This new stem cell television commercial presents the ethical issues concerning human embryonic stem cell research in a very personal way.

Mary, a Muscular Dystrophy patient, tells in her own words that she wants to be cured, but not if it means destroying another human life, "After all, you and I began as tiny human embryos, too."

A true story about 13-year-old daughters' secret abortion. Parents have aright to know...

Stop secret abortions on minors.

Fr Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, talks about the 2006 elections.

From Fr. Frank Pavone:

The Polls are open! Although Election Day is not yet here, your state is making available the opportunity to vote early. This has revolutionized elections by allowing people to make sure their vote is counted. Even the most dedicated voter could be stuck in traffic, have to care for a sick child, get a flat tire, or have to work overtime. The 2000 and 2004 elections show just how much every vote matters, and early voting gives you the chance to make sure your voice is heard.

This is why we are asking that you encourage your friends, family, fellow parishioners, and any other likeminded people to cast their ballots early. With states being decided by hundreds of votes -- maybe less this time -- an election could be determined by a traffic jam. Procedures for early voting vary by state, but there are no instances in which it involves anything significantly more difficult than driving the polling site as the person would on Election Day. If the value of early voting remains unclear, think of it in these terms. If there is a close race, which many races this year are, and one candidate going into Election Day already has 25% of the votes for him cast while the other has only 10% of the votes for him cast, the first candidate has a significant advantage, as he has fewer voters that he still needs to turn out. In a race that will be decided by one or two percentage points, that's a tremendous advantage.

Mjf From Michael J. Fox's interview yesterday with George Stephanopoulos on ABC's This Week:

Stephanopoulos: In the ad now running in Missouri, Jim Caviezel speaks in Aramaic. It means, "You betray me with a kiss." And his position, his point, is that actually even though down in Missouri they say the initiative is against cloning, it's actually going to allow human cloning.

Fox: Well, I don't think that's true. You know, I campaigned for Claire McCaskill. And so I have to qualify it by saying I'm not qualified to speak on the page-to-page content of the initiative. Although, I am quite sure that I'll agree with it in spirit, I don't know, I— On full disclosure, I haven't read it and that's why I didn't put myself up for it distinctly.

Fox doesn't "think that's true," although he hasn't read the language of the amendment?  Fox was apparently on the t.v. show Spin City too long.  He's been spun.

And yes he has "put himself up for it distinctly." When he stated in his McCaskill ad, "Senator Talent even wanted to criminalize the science that gives us a chance for hope," he was speaking about Talent's opposition to human cloning, whether he understood what he was saying or not.

JjWith all these famous people entering into the embryonic stem cell debate, I thought it only fitting that Jesse Jackson insert himself into the melee. Here is a quote from an essay he wrote several years ago:

Anything growing is living. Therefore human life begins when the sperm and egg join and drop into the fallopian tube and the pulsation of life take place. From that point, life may be described differently (as an egg, embryo, fetus, baby, child, teenager, adult), but the essence is the same. The name has changed but the game remains the same.

November 7th is just around the corner, and your help is needed to ensure pro-life measures are passed in California, Oregon, and South Dakota. Your help is also needed to defeat the “wolf in sheep’s clothing” Amendment 2 in Missouri, which would actually protect human cloning.

Pro-life organizations are doing everything possible to help get out the vote, but with limited staff and resources their reach is limited. This is where you come in.

Your help is needed to reach the public about theses issues - more specifically, friends and family. This is a request to e-mail friends and family one of the messages below, especially those who aren’t fully on board with the pro-life message or are uninformed about these state initiatives and amendments.

In California, a young girl - even a 12 year old – can be taken by anyone – a school employee, a boyfriend, a sexual predator – to receive a secret taxpayer funded abortion, without a parent knowing and being able to protect her from further sexual exploitation. This is wrong.

Vote yes on Proposition 85.

Paul Harvey made up a word today, or if it wasn't him, I've never heard of it before.

PeopleUtion

He referred to it as people pollution and was talking about the Philippines. He discussed how the birth rate is out of control and the population of the country is astronomical. Of course he's probably trying to be cute & come up with another word for overpopulation.

On another front, why to liberals believe in survival of the fittest, evolution & all that? They've been laughing at us conservatives for being so stupid because we don't believe in their "theory", yet they aren't having enough children to sustain their own political existence. In another 30 years, the Democrat party will cease to exist. Ironic isn't it?

He who laughs last...

Well, as much as I'd like to finish that statement, I can't. I can't laugh at the millions of liberal babies who will be slaughtered. I can't laugh at the million + people who are killed in the womb by abortion every year. I can't laugh at the untold number of children who are used "legally" for embryonic stem cell research in America. The newest laws being discussed only concern themselves with government spending on embryonic stem cell research, not legality.

Are you happy being a part of this nation of murder and killing? Your tax dollars are spent on abortions and more. Are you happy with that?

If you aren't & want to do everything you can to end this horror, go to MonthlyCallForLife.com and join us in our monthly call to action. On the first Friday of every month we challenge our representatives to pass moral laws and to do everything they can to end abortion. Everything you need to know and do is on the site.

He is currently in South Dakota, helping the the good folks in that state end abortion. The issue is Referred Law 6, one which the voters will decide on November the 7th. This is the first time the abortion issue has come to a vote in the United States.

Michael J. Fox stated in his now infamous McKaskill for Missouri ad, "Senator Talent even wanted to criminalize the science that gives us a chance for hope."

Explain what that science is, Michael.

It's human cloning.

Why does the situation in Missouri make a difference? Do we really know what they are trying to do?

The pro-abortion people in Missouri are trying to create government funded research and laws to make it legal to kill human beings at the earliest stage of our development. On top of that, they are pushing through a cloning bill, pretending that it's not a cloning bill. They're even releasing ads saying that the bill is an anti-cloning bill.

outingwithdad.jpgThe British Courts appear to have decided that information or pictures of Charlotte Wyatt should no longer be available to the public. An order was put out on the 20th of October and Google's Blogger.com has deleted the website today. The blog's authors were sent the message:

Hello,

We'd like to inform you that we've received a court order regarding your blog charlottewyatt.blogspot.com. In accordance with the court order, we've been forced to remove your blog.

Thank you for your understanding.

One immediate question that comes to mind is why did the British court decide to supress informationrelated to Charlotte? Has the order also been placed upon her parents? What was being published that was harmful to the child and who is afraid of public accountability?

Apparently Charlotte's Blog was making too much of an impact to go unchecked. However, the censorship hasn't deterred the Save Charlotte Team. They've set-up a new site here.

Update from Sounding the Trumpet: Fortunately, most of the deleted website is still in the Google cache, including many of the pictures that were posted in recent days from Charlotte’s third birthday.

On October 1, 2006, Eric Dyke and Danyale Lloyd were injured in a motorcycle accident. The driver of the vehicle was blinded by the sun and pulled out in front of him. Eric is suffering from massive head trauma, punctures to the liver and kidney, bruised lungs, and numerous broken bones in his face. Other injuries include a broken arm, broken leg and many shattered bones. His mother lives in Ohio and his father lives in Iowa, and have both traveled a great distance to be with their son at this time.

