WASHINGTON, D.C. - Last week, the ACLU filed an amicus brief in the federal lawsuit brought by David Parker a Lexington, Massachusetts father who was arrested after protesting pro-homosexual material distributed at his son's elementary school. Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins responded with the following statement:
"The ACLU's efforts to strip away parental rights and guarantee classroom access to homosexual activists will not go unanswered. The Massachusetts experiment with same-sex 'marriage' continues to threaten the religious liberties of ordinary Americans. This is why we will be hosting a nationwide simulcast in Boston this Sunday, October 15. The Parkers' lawsuit demonstrates that the threat to our freedoms is no longer theoretical but reality. It's absurd that parents must wage court battles simply for the right to be notified when their child may be exposed to pro-homosexual material."During this weekend's Liberty Sunday simulcast, David Parker will share his story of how his parental rights have been undermined because of the homosexual agenda. The nationwide simulcast will educate millions of Americans about what they can do when they face a gag order by government or school officials. We will also announce a special First Amendment Freedoms Watch Project as well as unveil a tool designed for people of faith concerned about the loss of their rights under the U.S. Constitution."
The simulcast is scheduled for Sunday, October 15, 2006 from 7 pm ET to 8:30 pm ET and will feature the following speakers:
- Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council
- Ann Romney, First Lady of Massachusetts
- Alan Chambers, President, Exodus International
- Dr. Ray Pendleton, Pastor, Tremont Temple Baptist Church
- Dr. Roberto Miranda, Pastor, Lion of Judah Congregation
