I thought this little blurb from the Kaiser Network was rather interesting (the full story also appear in Reuters). Both indicate that most women who received abortions in 2002 were using contraception at the time of conception. Interesting...I thought one of the biggest claims of the contraceptive movement is that birth control is necessary in order to reduce abortion rates. In these cases, however, it has actually led to abortion. Yet, family planning associations seem to believe that better contraceptive education for abortion clients will reduce contraceptive failure rates and also reduce abortions. You have to wonder, if most women who get abortions are contracepting at the time of conception, is contraception really reducing abortion rates? Or is contraception actually enabling abortion?