Eric remains in critical condition and his father has published a blog to inform those concerned. Last Tuesday he wrote:

When he opens his eyes, and I look into them, I know that Eric is going to be OK. I can't give up on my son right now as it's only been 23 days and to me, every day is a gift from God and every little change is another hope and prayer answered. The doctors might not agree with the improvements I see but that's OK with me. I know that Eric is a fighter and I know that he has not given up yet. I will continue to fight for him. If and when the time comes to let him go, I will know it. This is not the time and he needs all his family and friends to believe in him and help him fight with a constant positive attitude and prayers. He needs to be surrounded by positive influence.
Please consider dropping the family a kind word of encouragement and bringing Eric before the Lord in prayer.

Here, from a "Vital Signs" radio program, is a 90-second answer to this very important question.

Gearing up for Election Day 2006, National Pro-life Radio.Net will debut as the nation’s first all pro-life radio network.

"NationalProLifeRadio.Net is the first ever 24/7 radio network devoted to the pro-life cause,” said Dr. Paul Schenck, who is CEO of the internet radio network and Executive Director of NPLAC on Capitol Hill. "You will hear from all the movers and shakers in the pro-life movement because NPLR.Net is the place where all the pro-life voices meet."

On the program roster is veteran pro-life attorney Stephen Peroutka, who is heard coast to coast as host of "Face the Truth", Fr. Frank Pavone, host of radio and television programs including "Life on the Line" and "Gospel of Life" and Dr. Alveda King, niece of the late MLK, Jr. Other program personalities include Mark Crutcher of Life Dynamics, Kimberly Zenarolla, Executive Vice President of National Pro- Life Action Center, Michael Peroutka of Institute on the Constitution and Rev. Rob Schenck of Faith and Action.

C.S. Lewis once said,

Hope means a continual looking forward to the eternal world. It does not mean that we are to leave the present world as it is. If you read history you will find that Christians who did most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next...It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this. Aim at Heaven and you will get earth 'thrown in'; aim at earth and you will get neither."
Over the last few generations, Christians have been duped into believing that they do not belong, nor should they engage in politics. However, there was a time when Christians were the managers of this country, ensuring its freedom by keeping its laws in accordance with God’s laws.

Jon Jay, president of the Continental Congress and later appointed Chief Justice of the New York Supreme Court stated, “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation, to select and prefer Christians for their rulers. Thee Americans are the first people whom Heaven has favored with an opportunity of deliberating upon and choosing the forms of government under which they should live.”

Sadly, this understanding of a Christian duty has been long lost. As a result, our laws are void of the natural law of God. At one time our county enforced the natural law that a man and a woman may not kill their offspring. Today, she may kill her offspring for any reason, as often as she chooses, and at any stage of development. We now live in a culture opposed to God.

In 1800, William Paterson, U.S. Supreme Court Justice affirmed: “When the righteous rule, the people rejoice, when the wicked rule, the people groan.” Proverbs 29:2.

Today, the wicked rule our country; however, this did not happen by accident.

New Jersey’s highest court today ruled that “there is no fundamental right to same-sex marriage” but gave the legislature six months to create a structure for same-sex couples to receive all the same benefits of marriage. In December, attorneys for the Alliance Defense Fund coordinated friend-of-the-court briefs and filed one on behalf of the Family Research Council, defending marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

“If marriage can mean anything, then marriage means nothing,” said ADF Senior Counsel Glen Lavy. “This is a wake-up call for people who believe that marriage doesn’t need constitutional protection. The court was right to conclude there is no fundamental right to same-sex ‘marriage,’ but to characterize marriage as just another option along with other ‘unions’ makes marriage meaningless. It’s critical that people vote for marriage amendments like those in Arizona, Virginia, and Wisconsin, which prevent a court from giving same-sex couples marriage in everything but name only.”

Alliance Defense Fund

No, it isn't necessarily called "marriage", it is simply a state mandated structure identical to marriage at its salient points. CWA comments,
In today’s 4-3 decision, the Garden State’s highest court went against two lower courts and the will of the people by siding with seven homosexual couples who were refused marriage licenses and alleged that this violated the New Jersey state constitution. By ruling in favor of these couples, the court ruled against preserving the most fundamental institution in our society: one-man, one-woman marriage.
It goes with out saying that the ruling is outrageous and another example of how fringe elements of society are able to use judicial tyrants to impose their will upon others.

U.S. Senator Brownback issues the following statement:

"The decision of the New Jersey Supreme Court only deepens the constitutional crisis with respect to the protection of traditional marriage, and warrants swift, decisive action by Congress in the form of passage of the Marriage Protection Amendment. Huge social changes should be decided by the people and their elected representatives and should not be forced by the courts.”

The following ad is planned to play tonight during the World Series, although there are last minute details still being worked out. It features Jim Caviezel of "The Passion of Christ;" Cardinals pitcher Jeff Suppan, Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner, and Patricia Heaton of "Everybody Loves Raymond."

And no, Caviezel is not saying, "This is Jesus Christ, and I approve this message," at the beginning, as is being nefariously blogged (although that's hilarious). According to the American Papist blog, Caviezel is speaking Aramaic: "L'bar nash b'nashak," which is "The son of man with a kiss." Continues American Papist:

He is quoting the Gospel of Luke (22:48) which reads:

[47] While he [Jesus] was still speaking, there came a crowd, and the man called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He drew near to Jesus to kiss him; [48] but Jesus said to him, "Judas, would you betray the Son of man with a kiss?"

By quoting this passage, Caviezal is making the point that just as Judas betrayed Jesus through a symbolic kiss of "friendship," the people of Missouri are being misled from the truth about amendment 2 by the false claim that amendment 2 will save lives (instead of actually harming innocent lives).

obama3.jpgHow liberal is Barack Obama? His wife used the ban on partial birth abortion (sucking the brains out of half-delivered babies) as a scare tactic and fundraising ploy:

Dear Friends:

We have all been concerned lately with the rise of conservatism in this country, especially as it relates to women. You’ve read the alarming news about the Justice Department’s request for hospitals to turn over the private medical records of dozens of patients. This cynical ploy is designed to intimidate a group of physicians and force them to drop their lawsuit seeking to have the so-called partial birth abortion ban ruled unconstitutional.

The fact remains, with no provision to protect the health of the mother, this ban on a legitimate medical procedure is clearly unconstitutional and must be overturned. Attorney General Ashcroft and president bush believe so zealously in their cause that the privacy rights of patients are under assault. They believe we have no federal right to privacy when it concerns our medical histories.

On March 16th, we have a chance to nominate a candidate who will be tireless in the fight to protect women. It isn’t simply about the right to choose, or privacy rights. It is about pay equity, about ending domestic violence, promoting health care around the world, and letting doctors decide treatment options, not federal judges.

It goes without saying that we must win back the U.S. Senate and hold our ground as a check against the right-wing executive branch. Illinois will be a key battleground and your vote is critical.

My husband has stood up for women time and again, and I am proud of his record. He understands that casting a vote on the floor of the Senate takes greater courage than issuing a position paper. Oftentimes, a well intentioned law is in fact a flawed law. That’s why it is critical we nominate someone who has faced these tough choices. That’s why nominating an experienced legislator is so important in this race. It takes courage to cast a vote.

