a Who" in Denver... and hand[ed] out T-shirts with Horton's famous statement.

Thumbnail image for horton.jpg

That could get them in trouble with Dr. Seuss Enterprises....

Burton insists her group talked to attorneys to make sure they could reprint the sentence on their shirts. A lawyer for Dr. Seuss Enterprises did not return calls seeking comment.

I hope the good widow and her multi-million dollar company have undergone a change of heart, if only because fewer kids mean fewer book sales.

But my guess is they have opted against provoking an obvious public relations nightmare....

The Philadelphia Inquirer published a commentary by Robert P. George, Princeton's McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence and the author of "Embryo: A Defense of Human Life," on Sunday.

The op-ed, here, was entitled "McCain is a good friend to the unborn: Despite some disagreements, he is generally -- and reliably -- pro-life." It was prominently displayed and ran with this prominently displayed illustration:

20080316_inq_cu1george09-a.jpg

Professor George made a strong case for pro-life support of John McCain in this year's presidential election. Here's one gem from his commentary:

Few elections in our lifetime have been as consequential for the pro-life cause as this year's is likely to be. The next president will likely determine the course of the Supreme Court for decades to come, and will make the difference between continuing the progress made by the pro-life movement in the past three decades or reversing course and reinforcing a culture of abortion and embryo destruction that rejects fundamental human equality.

All pro-lifers, especially those concerned about McCain's stance on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research, will find something worthwhile in reading the entire commentary from an unapologetic pro-life academic and defender of the unborn.

Congressman Mike Pence (R-IN), who I supported for minority leader in the House, has proposed an amendment to the appropriations bill for the Departments of Labor and Health & Human Services. The amendment would prohibit distribution of federal funds to Planned Parenthood, America's largest abortion provider.

From CNS News:

Pence said his amendment mirrors the so-called "Mexico City policy" that currently prohibits federal funding for family planning programs overseas that perform or promote abortions.

"We don't give any U.S. tax dollars to any foreign family planning organization that promotes or provides abortion as a means of birth control," Pence said.

"We do that because we recognize that whatever Americans believe about abortion, they understand that it's morally wrong to take the taxpayer dollars from millions of Americans who find abortion morally objectionable and use it to support organizations that promote abortion overseas," he added.

It does seem rather hypocritical to prohibit other countries from using our money to perform a morally reprehensible procedure, while continuing to fund organizations which perform abortions in our own country.

Here's the rub. Title X funding is only to go to non-abortion family planning practices. And Planned Parenthood claims they don't mix their "apples and oranges." No one takes issue with this, as it is commonly recognized that these funds are necessary particularly for low income families. Pence's argument is that the money is fungible. In other words, because the federal government provides so much money to offset the costs of non-abortion birth control, Planned Parenthood can solicit funds for abortion practices. In essence, the federal government is subsidizing the abortion practice - paying for all the organization's necessary services so that they can afford to abort babies, which is much less appealing or popular to potential donors. This is akin to asking the government to pay for your house note, property taxes and utilities, so that you can afford luxury furnishings and lavish amenities, and enjoy European vacations.

If Planned Parenthood can raise the funds for abortions, why can't they promote the more appealing cause of non-abortion family planning when generating revenues? Or better still, why can't they just separate the services into two different non-profit organizations? I believe we already know the answer to those questions.

In the Pence Amendment, the funding for Title X will not go away, but instead will free it up for clinics which prohibit abortion services. Would anyone complain that the necessary family practices for low income families are still being provided if they just so happen to not be provided by Planned Parenthood?

I applaud Congressman Pence for his efforts.

Students for Life of America caught this infamous late-term abortionist on tape during his speech at the National Education Association headquarters in DC:

Jill has more.

A 13 year old girl has accused a 19 year old man of raping her, and then providing her with a "morning after" pill the next day.

Should anyone be surprised? Many of those who criticized the FDA's over the counter scheme for Plan B warned about this possibility. In fact, I warned about this possibility in an August 2006 press release:

Over the counter access to emergency contraception will make minors more vulnerable to sexual abuse. Easy access to Plan B will allow sexual predators to cover up their crimes by making a simple trip to the pharmacy.

Why didn't the powers that be at the FDA consider this possibility? And if they did, why did they conclude that it was an acceptable risk?

I'll say it again: The decision by the FDA to make the morning after pill over the counter for those 18 and over was irresponsible. Not requiring a prescription for emergency contraception gave predators a tool to cover their tracks - and young girls are paying the price.

