Misplaced Outrage: Colorado Liberals Not Upset About Abortion Among Black Women, They're Only Mad Because a Republican Brought Up the Subject

Here's the story from the Denver Post about Republican candidate for Colorado governor, Bob Beauprez, being forced to apologize for (of all things) being appalled at the number of abortions performed on black women.

Beauprez told a radio audience, "I've seen numbers as high as 70 percent - maybe even more - in the African-American community. That, I think, is just appalling."

So how do Colorado liberals respond? Well, rather than deal with the fact; namely, the "appalling" rate of abortion among black women itself, they do what comes natural -- ignore the salient issues altogether and get angry at the person with the audacity to point out the obvious.

New Stanek column on WND: "Babes in Thailand rapists needn't leave U.S."

So what if minor girls can't buy emergency contraceptives without a prescription?

Their rapists can.

When last week the FDA authorized over-the-counter access of ECs to women 18 and older, it also authorized over-the-counter access to men 18 and older.

Why would men buy ECs?

Ask them in Thailand, where ECs have been marketed for 20 years. In Thailand, ECs are advertised in men's magazines....

I don't know whether acting FDA Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach was caving to or cavorting with radical feminists when making his decision, but it was irresponsible and dangerous.

Have you ever heard of the FDA making the high dose of any drug available on the store shelf while locking the lower dose in the pharmacy?

Here's the magnitude of difference between prescription-only birth control pills and now nonprescription ECs: Planned Parenthood recommends taking 40 Ovrette brand birth control pills at one time to equal the dosage of the EC....

Law Prof Rick Duncan Takes On the Morning After Pill on National Public Radio

This afternoon an e-mail came in from Rick Duncan, one of our pro-life heroes who is also a good friend. Rick is an ace professor of constitutional law at the University of Nebraska Law School.

Denny, I was on NPR today (with Sen. Patty Murray) talking about "Plan B," the morning after pill. Vital Signs Blog helped me prepare.

The NPR program Rick refers to here is Talk of the Town and in his arguments against the Morning After Pill, Rick had to take on not only Patty Murphy but also the NPR representatives on the program. Murphy, a Democrat from the state of Washington, is one of two Senators who strong-armed this FDA decision through. The other was Hillary Clinton.

But though the deck was stacked in favor of the Morning After Pill, Rick did a terrific job in defining when life begins and in presenting both the unreported dangers of the drug and the political implications of the FDA being coerced by left-wing politicians.

Media Duped Again: Human Embryos Weren't "Spared"

Wesley Smith notes how the media were conned by Advanced Cell Technology's press release because they didn't read the actual study before publishing the false news that embryonic stem cell lines were created without destroying human embryos. You can download what appears to be the study here. According to Wesley, all 16 human embryos were killed and 4-7 cells were taken from each 8-10 celled embryo.

The Plan B Enigma

Dawn Eden writes that it takes as many as 40 ordinary oral contraceptive pills — all of which require a prescription — to equal the hormones in Plan B, which is now available to women as young as 18 without a prescription.

So, riddle me this: Why do oral contraceptives still require a prescription, seeing as they're so safe that you can take 40 times the prescribed amount anytime you want?
Answer here.

Anti-contraception Group Calls FDA's Plan B Decision Irresponsible

NEW YORK, Aug. 24 /Christian Newswire/ -- The No Room for Contraception campaign issued the following statement regarding today’s Plan B decision by the FDA.

Ruben Obregon, President of the campaign, said “This scheme is irresponsible at best – as it is, untold numbers of minors buy cigarettes and alcohol using fake or borrowed identification. Now they will do the same with Plan B emergency contraception, putting their health at risk. In addition, this pill can easily be obtained by adult friends and siblings and given to minors without knowledge or consent of their parents.”

“Over the counter access to emergency contraception will make minors more vulnerable to sexual abuse. Easy access to Plan B will allow sexual predators to cover up their crimes by making a simple trip to the pharmacy.”

“Plan B is also thought to be capable of preventing implantation, which means that it is capable of interfering with an existing pregnancy despite denials that it can’t. The long held medical view of pregnancy, contrary to the claims of Plan B advocates, is that pregnancy begins at fertilization (or just after), and not implantation. A fertilized egg is, in fact, an existing pregnancy.”