Who among the Democrats running has a proven record? Who among the candidates running for the Senate in Illinois has stood up to the right wing politicians and voted against their agenda? Who can we count on to keep the Bush/Ashcroft team from appointing the Supreme Court Justice that will vote against Roe v. Wade?

Please join me in sending a message of unity and strength by attending the Women for Obama Luncheon on February 23rd at the Hyatt Regency. Lunch costs $150 and includes remarks from our friends the Reverend Willie Barrow and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. To reserve your seat please call the campaign office headquarters at 312-427-6400 or log on to the Obama for Illinois Website.

I urge you to stand with me and support my husband at this event. You know the stakes have never been higher and we can’t depend on untested amateurs and administrators in this fight. Barack is a fighter and he will be a champion we can be proud of.

Thanks you so much for all of your support.

"God gave his people lots of babies; soon their numbers alarmed their foes." ~ Psalm 105:24

The movers and shakers within the Democrat Party and mainstream media have conceded they can no longer muster majorities for their candidates based on party affiliation.

When did they concede? When they unveiled the Mark Foley scandal.

While the Foley October Surprise was partially intended to persuade moderates to vote Democrat, it was more intended to dissuade conservatives from voting at all. This was evidenced by the instantaneously spun news stories forecasting our suppressed vote....

For pro-lifers, it comes down to this difference between parties: Last month 93 percent of Senate Republicans voted pro-life (for the Child Custody Protection Act), and 87 percent of Democrats voted pro-abortion (against CCPA).

That's the real clear bottom line....

"Make the most of every opportunity," said Paul in Colossians. If Republicans lose the House or Senate majority in November, it won't be the end of the world.

But if so, it will likely be due to conservative apathy, as if liberals slipped Quaaludes into our drinks or siphoned gas from our cars - while we watched....

The State of Missouri has a ballot measure called "Amendment 2" that will create a constitutional right to conduct human cloning should it pass. Proponents of the measure have brought in Michael J. Fox to sell the initiative to Missourians. As expected, Fox’s appearance is meant to emotionally charge voters to vote in favor of this dangerous law.

As the ad above demonstrates, pro-lifers are responding, hoping the good people of Missouri will see through the emotive arguments of cloning proponents.

Jonah Goldberg has a great summary of the history of the Eugenics/Depopulation aspect of the Culture of Death in this recent piece that he wrote for NRO that Steve Ertelt posted at LifeNews:

As I write this, America’s population reportedly has passed the 300 million mark. The most remarkable aspect of this landmark event is how unremarkable it really is.

“If I had my way, I would build a lethal chamber as big as the Crystal Palace, with a military band playing softly, and a Cinematograph working brightly, and then I’d go out in back streets and main streets and bring them all in, all the sick ... the maimed; I would lead them gently, and they would smile me a weary thanks ...”

That was D. H. Lawrence daydreaming about population control. He was hardly alone. During the so-called Progressive Era, “enlightened” social planners were convinced that overpopulation was the gravest problem facing Western society. That’s why Lawrence gave “three cheers for the inventors of poison gas.”

Our friends at the Pro-Life Action League has issued the following press release:

Planned Parenthood Battles Scheidler over Contraception

CHICAGO, Oct. 23 — “I am not surprised that Planned Parenthood singled out the Pro-Life Action League in their so-called Strategy for Moving Forward,” said Joseph M. Scheidler, National Director of the Chicago-based activist group. “That shows they view us as a formidable opponent. I’m proud to be a thorn in Planned Parenthood’s side.”

In an October appeal, Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards made the Pro-Life Action League’s recent conference, “Contraception Is Not The Answer,” a call to arms for her supporters. She wrote:

The bad news is the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists will recommend that babies born alive before the gestational age of 22 weeks not be issued birth certificates, according to Britain's Sunday Times yesterday, since doing so "causes unnecessary suffering to mothers who wanted an abortion."

The good news is RCOG's recommendation may provoke calls to "drop the limit for social abortions from 24 to 22 weeks," said Dr Vincent Argent, medical director of the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, also according to the Times. In Britain, those are illegal.

fundraising success.jpgFundraising Success magazine has an intriguing photo on this month's cover of a pretty, exuberant woman smiling at the sun. She is NARAL's director of membership, Jennifer Donahue, with "pro-choice" tattooed or inked over the biceps muscle of her forearm. The cover photo's caption reads, "Fearless Fundraising."

I imagined the magazine's editorial board determining how to portray NARAL. I could not have come up with any better spin, comparable to Vogue's July photo of Planned Parenthood's Cecile Richards surrounded by babies.cecile.jpg

Unsurprisingly, only once in the 2,736 word accompanying article is the word "abortion" mentioned, and that was when reciting NARAL's mission statement.

An interesting point is NARAL's membership has increased from 70k in 2000 to 260k today, which is still only .086% of the population. Another interesting point is NARAL's portrayal of us as "opponents [with] deep pockets." Ha.

For those interested in fundraising, NARAL's techniques - integrated use of direct mail, email, and telemarketing to tiered groups of givers - are impressive. I receive their email updates, and they are also well-done.

Whatever your political persuasion, whatever your place on the political landscape, ask yourself what kind of politician supports a policy that allows for the wholesale killing of children?

Ask yourself, when the politician tells you he or she supports the “right to choose,” what does he or she mean by that?

Ask them to finish the sentence - choose to do what?

And if they tell you they do not know – then look at them and tell them that you are not stupid, that you know what their kind of “choice” means – choice means a dead baby and a wounded mother.

Then tell them that you will only vote for people who will protect life – all life – especially all innocent helpless unborn human life.

Then cast your vote for the children’s sake – vote for those who have no vote.

Be a voice for those who have no voice.

Tens of Thousands of Pro-life Students Lose Their Voices Tomorrow in the 3rd Annual Students' Day of Silent Solidarity
FREDERICKSBURG, Va., Oct. 23 /Christian Newswire/ -- Stand True Ministries hosts tomorrow’s 3rd annual Students' Day of Silent Solidarity. Students from over 1,300 campuses in the United States, Canada and several other countries will take a vow of silence to express their contempt for the murderous act of abortion that has claimed one-third of their generation and continues to take the lives of over 4,000 babies per day in the United States alone.

Many schools have ironically tried to silence the students before the Day of Silence even arrives. Thanks to the Alliance Defense Fund, the students’ rights have been restored and the schools have backed down.

(from Breast Cancer and Oral Contraception at www.NoRoomforContraception.com )

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, which is an annual campaign to build public awareness about the disease as well as to raise funds for research.

What does this educational campaign have to do with contraception? It has to do with the fact that many types of oral contraceptives contain estrogen, a synthetic steroid believed to have a role in the development of breast cancer.[1]

Over the past two decades, multiple analyses and studies have provided convincing evidence that using oral contraceptives increases the risk of breast cancer. The evidence keeps mounting -- separate studies published in the January 2006 edition of the New England Journal of Medicine, [2] the October 2006 edition of Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention,[3] and the October 2006 edition of Mayo Clinic Proceedings [4] confirm the increased risk.

The evidence puts contraception advocates in an awkward position of having to admit that the pill isn’t as safe as it presumed to be. Yet they cannot ignore the published evidence and maintain credibility, so they simply minimize the cancer risk by making it sound insignificant. Additionally, these advocates try to “balance” out the risk by emphasizing the fact that the pill can reduce the risk of developing endometrial and ovarian cancer.