Abortion takes its toll through the death of an unborn child and an injured mother:

Women may be at risk of mental health breakdowns if they have abortions, a medical royal college has warned. The Royal College of Psychiatrists says women should not be allowed to have an abortion until they are counselled on the possible risk to their mental health.
Dr Peter Saunders of the Christian Medical Fellowship weighs in:
"How can a doctor now justify an abortion [on mental health grounds] if psychiatrists are questioning whether there is any clear evidence that continuing with the pregnancy leads to mental health problems."
Saunders is not asserting his point on the basis of one medical outcome but the large body of evidence indicating the consequences of abortion.

With the Republican nominee for president settled at this point in the primary season and either Democratic nominee being totally anti-life and pro-abortion to a degree not even seen in the 1992 election, pro-life advocates and people of common sense need to seriously consider the stakes of the 2008 Presidential Race as it applies to the unborn, the elderly, and the medically dependent and disabled.

Granted there are those who consider Senator John McCain's recent votes on the funding of embryonic stem cell research to be a serious problem and will demand that he reverse himself before they agree to support him for president. This issue has been a concern and I have discussed the subject personally with the Senator on more than one occasion. I have asked him to realize that these are unborn human beings, to examine the recent breakthroughs in the field and to understand the scientific and moral significance of these latest trends. While he has not come completely around, it is my hope that his staff has and will continue to provide him with the latest information so that he can fully appreciate our position. I suspect that as he and his team study the issue they will realize that the pro-life position is correct and will embrace that position fully. There has been some progress as seen in his statement on the campaign website. It recognizes the serious moral questions involved and the need to respect human life. The important news is that leaders in the pro-life community have an open door to discuss the subject and that the Senator knows we are about what is in the best interests of the nation and the nation's children.

We all know the Senator's pro-life voting record. Here are some highlights.

Are the post-Christian societies of England and Holland truly free and liberal if they are unwilling to to give asylum to a gay Iranian 19 year old who faces certain death if he returns to his country? Apparently they love the sin but not the sinner.

There was an interesting little story in the Washington Post Feb. 28, with this lead:
The Virginia Senate voted Wednesday to cut off state funding to Planned Parenthood of Virginia because it offers abortions....

These sorts of measures go through fits and starts in various states and often fizzle. This particular bill likely won't make it past Virginia's pro-abort governor, Timothy Kaine.

But what made this vote stand out was this key point, again quoting the Post:

The decision [was] a major setback for the Senate's new Democratic majority....

Democrats could not break one lone pro-life member, Charles Colgan, from voting with the Republican minority....

One pro-life Democrat made the difference.

When Democrats wrested control of both houses of Congress on the national level in 2006, the pro-life situation there looked dire.

It was anticipated Democrats would try to knock off all long-standing pro-life riders on appropriations bills and pass anti-life legislation to boot.

But none of that happened....

Here's the inside scoop on what's happening with Democrats on the national level, from well-placed pro-life spies....

The fact that NY Governor Elliot Spitzer may have bought sex from high priced prostitutes may help to explain why New York State ditched abstinence education programs last October - after all, prostitution and abstinence don't mix.

Instead of dropping abstinence education programs, maybe Governor Spitzer should have participated in one.

Gov. Spitzer's situation is representative of the crisis our culture has been experiencing for several decades - the separation of sex from procreation and marriage. Part of the problem is that people who practice this lifestyle do not want to change the culture, but instead, want to preserve the status quo.

What's different about Governor Spitzer's situation is that he is in a position to effect a cultural turnaround by encouraging abstinence - but because of his own sexual beliefs and practices, instead he only serves to strengthen the culture of death by dropping abstinence until marriage programs and by trying to enshrine abortion as the right above all rights in New York State.

In light of this problem, I'm not so surprised that Gov. Spitzer is such a hard hearted abortion supporter. After all, ripping babies apart is just the price to be paid for sex without responsibility or commitment.

Governor Spitzer is not the first or last public figure to be caught up in a sex scandal while protecting the abortion industry. He joins the Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison who recently resigned amid allegations that he had an affair, and who tried to use that affair to influence an investigation of late term abortionist George Tiller.

The sexual lifestyle of these two, as well as many others, depends on the availability of abortion, so it's no wonder they do everything in their power to protect the industry.

Governor Spitzer's situation calls for change - but not the false change espoused by presidential candidates, but a change in how we judge and elect these candidates.

Instead of asking candidates if they favor comprehensive sexuality education or abstinence until marriage programs, maybe we should be asking them if they support, via public policy and personal behavior, moving the culture towards one that discourages both promiscuity and abortion... Maybe then the public will see what kind of people are running for office, and what will they do once they get there..

According to the AP, a CDC study found that 1 in 4 teen girls, aged 14 to 19, has a sexually transmitted disease. The infection rate among those who have ever had sex was 40%.

African American teens had a higher incidence of infection - nearly half of them had at least one STD compared to 20% among whites and hispanics. This news isn't good - especially in light of the fact that black women accounted for 66% of HIV/AIDS diagnoses among women during 2005.