Morning-After Pill Decision Throws Women's Health Concerns to the Wind

The FDA’s decision to allow the morning-after pill to be sold over-the-counter to people ages 18 and up could have devastating effects on women’s health and cause an increase in STD rates, according to Care Net, a network of 975 pregnancy resource centers and medical clinics across North America.

Care Net President Kurt Entsminger said, “Under the pressure of a powerful pharmaceutical company, abortion advocates, and election year politics, the FDA has rushed this drug to the shelves with no idea of the long-term health effects of repeated use among women, especially teens. Despite the attempt by pharmacists to enforce an age limit, teens will likely be among the most frequent consumers of the morning-after pill.

New Embryonic Stem Cell Study Smoke and Mirrors Says Bioethicist

Here is an insightful statement issues by the Center for Bioethics and Human Dignity related to embryonic stem cell research:

Bioethics professor C. Ben Mitchell says that a Massachusetts laboratory’s claim to have developed a new way to derive embryonic stem cells without harming embryos is just “ethical smoke and mirrors.”

Advance Cell Technology (ACT) of Worcester, Massachusetts published an article in the science journal Nature on Wednesday, August 23, 2006, purporting that they had let an embryo grow to the 8- to10-cell stage, extracted cells, and cultivated some of those cells into stem cell lines, without destroying the embryo.

The study does not really show what it claims to show. “There are huge unresolved ethical problems here,” says Mitchell, associate professor of bioethics at Trinity International University in North-suburban Chicago.

A flagrant disregard for the health and safety of women

Kimberly Zenarolla, executive vice president of the National Pro-Life Action Center (NPLAC)—the uncompromising voice of pro-life America on Capitol Hill—has issued the following statement regarding today’s decision by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to allow over-the-counter (OTC) sales of Plan B, so-called emergency contraception, to consumers 18 years and older.

“Today’s decision by the FDA shows a flagrant disregard for the health and safety of women, young girls and their innocent, unborn children. This decision smacks of the same politically-driven mentality that brought about the questionable approval of RU-486 during the Clinton administration. That decision has cost the lives on countless unborn children and the lives of several unsuspecting women who used the drug. Tragically, the Bush administration appears poised to follow in the same destructive footsteps as its predecessor.

Over-the-Counter Sales of Powerful Drug Puts Women's Lives in Jeopardy

Wisconsin Right to Life is deeply concerned that over the counter sales of Plan B without any physician oversight will put women's lives and health in jeopardy.

According to Wisconsin Right to Life Executive Director Barbara Lyons, "The drug is known to cause devastating consequences such as blot clots and stroke. It is simply irresponsible to sell it to women without any physician oversight whatsoever.

August 24, 2006- Thursday FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 24, 2006 CONTACT: J.P. Duffy or Bethanie Swendsen, (866) FRC-NEWS

Washington, D.C. - Today the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Barr Laboratory's application for over-the-counter status of the drug Plan B for women over the age of 18. Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins released the following statement:

"I am greatly troubled that the FDA has sacrificed women's health in the name of politics. Just days after Barr Laboratories admitted its inability to enforce dual-status sale of the drug, the FDA has gone beyond its rule-making authority by granting Barr's request.

"An agency charged with protecting the health interests of the country, must be held to high standards of accountability. Congress must respond to this outrageous action by the FDA.

"Family Research Council is pursuing legal and legislative options against the FDA for its deliberate disregard for women's health and the law."

The OTC Chemical Abortion Decision

The Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer, president of Human Life International, issued the following response to today’s announcement by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that it has approved the over-the-counter sale of Plan B, so-called emergency contraception, to anyone 18 years or older.

“Let there be no mistake about it, today’s decision lies at the feet of President Bush and has created a lasting rift with the Catholic faithful who compromise a large part of his support base. His statements at this past Monday’s press conference in support of over-the-counter sales set the stage for this morning decision.

FDA Scheme for 'Plan B' is Medically and Legally Questionable

WASHINGTON, Aug. 24 /Christian Newswire/ -- The nation's largest faith- based association of doctors today issued a statement opposing the FDA's decision to allow "emergency contraception" to be purchased without a physician's prescription and oversight, with the intended exception of purchases by minors.