Oral contraceptives not only pose a risk for breast cancer, but for liver and cervical cancer as well.[5] Considering the associated cancer risks, one has to wonder if it really is a good idea to "treat" the healthy state of fertility with know carcinogens.

October 19, 2006

The upcoming vote on Missouri's Amendment 2 is very important. What is Amendment 2? It is a proposed amendment to the Missouri state constitution that claims it bans human cloning. It would do no such thing. Amendment 2 actually creates a constitutional right to conduct somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) in humans. SCNT is the very same process that created Dolly the sheep, the first mammal cloned from an adult cell. If successful, SCNT in humans would create a cloned human embryo, and would be, without a doubt, human cloning.

So how do supporters of Amendment 2 get around this little factoid and say they are banning human cloning? Well, if you read the fine print, the amendment bans the implantation of a cloned human embryo, not the creation of a cloned human embryo. So, by voting for Amendment 2, Missouri voters may think they are banning human cloning, but they would instead be voting for a constitutional right to create cloned human embryos destined to be destroyed for research. A major slight of hand, I would say.

Why is Amendment 2 important for anyone living outside of Missouri? Because if this deceptive tactic works, it will be coming to a state near you.

So, if you live in Missouri, think carefully about your vote on Amendment 2. If you know someone who does, encourge them to visit this new website about the deception of Amendment 2. It is aptly called www.2tricky.org.

Hat tip: Wesley J. Smith

When Florida voters approved an amendment to their state constitution in 2004 requiring a minor girl to notify her parents prior to undergoing a surgical abortion, they probably didn't know that the fine print which included a “judicial bypass” would practically negate the very purpose of the law.

Indeed, since July of last year when the new law went into effect, 94% of those minors asking for a judge's permission to keep their parents out of the loop while they go ahead and destroy their preborn children (514 out of 548) have received the go ahead.

Can you remember the days when judges enforced the law instead of evading it. Can you recall those old-fashioned ideas that Americans cherished and fought for like the sanctity of life, the sanctity of the home and the democratic process? Lord, have mercy.

Here's the story from the St. Petersburg Times.

Thank God for Louisiana State University students with brains, common sense and guts.

The youth of today... there is hope for them, and perhaps for all of us because of them. Here is at least one young adult who speaks the truth, against all pressures to silence that truth. This is one of the calmest, most well-reasoned, most dead-on assessments of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger's "reality" and PPFA's misinformation campaigns as I have ever read. She is much more eloquent about Sanger and the current debasement of society than I ever have been or will be. I can never get my outrage out of my own way.

Will someone please write this wise young woman, Emily Byers, and give her a huge "Atta'girl!"

One of the things that Mark points out is that we are winning! To this date, about 2/3 of the abortion mills have been closed down.

And how about this?

"In San Francisco there are 49% more dogs than children, In Salt Lake City there are 19% more children than dogs."

From The Daily Mail:

A severely disabled child whose parents fought a long legal battle to ensure she was kept alive is to be placed in foster care because her parents have been judged unfit to look after her.

Brain-damaged Charlotte Wyatt has confounded the predictions of doctors who wanted permission to switch off her life support machine and will turn three on Saturday.

Her parents Darren, 34, and Debbie, 25, ran up a £500,000 legal bill for the taxpayer as they fought for two years in the courts to force the hospital looking after her to ensure she was resuscitated.

Eventually, the Wyatts argued, she could be looked after at home. Their successful legal battle was hailed as a moral triumph by those who believe cost should be no object in keeping a child alive even if they require a lifetime of intensive care.

But despite now being well enough to leave hospital, doctors say she cannot go home to her mother or father as there is no stable two-parent home for her to go to

Pro-life people and organizations should work together as much as possible. A good example of how we can do that is coming up on Novemember the 8th. Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, has applied for a permit to display a pre-born child in front of the Supreme Court during the time of the partial birth arguments.

Let's join him, not just in Washington D.C., but all across the country. On that day, call your representatives and let them know that they must end partial birth abortion and all abortions. Even if you are only against partial birth abortion, speak out and let them know. They need to hear from us. If you are in the Washington D.C. area on that day, come to the Supreme Court & join the vigil.

Go to MonthlyCallForLife.com for information on how to contact your representatives.

The New York Daily News has published a stunning view of the human body prior to birth through the lens of scientific photographer Lennart Nilsson. The article’s author, Julian Kesner, suggests

While such images won't quell the abortion debate anytime soon, their beauty alone deserves pause and admiration.
Certainly the Daily deserves a round of applause for reporting the hidden images of the unborn amid the onslaught of pro-abortion media bias that seeks to deny the humanity of society's smallest members.

Would you join me in thanking the News by writing to: Voice of the People, voicers@nydailynews.com?

Pro-Life Wisconsin Juneau Co. and area Knights of Columbus councils will welcome Joe Scheidler, National Director of Pro-Life Action League, this Saturday, October 14th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Mauston High School Theater, 800 Grayside Ave., Mauston, WI, for a free presentation to the public titled “An Evening with Joe Scheidler: Your Right to Free Speech.” Admission is free to the general public with free refreshments provided.

Joseph M. Scheidler is National Director of the Pro-Life Action League, a national pro-life educational and activist organization headquartered in Chicago . The League is dedicated to saving lives through activism and to bringing the abortion issue to the public via the media. Joe Scheidler has been credited with defining pro-life direct action, and has been dubbed by some “the father of pro-life activism.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Last week, the ACLU filed an amicus brief in the federal lawsuit brought by David Parker a Lexington, Massachusetts father who was arrested after protesting pro-homosexual material distributed at his son's elementary school. Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins responded with the following statement:

"The ACLU's efforts to strip away parental rights and guarantee classroom access to homosexual activists will not go unanswered. The Massachusetts experiment with same-sex 'marriage' continues to threaten the religious liberties of ordinary Americans. This is why we will be hosting a nationwide simulcast in Boston this Sunday, October 15. The Parkers' lawsuit demonstrates that the threat to our freedoms is no longer theoretical but reality. It's absurd that parents must wage court battles simply for the right to be notified when their child may be exposed to pro-homosexual material.

"During this weekend's Liberty Sunday simulcast, David Parker will share his story of how his parental rights have been undermined because of the homosexual agenda. The nationwide simulcast will educate millions of Americans about what they can do when they face a gag order by government or school officials. We will also announce a special First Amendment Freedoms Watch Project as well as unveil a tool designed for people of faith concerned about the loss of their rights under the U.S. Constitution."

Canadian disability activist Norman Kunc has created this tour de force. It's a terrific blues number with a message that hits home. And check out his website.

Thanks to John Ellenwood of NW Tucson Right to life for getting me this link to the Bishop’s booklet at Basilica Press.

This booklet is must reading for anyone looking to understand the role of the person in the modern world. And while it is titled “Catholics in the Public Square.” it actually applies to all persons. As John Ellenwood noted, “It is a refreshingly clear moral document.”

This is an important booklet for our brother Knights to read. Every Knight to get a copy of this booklet and pray before and after reading it. Then ask God what is His will regarding our obligation to vote.

The Sacred Scriptures tell us to “CHOOSE LIFE.”

