Getting snippy over the male 'Pill' illustrates the fact that men often feel that the burden of contraception falls upon women.
'This Pill sounds way too scary,' says Matt, a 25-year-old entertainment executive. 'I can't imagine anyone I know taking it. I know I wouldn't.'
I'm sure people like Matt have no problem with women using oral contraceptives, despite the risk to their health (cancer, blood clots, depression, etc.)
The contraceptive mentality that has a grip on society has led to men placing the burden of casual sex onto women. Women bear the health risks of hormonal contraceptives, unplanned pregnancy, and abortion.
Many men do want to use women for sex, but they don't want to use anything which could harm their own health. For these men sex is about self satisfaction, and anything else is a secondary concern (if at all). This contraceptive mentality is degrading to women and cannot be the sign of a healthy society.