Dr. David Stevens, Executive Director of the 17,000- member Christian Medical Association (www.cmda.org) noted, "The FDA's plan seems designed as a political compromise, but the FDA is supposed to insure health and safety apart from politics. The FDA seems to be making the same mistake with 'Plan B' that it made with RU-486--making a decision influenced by political pressure.

FRC Reviews Legal Options After FDA's Plan B Decision

Washington, D.C. - Today the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Barr Laboratory's application for over-the-counter status of the drug Plan B for women over the age of 18. Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins released the following statement:

"I am greatly troubled that the FDA has sacrificed women's health in the name of politics. Just days after Barr Laboratories admitted its inability to enforce dual-status sale of the drug, the FDA has gone beyond its rule-making authority by granting Barr's request.

FDA Oversteps Authority by Approving Non-Prescription Access to Morning-After Pill

Concerned Women for America (CWA) strongly opposes today’s decision by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to approve Plan B, the morning-after pill, as a non-prescription drug. This decision allows anyone over 18 to purchase the drug without a prescription, thereby making the drug accessible to minors who can easily obtain the drug from those meeting the age requirement. The FDA has overstepped its authority in this decision and the result will be young teens who get a high dose drug without their parent’s knowledge or physician’s oversight.

“The FDA’s decision today will have a detrimental affect on women and parents around the country,” says President Wendy Wright. “If the FDA thinks that enacting an age restriction will work, or that the drug company will enforce it when it has already announced it has no intention of enforcing it, then they are living in a dream world. Enforcement requires a penalty for violating the restriction. The FDA has no authority or ability to enforce an age- restriction, and Barr, the Plan B drug maker, has neither the ability nor the willingness. The most it could do is not supply the drug to a violator-- something that will never happen.

Plan B Compromise Is Totally Unworkable

by Janice Shaw Crouse
Posted Aug 23, 2006

As part of his strategy to be confirmed as the head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), nominee Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach threw his lot in with those who are lobbying to get Plan B, the so-called morning-after pill, available as an over-the-counter drug not requiring a doctor’s prescription or supervision.

Mainstream Media Continues to Ignore Adult Stem Cell Advances

This was published published last month, but not a peep out of the rest of the MSM. Imagine the hoopla if an ESCR therapy got results like these...

From Forbes

In Irvine, Calif., a tiny company called PrimeCell Therapeutics has taken adult stem cells found in testes, reprogrammed them, and created human heart, brain, bone and cartilage cells. This marks a breakthrough in developing what are known as "pluripotent" adult stem cells–cells that can be turned into most other cell types. That pluripotent ability, and the fact that stem cells self-renew, is the main attraction of stem cells from human embryos. One challenge with embryonic stem cells, however, is preventing them from creating tumor cells. So far, the PrimeCell researchers have been able to reprogram the cells they extract from testes without any tumor growth.

The Anchoress Support For Pro-Abortion Candidates

The Anchoress said that she will support pro-abortion candidate Rudy Giuliani for president. Actually she said that she would not "publicly and privately" retract her support from him, in response to an email by Nate Nelson.

She stated:

"Is Giuliani the perfect man? No. Will be he a perfect president? Hell no, no such creature can exist. But I do trust him to bring us strict constitutionalist SCOTUS judges. I trust that he’ll say issues like gay marriage and abortion, etc, belong to the states, which they do. I frankly think overall he will be a better president than anyone currently on the scene."

Abortion belongs to the states? Ok, let me forget that one for a second & get to the real meat & potatos.

"Rigorous Application Process"

Christina from RealChoice points out that the Pendergraft abortion mills were supposed to complete a rigorous application process in order to be accepted as a member of the National Abortion Federation. I would be willing to bet that the "process" is just a promise that they will kill a guaranteed number of human beings per month.

Christana says:

-----------

Pendergraft's facilities are members of the National Abortion Federation, the organization whose members perpetrate half of all abortions in the United States.

PLEASE, people, when there's a scandal, just take a moment to search the NAF clinic finder to see if the mill is a member.