Choose life so that we and our descendents will live.

Vote pro-life vote por la vida.

Do not be afraid to spread the message.

Last night, I switched back and forth between Michigan's second gubernatorial debate and the Detroit Tigers' win (yeah!) over the Oakland Athletics. You can listen and/or watch the debate at WOOD TV's website.

Towards the end of the debate, Granholm laid down a major league whopper regarding her position on human cloning. After discussing her position on embryonic stem cell research, Granholm said something like, "I think it is important if you don't clone embryos for the purpose of doing the research but it's limited to those embryos that would be discarded. That's important to allow that life-sustaining, prolife research to go on."

I was completely surprised by that statement because as readers of my blog know, Governor Granholm has been a huge supporter of H.B. 4900. H.B. 4900 would legalize human cloning in Michigan. Granholm's been using the state of Michigan web site to push this legislation for months. She spoke approvingly about this legislation in her State of the State address and even promoted it on a weekly radio address just last week.

Few parents expect or desire to raise a child with Down syndrome. Yet many who travel this path discover rich, unexpected rewards along the way. In this candid and poignant collection of personal stories, sixty-three mothers describe the gifts of respect, strength, delight, perspective, and love which their child with Down syndrome has brought into their lives.

In celebration of Gifts: How Children with Down Syndrome Have Enriched Our Lives, Rebecca Phong has created a beautiful online montage of pictures from the book. Grab a kleenex and click below:

[At MommyLife yesterday, I asked the young mothers who read my blog if they had changed their minds about abortion since becoming mothers. Go here for the full article and their comments. Excerpts below]

No, that's not an oxymoron. Although pro-life Democrat politicians are few and far between, there are liberal thinkers out there who from the beginning have been anti-abortion.

You can find their voices at Abortion and the American Left. . . .

I know my readers run the gamut politically, but I want to take this opportunity to ask those of you who consider yourself pro-choice if you've revisited the issue since becoming older, wiser and more experienced vis a vis motherhood. When people get locked into a position and begin to define themselves, they often stop thinking. . . .

To have a truly open mind means that you're always willing to consider new information or new ways of understanding. As one of the founding mothers of the Second Wave of feminism, I know that when we originally set out to secure abortion rights none of us could have imagined that we would end up killing a million and a half babies a year.

What boggles my mind is that feminists have not responded to this terrible situation in any way other than defending their position. Since 1973 when abortion was legalized, we have killed over one quarter of all babies conceived in the United States. One day my son came home from high school and said he'd all of a sudden been struck by the realization that one fourth of his class was not there.

When you think about it, the situation is really terrible: the selfish Baby Boomers - who were already a demographic bulge - demanded the right to abort when pregnancy was not convenient for them. Now they are living longer than previous generations and demanding more medical services - can anyone say Viagra? - and programs which will be paid for by guess who? The generation of whom they killed one quarter. . . .

Consider the iceberg: Only the tip is visible.

Such is the short Missouri Stem Cell Research and Cures Initiative to be voted on next month. Beneath it looms a titanic constitutional amendment.

Amendment Two, as it is called, is a proportional Titanic. At five pages and 2,000 words, it is half the length of the entire United States Constitution. Its opening paragraph - conveniently omitted from promoter Missouri Coalition for Lifesaving Cures' website - lists 45 sections of the Constitution of Missouri it would incredibly delete or change.

Amendment Two is also a linguistic Titanic. Crafted by researchers and groups with financial stakes in its passage, it is packed with convoluted legal and scientific jargon chopped up and buried in various places so it really says the opposite of what they say it says.

Amendment Two's biggest lie: "No person may clone or attempt to clone a human being."

To say that, crafters simply changed the definition of cloning to say a clone isn't a clone unless implanted in a mother's uterus.

This is like saying you are not you unless you are in your house. If you leave your house, you are no longer you. You are a thing. And if you are caught outside your house, you can be dissected and sold for parts.

Crafters said while they banned cloning, they endorsed "somatic cell nuclear transfer." This is like banning the killing of humans but endorsing the killing of Homo sapiens....

Some other whoppers in Amendment Two....

Peter (ProLifeNews.tv) links to the story of an 11-year-old boy who woke from what doctors suggested was a hopeless condition. On Oct. 7, 2004, Devon Rivers became sickened with a mysterious illness that left in a coma:

Eventually, he was moved to a pediatric nursing care center, where he received daily physical therapy that kept his muscles from atrophying and his joints from locking up.

Yet every time doctors checked on him, they had the same prognosis: Devon was in a persistent vegetative state, and it was doubtful that he would ever recover.

His family continued to care for him and after two years Devon began breathing on his own and has "awakened" from a PVS state.

Believe it or not, some bioethicists, including the euthanasia fanatics who sponsored Terri Schiavo's death via dehydration, believe that those in a PVS state are dead and want to experiment on them.

After nearly two years of lying in a coma a 9 year old Yamhill, Oregon boy woke up from a coma. Doctors described Devon Rivers as being in a PSV (persistive vegetative state) with no hope for recovery.

His mother said "He was dying before our eyes. He literally could no longer breathe."

Doctors could not figure out what happened to the boy or why he was in the coma. The father said "We were told that there would be no hope, that he would not get any better than he was".

Two great guest posts at Steve Ertelt's LifeNews illustrate the schizophrenic thinking of our world system.

Wesley Smith reports on how the bioethical ground is already being prepared for reproductive cloning, while on another front, despite evidence that birthrates are in free fall, our elected officials have insisted on spending more and more on international depopulation programs.

So if we already have too many people, why do we need to clone more?

Women associated with the Silent No More Awareness Campaign are disappointed by Ms. Magazine’s latest attempt to protect abortion rights instead of women’s health. In an effort to address dwindling support for abortion, the magazine revived an old strategy to return the focus of abortion to the women who have them.

Unfortunately, Ms. Magazine was only prepared to represent some women. According to Georgette Forney, co-founder of Silent No More, a campaign to raise awareness about the after affects of abortion, “Many of us who are silent no more wrote to the Editor of Ms. Magazine when we heard about their petition back in August. We asked them to represent all of our voices but they didn’t even acknowledge our letters.” Mrs. Forney feels it’s clear that Ms. Magazine isn’t seeking to represent women but an ideology that is out of touch with women in mainstream America.

According to a poll commissioned by the Center for the Advancement of Women in 2003, they found keeping abortion legal was the next to last most important priority for women.

Janet Morana, co-founder of Silent No More noted, “The magazine’s effort to respond to our “I Regret My Abortion” statement isn’t accurately countered with “I Don’t Regret My Abortion” claims. The counter argument would be “I Regret Giving Birth.” Comparing those who abort unexpected pregnancies versus those who give birth to unplanned children is the more valid comparison. Show me a list of names willing to sign a petition with that statement.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — "It is beyond tragic that Ms. Magazine is encouraging women to celebrate an act of violence that has proven traumatic for millions of mothers and deadly for their innocent preborn children," said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. "Abortion does nothing positive for women. Each abortion kills a living, human being. It is disgusting that these abortion proponents are using the deaths of children in an attempt to make a statement."

