The National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund will hold its 14th annual Proudly Pro-Life Awards Dinner on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at 7:00pm at the Willard Inter-Continental Hotel in Washington, D.C. A pre-dinner reception will be held at 6:00pm.
The Proudly Pro-Life Award highlights the diversity of pro-life people and honors those with a long-standing commitment to courageously defend innocent human life. This year, National Right to Life will honor the family of Terri Schindler Schiavo: Robert and Mary Schindler, Bobby Schindler and Suzanne Schindler Vitadamo.
The Schindler family came to national and international prominence in their fight to save their daughter and sister, Terri Schindler Schiavo, from death by starvation and dehydration. Terri died on March 31, 2005, after fourteen days without nutrition and hydration. Since then, the Schindler family has created a foundation to help those, like Terri, who are medically dependent and disabled.
Syndicated talk-show host Mark Larson will serve as emcee. In addition, the evening will feature musical artist Kara Klein. Former U.S. House Majority Leader Hon. Tom DeLay will also deliver brief remarks.
Past honorees include actor, lawyer, and writer Ben Stein; actress Jennifer O'Neil; actress Margaret Colin; Dr. James Dobson, founder and president of Focus on the Family; the late Mother Teresa of Calcutta; and the late Robert Casey, former governor of Pennsylvania; among others. Last year, then-Congressman Henry J. Hyde (R-IL) was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Proceeds from this year's dinner will be used to help fund the National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund's continuing educational efforts to change hearts and minds and save lives.