NAF advertises: "In order to become a member, a clinic must complete a rigorous application process. Member clinics have agreed to comply with our standards for quality and care, updated annually in our Clinical Policy Guidelines, which set the evidence-based standards for abortion care in North America. NAF periodically conducts site visits to confirm that our clinics are in compliance with our guidelines."

In other words, that NAF membership on an abortion facility is the same as a UL label on an appliance: It's a claim that the entity in question has been inspected and found safe.

Are we going to let them get away with consumer fraud as well as with murder?

Remember, folks, Al Capone was brought down on tax evasion charges. Just because lying to patients isn't the most heinous thing abortionists do, it may be the key to their undoing.

Check all scandalous facilities for NAF membership, pass it on, and hold mainstream medial accountable if they fail to report a troubled facility's NAF membership.

The Birth Control Pill -- Does It Really Cause Abortions?

One of the most important alarms that Vital Signs Ministries has sounded over the years is the news that birth-control pills do, in fact, have abortifacient properties. The science is quite clear on the subject. And, of course then, the stakes in our efforts to let the public (including the evangelical community of which we are a part) know the lethal dangers involved with BCPs couldn't be higher.

Five Pendergraft Abortion Facilities Closed In Florida

Photo of Abortionist Dr. Pendergraft

Two Orlando abortion facilities, Orlando Women's Center and EPOC have been shut down indefinitely, and the state Agency for Health Care Administration also barred abortion at the other facilities, located in Tampa, Fort Lauderdale and Ocala for a week. Dr. Pendergraft's medical license has also been suspended because of accusations that he performed illegal late-term abortions.

The Washington Times reports

"An emergency order issued Wednesday by the Florida Department of Health suspending Dr. James S. Pendergraft IV's license stated he showed "a flagrant disregard for the laws of the state of Florida and a willingness to endanger the lives and health of pregnant patients"

Within the last week, Pendergraft has come under scruteny and investigation after a baby was born and subsequently killed by facility owner, Belkis Gonzalez. Jill Stanek reported that witnesses allege the baby was "placed kicking and gasping for air in a biohazard bag at an abortion clinic in Hialeah, Florida, on July 20". She also stated that:

God, abortion and gobbledygook

By Judie Brown
August 16, 2006

In our current age of enlightenment it doesn't take much for a person to identify himself as an expert. For example, a person who has experience in cleaning bathroom fixtures can say that he is an expert in dealing with difficult situations that confront the homemaker.

So too a man who has experience in reading the Bible and attending a seminary can say that he is an expert in understanding the mind of God.

Continuing this line of reasoning with one more example, I offer the thought that people who defend the preborn child are expert in understanding the difference between falsehood and truth.

More breaking news from FL: Late term abortionist Pendergraft license suspended

This just in, from Channel 13 Central FL News:

Doctor Suspended
Trouble for an Orlando doctor after his license is suspended by the state.

Wednesday, the health secretary put Doctor James Pendergraft on suspension, after allegations he performed an illegal third term abortion.

Pendergraft owns the Orlando Women's Center.

According to state investigators, the abortion happened in July of last year on a woman 28 weeks pregnant.

The state also says Pendergraft gave the woman a controlled substance without the right license.

This also isn't the first time Pendergraft has been in the news.

A clinic he owns was under investigation last year after claims a woman gave birth to her live 23-week-old fetus there during a failed abortion.

Yes, this is the same guy who aborted baby Rowan.

Addendum, 11:30p

From WESH 2 News:

... Pendergraft's five Florida abortion clinics can no longer take new clients, nor can they perform new procedures.

... The emergency suspension order prevents Pendergraft from practicing in Florida until the State Board of Medicine takes final action.

Stanek 8-16 column: Breaking news on Hialeah abortion clinic baby murder case

My WorldNetDaily.com column today reveals breaking news about the baby that witnesses allege was placed kicking and gasping for air in a biohazard bag at an abortion clinic in Hialeah, Florida, on July 20, including:

  • The medical examiner has determined this baby was born alive.
  • The person putting the live baby in a biohazard bag has been identified as clinic owner Belkis Gonzales.
  • Clinic workers allegedly hid the baby on the roof the first time police searched the premises.
  • A police department official says if state attorneys come back with anything other than homicide charges, he will pitch a public fit.

