What if death certificates were required for all children killed in the womb? I agree with La Shawn Barber - it's a brilliant idea:
Legislation introduced in Tennessee would require death certificates for aborted fetuses, which likely would create public records identifying women who have abortions.Note that the writer of this AP article inserts the pro-abortion mantra upfront - the identity of the mother could be revealed. Wouldn't it be refreshing if the substance of the legislation was addressed prior to finding a way to torpedo it? Here's an alternate version that is concerned with the dignity of the unborn:
Legislation introduced in Tennessee would require death certificates for aborted babies, which would create a public records identifying the individuals whose lives have been ended through abortion.I like mine better. What do you think?

A ridiculous piece of legislation and a total waste of taxpayers' money, no matter which side of the abortion issue you are on.
The process by which death certificates are issued would need to be completely redefined. We'd have countless social security numbers being assigned to fetuses who would never use them, thus creating a hotbed for identity theft fraud in TN and increasing the operating costs of those branches of government which issue them.
The state would also have to issue birth certificates, since you can't issue a death certificate without one. What date of birth would fetuses be given who were never born? If we go with the popular "life begins at conception" then we'd have to change everyone's birth date to comply with the new standards.
Also, I see that some type of database has been recommended to track abortion statistics via these new death certificates - unfortunately this is a violation of HIPAA regulations. More taxpayer money down the drain to change that.
Instead of wasting time and money on ridiculous legislation that makes no sense and would be impossible to implement, let's focus time and energy on doing things to actually reduce the abortion rate.