A Press Release from Operation Rescue:

An Operation Rescue Truth Truck was impounded Saturday evening in an exclusive gated community in Oklahoma City, and two men were placed under citizen’s arrest and jailed after a group of Christians prayed outside the home of abortionist Nareshkumar Patel.

Held in jail overnight were Randy Blaise and Ric Dugan of Wichita, Kansas. One of Patel’s neighbors, a member of Oklahoma City’s influential Gaylord family, placed the men under citizen’s arrest for trespassing. The men were taken into custody by the Oklahoma City police and released from jail the following day.

FatherZakarya_MD.jpgIslamists are always telling us about the growth of Islam, and how more and more people are becoming Muslim, but they avoid talking about the flip side, which is growing at possibly a more rapid rate. We can understand why Islamists don't want to recognize Muslim to Christian conversions, after all, the converts themselves have a huge problem with it. When converts make their conversion known publicly, they are subjected to threats and discrimination. Sometimes, it is even their friends and family who shun them. “In Muslim countries,” they lose their civil rights and face the danger of the death penalty.

To say that these measures tend to "dampen discussion" on the matter, is quite the understatement, yet many Muslim to Christianity conversions do occur. Although personally, I'm not a huge fan of proselytizing (I subscribe more to the Mother Theresa approach: "There is only one God and He is God to all; therefore it is important that everyone is seen as equal before God. I've always said we should help a Hindu become a better Hindu, a Muslim become a better Muslim, a Catholic become a better Catholic"), given the degree and frequency with which so many Muslims are becoming more radicalized, I'd be hard-pressed to have a problem with giving them a helping hand in understanding the peace and love of their fellow man that lies at the basis of Christianity.

And when it comes to giving Muslims a helping hand ( or words) in understanding the peace and love of their fellow man that lies at the basis of Christianity, Father Zakaria Boutros, who looks like a mild-mannered, unassuming priest, is delivering a message that is rocking much of the Muslim world. As you might expect, Father Boutros's broadcasts have generated intense anger in the Muslim world, and there's a $60 million bounty on his head (interestingly, as with the Pope's comments that there is much violence in Islam, Islamists respond with violence to recount it - go figure!):

:

His television program called 'Truth Talk' is broadcast daily into the Middle East over the Al-Hiyat satellite channel. On it, he challenges Muslims to examine what he says are inconsistencies in Islamic doctrine – inconsistencies that he says Muslim leaders don't want exposed and ordinary Muslims are told never to question.

“Islam cannot stand in front of intellectual questions and no one can understand because of contradictions in Koran, contradictions in Hadith, contradictions and false doctrines. So they don't want anybody to ask and to learn. 'This is Islam, you have to accept it as it is' lest you should be killed,” Boutros said.

Boutros doesn't stop at challenging the teachings of Islam. He also questions the Prophet Mohammed himself, who Boutros says had his mind set on wordly pursuits.

To celebrate the role of grandmothers in reproductive choice, Ms. magazine is running a cover story next week titled "We Helped Our Granddaughters Abort" -- accompanied by the names of thousands of senior citizens nationwide who signed a petition declaring their pride in having secretly transported their teenaged descendents to out-of-state abortion clinics.

We've been covering Ms. Magazine's "We Had Abortions" campaign of misinformation. Mary from Freedom Eden writes:

I have an idea.

These women who are so proud to have aborted their babies and are willing to have their names publicized should be asked to submit another name.

In addition to signing the petition, they should supply the names that they would have given their children if they had allowed them to be born.

They should include the ages of the children they aborted.

How old would they be today?

I wonder what they would be doing. How would they have enriched our world? Whose lives would they have touched?

Hello friends of the unborn, it's time to Call For Life!

Go to MonthlyCallForLife.com for everything you need, like who to contact and what you might want to say.

I'm sorry I posted this so late in the day. If you can't contact your representatives today, please do so on Tuesday.

Call For Life Next FridayGo to Monthlycallforlife.com where you will find everything you need to know to speak for the unborn today. This Call for Life only comes once a month, so don't miss your opportunity. Also, be sure to click the Tell A Friend link.

Why is this going to make a difference anyway?

Well, well, first of all, doing nothing gets us nothing. Second, all of us pro-life people can take a few minutes out of our day once a month on the first Friday to let our representatives know that they should do everything they can to stop abortion.

There are millions of us pieces of the pro-life puzzle working in our individual efforts around the country. Coming together and speaking as one on a regular basis unites and amplifies our message.

Our representatives need to hear from us frequently, otherwise they will start to think that they can get away with murder, like the embryonic stem cell research bill which was passed by the House and Senate, & was almost made into law in July, 2006. Thanks to President Bush, that was stopped by his first veto.

Call For Life Today!

Remember, the unborn only have us, and if we don't show up for them, they will die alone

Monthlycallforlife.com - The only nationwide monthly pro-life action call to action

CBS News Allows Conservative Point of View and All Hell Breaks Loose

Friday , October 06, 2006

By Bill O'Reilly

CBS News allows a conservative point of view and all hell breaks loose. That's the subject of this evening's "Talking Points Memo".

As part of its new evening news format with Katie Couric, CBS now has a "free speech" segment where folks deliver commentary. But when the comments come from the right, the reaction's fascinating.

Brian Rohrbough's 15-year-old son Daniel was killed in the Columbine massacre. Ever since, Mr. Rohrbough has been thinking about just why his son and 11 other children were murdered without reason. After seeing the same thing happened at the Amish school a few days ago, Brian Rohrbough said this on CBS News:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BRIAN ROHRBOUGH, FATHER: I am saddened and shaken by the shooting at an Amish school today and last week's school murders. When my son Dan was murdered on the sidewalk at Columbine High School on April 20th, 1999, I hoped that would be the last school shooting.

Since that day, I tried to answer the question why did this happen? This country is in a moral free fall. For over two generations, the public school system has taught in a moral vacuum, expelling God from the school and from the government, replacing Him with evolution, where the strong kill the weak without moral consequences. And life has no inherent value.

We teach there are no absolutes, no right or wrong. And I assure you, the murder of innocent children is always wrong, including by abortion.

Abortion has diminished the value of children. Suicide has become an acceptable action and has further emboldened these criminals. And we are seeing an epidemic increase in murder/suicide attacks on our children.

Sadly, our schools are not safe. In fact, we now witness that within our schools, our children have become a target of terrorists from within the United States.

UK scientists have applied for approval to clone using rabbit eggs. FRCBlog explains that these folks will use the basic cloning process called "somatic cell nuclear transfer." But instead of transferring the nucleus of a human somatic (body) cell into women's eggs, they'll transfer into rabbit eggs. The resulting embryos will be predominately human in genetic makeup, but with rabbit DNA from the outer shell of the egg.

Pamela F. Hennessy writes for the North Country Gazette:

The October 2006 issue of the Journal of Medical Ethics (JME) features an opinion piece penned by Dr. Heather Draper of the Centre for Biomedical Ethics titled "Research and patients in a permanent vegetative state".

In it, Draper concludes that experiments involving the transplantation of certain animal organs to humans should include trials on patients who have been diagnosed in a permanent or persistent vegetative state (PVS).

Oppose forced abortion in China and guess what happens?