This is troubling news to say the least. Despite the widespread availability of condoms - which don't offer perfect protection against STDs to begin with - sexually transmitted diseases remain a serious problem.

As long as teens don't use condoms correctly and consistently, this problem is not going to significantly change any time soon. Additionally, condoms cannot offer high degrees of protection against STDs that are transmitted via skin to skin contact.

Some claim that comprehensive sexuality education programs will increase condom usage - but will such programs result in drastic changes? Probably not.

So what can be done to change the situation? Better diagnosis, quicker treatment to prevent further transmission, and abstinence counseling.

Abstinence counseling for the sexually active? Yes, sexually active teens are capable of stopping their sexual activity, but many need help to do so.

But there is more that can be done - our government, at all levels, along with public and private organizations can push for a long term cultural shift towards abstinence.

Our culture should promote abstinence until marriage, fidelity, and healthy sexuality. Unfortunately, cultural changes rarely happen overnight, so this change will take time, and there will be bumps along the way. But in the long run, such a shift will offer true long term reductions.

Some argue that abstinence isn't the answer to these problems, and that teens are going to have sex regardless of such a shift. While it's true that some teens will engage in sexual activity despite cultural pressure not to, the percentage that do will be significantly lower. Among this smaller group of sexually active teens, condom usage will still be inconsistent, and sexually transmitted diseases will still be common - but the problem will be on a much smaller scale.

Finally, as I have pointed out time and time again, STD clinics aren't full of teens who abstained from risky sexual activity...

We crossed paths near a Philadelphia writers' forum on Sunday.

My new acquaintance and I chatted about many things, among them our families. I mentioned the subject of much of my writing, abortion. One thing led to another and the young lady told me of her past abortion and surprised herself by bursting into tears.

So we continued to talk about what had been her secret.

Because this good-hearted woman trusted me with her fragility, I'll say nothing more of her sad and tragic abortion story.

Thanks to other courageous post-abortive women and research, I was able to offer insights into post-abortion problems so that the woman might determine if her abortion was causing her problems.

I also followed up our converstion with an email linking her to websites that might be helpful to anyone who might be struggling with post-abortion grief. Those sites included: Abortion Changes You (new and well worth a look), a 7:33 minute YouTube video of Dr. Alveda King's testimony outside of the U.S. Supreme Court Building at this year's March for Life, Silent No More Awareness, The Elliott Institute (AfterAbortion.org) and Rachel's Vineyard.

May this dear post-abortive woman find her way, I hope, I pray.

In 2004, a 15-year-old girl named Tamiia Russell died after an abortion at his hands, in 2007 he got caught on camera claiming doctors have a "license to lie" and now police have confiscated the contents of the dumpster outside of one of places Alberto Hodari performs abortions because of accusations of improperly discarded medical waste.

One of my former journalism teachers loved competitive sports, he said. For that reason, he was drawn to writing about politics with its thrills of winning and agonies of defeat.

With that in mind, I decided to check the scores -- NARAL Pro-Choice America's scores -- on our presidential hopefuls' voting records on issues of life like abortion. Since the three White House wannabes all served as U.S. senators, NARAL's Congressional Record on Choice seemed like a good place to look.

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., were tied in 2007. Each scored a 100 percent approval rating from NARAL for their abortion rights voting records.

No surprises there.

This year Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., merited a special page on NARAL's website because of his "solidly antichoice record."

There, NARAL informs readers that McCain's support of abortion rights in 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003 and 2002 was "0 percent." Not only that, "Because only one choice-related vote was taken in 2001 -- to confirm John Ashcroft as United States Attorney General -- no numerical score was given for the year. Sen. McCain voted anti-choice."

And the winner is....p1_mccain_all2.jpg

Friends of the unborn,

It's the first Friday of the month, & it's time to Call for Life!

Please encourage everyone you know to contact their representatives today through email or by phone. There is a Tell a Friend link on the MonthlyCallForLife website to make it easy for you.

Go to http://www.monthlycallforlife.com for everything you need to know, like who to call and what you might want to say.

Our representatives need to hear from us on a regular basis to remind them that Americans won't stand for the daily killing of over 3000 human beings in the womb.

As a member of Pro-Life Unity, our goal is to Abolish Abortion in '08. We don't believe that this is an unrealistic goal. People ask, "how are you going to abolish abortion in one year"? Our answer? It hasn't been 1 year, it has been 35 years, and 50 million Americans have been killed during that time.

It is time to end the government sanctioned killing of children in the womb!

The Monthly Call for Life website will be updated soon to reflect this goal, and we will help provide you with concrete steps you can follow to help make this happen.

Thank you all for what you do for the unborn. There are only a few of us active in the Pro-Life effort, and without us, the unborn would die in silence.

Call for Life today!

