A week before the National Right to Life Committee endorsed Fred Thompson, I blogged he had disqualified himself from my list of presidential primary picks following his Nov. 4 interview on "Meet the Press" with Tim Russert.During those moments, Thompson revealed he's in the same death camp as Rudy Giuliani, just with more exceptions.
Between that interview and one on Nov. 18 on "This Week" with George
Stephanopoulos, NRLC endorsed Thompson and clearly tried to tutor him.But it failed. Thompson unsuccessfully tried to pull one of three coffin nails he'd hammered two weeks prior, while he pounded another harder. I was left more curious than before about NRLC's decision.
Nail One....

My friend Jill misses it completely on this one. Thompson is not even remotely pro-abortion as Rudy Giuliani is...he's totally pro-life.
Thompson opposes virtually all abortions, wants Roe overturned, and wants states to make abortion illegal as they did before Roe. He opposes tax-payer funded abortions, supports every pro-life bill in Congress and had a 100% record on pro-life issues when he was in Congress.
And on Terri Schiavo, Thompson will sign a bill that would prohibit doctors from killing people like her by removing food and water. He's already said he backs Terri's family in what happened in her euthanasia death.
Thompson's problem is that he isn't very eloquent in stating his pro-life views, but I'll take actions over words any day.
Look at President Bush -- he characterized as not being able to put a coherent sentence together yet he's arguably been the most pro-life president since Roe.
Jill, PLEASE bash Giuliani and the pro-abortion Democrats, not our pro-life friends. Thompson isn't perfect, but he's clearly pro-life.
My friend Steve and I obviously disagree on Thompson. I know he voted our way in the Senate. Giuliani also said he supports the pba ban and parental notification.
But Thompson is a macro pro-choicer. He thinks the states should be free to choose.
As for Schiavo, Steve said, "Thompson will sign a bill that would prohibit doctors from killing people like her by removing food and water. He's already said he backs Terri's family in what happened in her euthanasia death."
Steve, Thompson absolutely said the opposite of the first part of your statement. I quoted him in my column, for heaven sakes. There can be no misinterpretation on this. He said he would let the states decide. He would not have signed Terri's Law as president. So what if he backed Terri's family? He still would have allowed the State of FL to kill her.
I'd like to see your source on your statement, please.