Human Rights in China (HRIC) has learned that Yuan Weijing, the wife of blind activist Chen Guangcheng, was stopped and detained by police in Linyi City, Shandong Province, on October 3 where she and her daughter were in transit on the way to her parents’ home for the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Sources in China told HRIC that Yuan Weijing left her house at 7am on October 3 with her one-year-old daughter. Shortly after leaving her home, Yuan was followed by five or six individuals. At approximately 9am, they arrived in Linyi City and planned to transfer to another bus to get to Linshu, but they were stopped by the police. Among the group of police were two deputy Party secretaries from Shuanghou Township, Yinan County named Zhang Jian and Yu Mingjiang. After stopping Yuan Weijing’s bus, they announced “[you are] summoned according to Article 91 of the Criminal Procedural Law,” and then forced her into the police car. Yuan Weijing had previously been summoned for interrogation on July 10 and July 20 this year.

From LifeNews:

The nation's largest teacher's group is attacking abstinence education programs in a new report it co-sponsored. The attack is designed to persuade Congressional lawmakers to cut funding for abstinence education, which studies have shown is achieving its intended results in reducing sex and teen pregnancies. The National Education Association (NEA) and the anti-abstinence group SIECUS co-sponsored the new report, its fourth annual one attacking abstinence programs.

The report reviews abstinence education curriculum and claims it is "riddled with messages of fear and shame, gender stereotypes, and medical misinformation that put young people at risk."

AOL posted a poll question yesterday that looks like it is still live. Ms. Magazine is linking to it today, urging its people to vote. Why shouldn't we?

The question is, "What do you think of Ms. magazine's listing of women who had abortions?" At the moment, 158,637 have voted, and 48% think it's a bad idea, 28% think it's a good idea, and 24% have mixed feelings.

Salon reports Ms. Magazine cried foul to AOL yesterday about the original poll wording, which was, "What do you think of Ms. magazine's naming of women who had abortions?" The pro-abortion side claims this is why they're losing on the poll. With them, words hold the ultimate power in the debate, not concepts.

The fact is, no matter how they try, the abortion lobby cannot make Americans like abortion. This is evidenced by apparent public disgust at attempts to invoke abortion pride.

Adult stem cells have reportedly been used to treat autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, and scleroderma. According to the Journal of Rheumatology:

During the past 10 yrs, over 700 patients suffering from severe autoimmune disease (AD) have received an autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplant as treatment of their disorder with durable remission being obtained in around one-third.
Life Ethics explains:
The stem cells taken from the bone marrow of the patients are encouraged to multiply outside the body and then they are transfused back into the patient (the procedure looks just like a blood transfusion) after chemotherapy or radiation to kill the patient's remaining bone marrow and immune system, including the cells in the lymph nodes. The cells that are put back in are the patient's own and are not rejected, but they are able to "reset" the immune system so that it does not attack the nerves, muscles, joints and organs any more. There is real hope that the patients are cured, rather than enjoying a limited remission.

Only five months old (from conception), Victoria Robinson's child was killed. Her boyfriend was arrested after the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office ruled the death a homicide. Yes, the murder of the unborn is homicide.

A recent article appearing in the Journal of Medical Ethics addresses the suggestion that medical experiments should be conducted on those who are considered in a permanent vegetative state. A chilling, if not frightening, account is reported by BioEdge:

What should be done with patients deemed to be in a "permanent vegetative state"? A discussion in the current Journal of Medical Ethics shows that there is a growing interest in using their bodies for medical experiments. They would be especially useful in studying the long-term effects of transplanting animal organs. The patients often survive for years, and if a virus affected their brains or other vital organs, very little harm would be done.

Some bioethicists have even contended that PVS patients are actually dead and can be treated as cadavers. But Dr Steven Curry, of the University of Melbourne, disagrees, partly because they aren't dead and partly because it would be too difficult to persuade the public that they are.

PVS patients are alive, he contends, but they have nothing to lose and they can contribute to the common good:

"Those who are in a PVS will not ever wake up, they feel no pain or discomfort and have no continuing interest in their own survival... these patients must also have a right to risk that life for the common good... The patients will not be able to have children and have no capacity for movement, so that their possible confinement does not violate the interest that underpins the right to free movement... Also, no risk of withdrawal of consent exists."
Ideally, of course, people should agree in advance to such experiments by enrolling in a register. But it is unlikely that many people will, as few people anticipate living in a comatose state for several years. Hence, says Dr Curry, it ought to be possible to get others to consent on their behalf "with reference to the person's values and stated preferences". ~ Journal of Medical Ethics, Oct
The utilitarian view of human dignity is apparent in the article and I see an implied proposition suggesting that the value of those who are considered PVS is linked to their contribution to the common good, which is enhanced by their use in experimentation. This seems consistent with the grisly reality of denying the intrinsic worth of humans. I wonder what would stop the same ethicists from asserting the legitimacy of organ harvesting from those who are PVS? For that matter, what about using those who, because of physical condition, can not longer contribute to society in what is considered a meaningful way? There is very little which cannot be justified when the standard for human dignity and value is linked to the perceptions of society.

Ms Magazine recenlty announced its "We Had Abortions" program to counter the South Dakota law which bans child killing.

Updates:

La Shawn Barber's Corner: In a most vacuous display of “liberation,” a gaggle of women who had their unborn babies vacuumed from their bodies (graphic images alert!) and washed down a sink will celebrate the occasion by signing a Ms. Magazine “We Had Abortions” petition. - read the rest

AndRightlySo: American women have had 47 million abortions since 1973. 47 MILLION. That is more death than all the wars combined.

WriteWingBlog: Abortion can and does create tremendous psychological problems in a lot of women, and women deserve to know about this aspect.

ThreshingGrain: Why not make the killing of an innocent child sound like a routine procedure---i.e. teeth cleaning. That way its much easier to justify your actions-MURDER!

CWA is appalled:

Concerned Women for America (CWA) today expressed its dismay and disgust at the October 10th Ms. Magazine cover story, “We Had Abortions.” The magazine will publish a petition signed by over a thousand women who reveal that they have had abortions. The editors of the magazine say that even more names will appear on their Web site. The petition with all the names will be sent to legislative bodies across the nation as well as to the White House.

The action comes as pro-abortion activists face impending state legislation that would ban abortions in several states and the prospect that federal laws would be rescinded by the U.S. Supreme Court, especially if a fifth conservative judge were appointed in the future to join Roberts, Alito, Scalia, and Thomas on the bench.

Many of Ms. Magazine’s feminist readers are ardent supporters of Planned Parenthood, the organization originally founded by eugenicist Margaret Sanger. Planned Parenthood is greatly threatened by these potential policy changes that would limit abortion on demand, since one of its major sources of income is providing abortions.

Here's an excellent, very helpful audio-visual from the Family Research Council. We will have a pro-life president for only 15 more months.

This is how we must think. The 2008 presidential election could result in a Clinton II or like-minded pro-abort in the White House. It is critical that we treat the next 15 months as critical.

Conjectured is at least one and maybe two Supreme Court justices will retire during these 15 months. Both are pro-abortion.

The Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade in 1973 by a vote of 7-2. If the Supremes were deciding it today, they would vote 5-4 in favor.

We are so close to finally setting the stage to overturn Roe v. Wade.

But the stage stands no chance of being set during the 15-month window if Democrats overtake the Senate....

