A young friend, one of my 20-year-old daughter's dearest, had a baby boy yesterday. His name is Jack. Mother and baby were the subject of my April 26 post "Bittersweet Pregnancy Sweetened."
I visited the new mother, her mother, aunts and cousins and met precious little Jack in our local hospital's maternity ward today.
As I held this beautiful unplanned baby, I considered his good luck.
Jack is treasured by his college student mother and college student father and by their extended families. Many loving hands are prepared to help these unplanned parents manage their new roles.
If the contagious joy that Jack spread though a hospital room during my visit is any indication, this tiny surprise will be a source of much happiness for the fine people in his family.
Blessings often arrive unexpectedly.
