Few parents expect or desire to raise a child with Down syndrome. Yet many who travel this path discover rich, unexpected rewards along the way. In this candid and poignant collection of personal stories, sixty-three mothers describe the gifts of respect, strength, delight, perspective, and love which their child with Down syndrome has brought into their lives.
In celebration of Gifts: How Children with Down Syndrome Have Enriched Our Lives, Rebecca Phong has created a beautiful online montage of pictures from the book. Grab a kleenex and click below:
Look for my kids at the end in the Siblings section: Maddy (our ninth and last birth child, now 13) with brothers Jonny (our eighth, now 14) and Jesse (11), Daniel (10) and Justin (6) - who were all adopted into our family as babies.
In addition to the pictures, the book has articles by parents, including one I wrote called "Entertaining Angels" about how having a child with Down syndrome changed my perspective on - well, just about everything :)
The group is already planning a Volume II, so if your life has been touched in some way by a person with Down sydrome, you may want to consider contributing. Check here for guidelines.

The photo montage brought tears to my eyes.
How could anybody look at those kids and be afraid?
I have a son with Down Syndrome and I saw a little of him in every child. Why? Their smiles. They light up every room. Thank you a 100Xs over for sharing this!
Thanks for posting about the book on this blog as well Barbara.