Pro-lifers planning to punish the Republican Party and Republican pro-life candidates next month for being less than perfect are behaving just like Democrats who advocate a cut-and-run strategy in Iraq....

The Republican Party is our ally. Its leaders and politicians may be imperfect allies, but human history has only ever known one perfect ally (and people still complain about Him).... Meanwhile, the Democrat Party is our sworn enemy.... Here is a recent crystal clear example....

For the 2006 election, we must keep our eyes on Roe v. Wade. Its demise is real if we vote to ensure pro-life justices are appointed to the Supreme Court....

Brian Rohrbough on CBS News with Katie Couric - Free Speech segment. May this humble truth rock our nation to repentance!

I'm saddened and shaken by the shooting at an Amish school today, and last week’s school murders.

When my son Dan was murdered on the sidewalk at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999, I hoped that would be the last school shooting. Since that day, I’ve tried to answer the question, "Why did this happen?"

This country is in a moral free-fall. For over two generations, the public school system has taught in a moral vacuum, expelling God from the school and from the government, replacing him with evolution, where the strong kill the weak, without moral consequences and life has no inherent value.

We teach there are no absolutes, no right or wrong. And I assure you the murder of innocent children is always wrong, including by abortion. Abortion has diminished the value of children.

Suicide has become an acceptable action and has further emboldened these criminals. And we are seeing an epidemic increase in murder-suicide attacks on our children.

Sadly, our schools are not safe. In fact, we now witness that within our schools. Our children have become a target of terrorists from within the United States.

LifeNews' Steve Ertelt suggests:

The Senate's failure to approve an abortion bill that would have provided support for parental notification and consent laws across the country points to the need for pro-life advocates to get involved in key election battles that are happening in virtually every state.

The Intellectual Conservative provides a detailed report of incumbent Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano's stunning history of vetoing pro-life legislation.

During her four years in office, Napolitano has vetoed various pro-life bills approved by the Legislature, including informed consent, notarized parental consent, rights of conscience, informed consent for human ova donors, and a prohibition of cities including abortion coverage in employee health-insurance plans. She vetoed a bill that would have required mothers seeking an abortion in the 20th week of pregnancy or later to be informed of medications to alleviate pain to the infants being aborted. She vetoed a prohibition of selling human ova for cloning. In 2006 Napolitano killed six pro-life bills, according to the Arizona Catholic Conference.

That's the bad news. The good news is that Arizona voters have an opportunity to elect a pro-life Reagan conservative: Len Munsil.

Sometimes adults make simple things quite complicated and obfuscate moral issues that are black and white to a child. RedState's MrsNachos describes a decision with her son:

Me: "SON, what would think if someone tried to hurt a baby in a mommy's body?"

SON: "They should be in trouble. Maybe get a spanking or go into time out."

ShowLetter.jpgUp to a million Christians in approximately 900 locations worldwide took part in the various Life Chains on 1October, International Life Chain Sunday. About 100 Christians in Cape Town formed a Life Chain to proclaim the Sanctity of Life. The Life Chain in Cape Town took place in Buitengracht Street (near the entrance to the Water Front).

The Life Chain is an international prayer vigil and peaceful placard protest against the abortion holocaust.

Over 600 000 babies have been legally killed through abortion in South Africa, since 1 February 1997.

The Life Chains recognise the abortion holocaust as the one of the greatest recurring crimes being committed in the world today. "Abortion is worse than apartheid," says National Co-ordinator of the Christian Action Network, Taryn Hodgson. “Abortion takes away the most basic right of the most innocent people – the Right to Life of pre-born babies. It is discrimination based on age. It is an urgent priority for the Church to expose, oppose, and end this war against children made in the image of God.”

It's interesting that the abortion industry has stopped trying to logically defend partial birth abortion. While dismissing Judeo-Christian values and traditions against aboriton as intrusive, it finds itself forced to stand solely on its own values and traditions to defend pba. From the Washington Post, October 1:

In a brief on behalf of several doctors challenging the ban, the Center for Reproductive Rights told the [Supreme] court that it owes Congress no deference on issues of medical practice, and that the administration's suggestion that Stenberg may be overruled "demonstrates an inadequate regard for the societal values held safe by the principles of stare decisis [past decisions, i.e., tradition]."

It is tenuous for the abortion industry to rest on these arguments alone. Sound law stands over time because it is based on logic borne of moral values. It proves itself healthy for society. Unsound law cannot stand over time because it is based on illogic borne of immoral values. It proves itself unhealthy for society. Dred Scott, voting rights for blacks and women, and segregation laws come quickly to mind. Does the abortion industry really want to stand on its 30-year share of American history to demonstrate the validity of its values and traditions?

A commonsense bill to require notification of one parent before a minor obtains an out-of-state secret abortion died Friday, September 29. U.S. Senate Democrats, including Michigan's Sen. Debbie Stabenow and Sen. Carl Levin, voted overwhelmingly to block it.

The bill, S. 403, the Child Custody Protection Act, would have prohibited transporting a minor across state lines to obtain a secret abortion if this abridged the parents' right to be notified under the home-state law.

Right to Life of Michigan worked to make Parental Consent in Michigan a reality. Since 1990, the teen abortion rate in Michigan has decreased by 60 percent.

Unfortunately, because Sen. Stabenow chose not to stand up for Michigan families in Washington, D.C., our teens are at risk for crossing Michigan's border for secret abortions.

It is time for a change in Michigan. We deserve a senator who will stand up for Michigan families and vote for commonsense legislation. To learn more, visit www.rtl.org.

By Erik Whittington
September 28, 2006

On January 22, 1973 the United States Supreme Court declared war on my generation. The high court decided, with the infamous Roe v Wade and Doe v Bolton decisions, that a mother had a right to abort her child – for any reason, at any point in pregnancy. Personhood was effectively stripped from preborn babies. As a result of those two infamous decisions, more than 47 million babies have been slaughtered by surgical abortion. More than one million preborn children are aborted every single year. For every two babies born in America, one is aborted. The numbers are staggering and difficult to contemplate.

On September 11, 2001 terrorists flew airplanes full of people into the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon and the Pennsylvania countryside. Nearly 3,000 people were murdered. This act was horrific and, appropriately, we responded in shock. However, more 3,500 babies are aborted every day in America . That is one dead child every 24 seconds. Why isn't this action greeted with the same response? Where is the outrage? Where is the shock? Preborn children are under attack in this country every single day.

lifechainsm.jpgOn this LifeChain Sunday the Big Blue Wave has called for a pro-life blogburst to raise awareness of the evils of abortion and the need for legal protection of the unborn child.

To this end, you are asked to post 2-3 paragraphs on a pro-life theme on your blog.
Check for updates here.

And don't forget to participate in your local LifeChain event:

Annually, on the first Sunday in October, LIFE CHAIN invites the churches in each city and town across North America to stand on a designated local sidewalk and pray for one hour, while holding one of the following approved pro-life sign messages:
  • ABORTION KILLS CHILDREN

  • JESUS FORGIVES AND HEALS

  • ADOPTION: THE LOVING OPTION

  • LORD, FORGIVE US AND OUR NATION

  • ABORTION HURTS WOMEN

  • PRAY TO END ABORTION

  • LIFE—THE FIRST INALIENABLE RIGHT