The National Day of Appreciation for Abortion Providers is just around the corner - March 10 - but it appears I'm the only one celebrating this year.

Not one national abortion website is showcasing this exciting holiday. Popularity may be dwindling because it is so difficult to show appreciation to abortionists. Heroin and child porn are two of those hard to find gifts.

Despite the abortion industry's diss, I will do my part to honor these special shop choppers with my 4th annual Abortionist of the Year award.

This year's gang is exceptional. I am reminded of the 1967 Academy Awards, when The Graduate, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?, Cool Hand Luke, Dr. Dolittle, In Cold Blood, In the Heat of the Night, Camelot and Bonnie & Clyde all competed for Oscars. How do you choose?

Of course, abortionists would pick In Cold Blood, but I digress. Here are the nominees, in alpha order to be fair...

The beauty of a "Choose Life" license plate lies in its beneficiaries.

All proceeds from these automobile accessories support women with unplanned pregnancies who choose adoption plans, rather than abortions, for their unborn babies.

So begins my Commentary "License Plates Put Money Where Motto Is," which was published this week in the March 2-8 edition of the National Catholic Register.

You will find the complete article here, if you would like to read it.

Although our laws would lead us to believe that we are an abortion free country, in fact for some time now eugenic abortion (abortion of disabled people) has been covertly ongoing. Recently bold admissions from one Senior Midwife, Breedagh Hughes, in particular have exposed the fact that health professionals have been targeting unborn children with a disability (this could be anything from a hair lip, yes a HAIR LIP) and illegally aborting them if their parents are agreeable.

The Department for Health in Northern Ireland has admitted that around 70 abortions each year are carried out in the North and most of these have been for foetal abnormality. These statistcs presumably include children from the South of Ireland who have been referred to Northern hospitals. According to Dr Lamki of the Royal Hospital, when he addressed the Oirachteas committee on abortion in 2000, some unborn children from the south are aborted in his hospital.

Recently Midwife Hughes told the Observer that the Department of Health statistics were far less that the real amount of babies being aborted here for foetal abnormality . She is proud to announce in the English press that in fact the number is much higher. She also spoke on BBC Radio 4 with Audrey Simpson of the fpa(NI), where she stated that midwives in the north are more or less routinely committing illegal abortions on the disabled unborn. She tried to garner sympathy for herself and others by stating that they may have to stop this practice due to fear of prosecution. It was noticable however that the Irish Press and media were quiet about this astonishing announcement, presumably because the law here is backed by public opinion and there would be a strong view that criminals of Hughes type should be stopped.

Radio 4 introduced the programme on line as follows:

"Midwives in Northern Ireland are threatening to stop carrying out abortions because guidelines make them liable to criminal prosecution. Jane is joined by Breedagh Hughes of the Royal College of Midwives in Northern Ireland, Audrey Simpson of the Family Planning Association, and Democratic Unionist MP Jeffrey Donaldson."

An Interview with the author of Walk Me to Midnight Walk Me to Midnight by Jane St. Clair is a new pro-life novel from Capstone Fiction. It is a chilling medical thriller guaranteed to keep you up reading all nightlong until you reach the horrifying conclusion. Available here and from Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Q. How did you come to write Walk Me to Midnight?

First, I was with my mother, sister and father during their long deaths by cancer. I was with them when they died. They were very vulnerable, but the hospice nurses knew what to do and how to help us. That's why I dedicated Walk Me to Midnight to hospice nurses.

Second, I was doing a lot of crime writing and became very interested in forensic science. I wrote two Law and Order television scripts and one CSI that placed high in national contests. I wanted to do a pro-life thriller.

Third, I believe that the assisted suicide movement is misdirected. I want to help the hospice movement.

Q.Do you think a terminally ill person should have the right to commit suicide?

Anyone can commit suicide at any time so getting assisted suicide laws passed is not about anyone's personal right to do anything. Committing suicide may be against the law, but after you're dead, you can't be prosecuted or punished.

People who want to commit suicide can do it themselves. The idea that they are so sick that they can't fire a gun or take some drugs is just untrue. Usually if you have a terminal illness, you know how long you left to live. You have ample time to commit suicide. If you are too sick to swallow, you don't have that long to live anyway.
Q. What about people who cannot move, like the late Christopher Reeve? How can someone like that commit suicide?

Assisted suicide laws are about the terminally ill. Often they are written in such a way that you need medical proof that you are actively dying.

Besides, people in wheelchairs are not terminally ill. If you start writing assisted-suicide laws for them, who's next? Old people? Developmentally disabled children? Depressed people who want to die? Again, such laws imply that these people are living lives that have no value and cost society too much to maintain.

There are wonderful organizations such as "Not Dead Yet" that are actively fighting the implications of assisted suicide laws.

Q.Are you against laws that legalize assisted suicide?