The Embryonic Stem Cell Frauds You Don't Hear About

The cry for more and more embryonic stem cell research goes on -- even amid the inefficiency, the descration of human life, and the clear evidence that adult stem cell research is the path of medical progress.

This illogical demand for embryonic stem cell research (and its funding by governments) also ignores the "stem cell swindle;" that is, the distortion of research findings, the manipulation of data, and the outright lies that are used to project a positive version of ESCR to the public.

And I'm not just talking about Hwang Woo-suk.

Clone the Truth #16

Here is another article for Clone the Truth out of the embattled state of Missouri. No surprise that this one is from the Kansas City Star. Different byline, same misleading euphemisms:

Dear Mr. Hoover,

I am writing to inform you of errors in terminology in your piece "Stem-cell supporters begin ballot campaign" as seen on www.Kansascity.com dated August 15, 2006.

You write, "The initiative, labeled Amendment 2, would protect all stem-cell research in Missouri that is now allowed under federal law, and it would prohibit any attempts to implant cloned cells into a woman’s uterus in an attempt to give birth to a baby." Actually the laboratory technique in question is somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) which creates cloned embryos, not just cloned cells. A cloned embryo is a complete organism and cells are defined as a subunits of an organism. Implanting just any cells into a woman's uterus would not give rise to a baby. That can only be accomplished by implanting a complete organism, in this case a cloned embryo.

John Paul II's Take On America

In case you don't see the comment on the "A Nation Of Great People", this is what John Paul II had to say about America:

"Every human person - no matter how vulnerable or helpless, no matter how young or how old, no matter how healthy, handicapped or sick, no matter how useful or productive for society - is a being of inestimable worth created in the image and likeness of God. This is the dignity of America, the reason she exists, the condition for her survival - yes, the ultimate test of her greatness: to respect every human person, especially the weakest and most defenseless ones, those as yet unborn."

Physicians, Petri dishes, and Pregnancy

(from http://www.NoRoomforContraception.com)

In response to the articles "Contraception Deception" and "Medical Dictionaries Prove Plan B Advocates Wrong", many readers (including physicians) defended their positions by claiming the following:

1. The definitions used by physicians are different than the ones used by nurses and other medical professionals.
2. An embryo must be implanted in the uterus for a woman to be pregnant.
3. Petri dishes can't be pregnant; therefore a woman isn't pregnant at fertilization.
4. Pregnancy begins at implantation due to the fact that is the earliest point it can be detected.

Definition of "Pregnant"

Before addressing these individual points, the word "pregnant" must be examined.

Medical Breakthrough: Could Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Make the Embryonic Stem Cell Controversy Obsolete?

A Kyoto University research group reportedly has generated from a mouse skin cell a new pluripotent cell that resembles an embryonic stem cell.

The online issue of the U.S. scientific journal Cell reported Thursday that Shinya Yamanaka and Assistant Kazutoshi Takahashi have succeeded in creating the pluripotent cell, which they named induced pluripotent stem, or iPS, cell. The iPS cell has similar characteristics to ES cells, which can grow into tissues and organs.

Using an embryonic stem cell in medicine is ethically controversial, as it is extracted from an embryo. With iPS cells, there would be no ethical problems as it does not involve an embryo. If human iPS cells can be created, patients undergoing transplants could have new organs with the same genes as their own, clearing the problem of postoperative rejection responses, and without ethical problems.

A Nation Of Great People

The other day I wrote the article "A Nation Of Morons". In that article I slammed America for allowing the wholesale slaughter of our citizens in the womb. Today I would like to say what makes America great.

I believe that America is the greatest country on God's green earth. We are not only blessed with our great land which provides resources for many other countries, we also:

> Have brave soldiers who are killed and injured on the front lines of the war on terror while other countries hide from that reality
> Do everything we can to "get along" with other countries
> Provide many billions of dollars in foreign aid to other countries
> Believe in true freedom, not the pretend freedom of the United Nations

Obviously we do a lot more than that, but my point is that we aren't just a selfish nation who is only concerned about ourselves. Our founding fathers had great ideals. They believed in the Judeo/Christian God, that we have many rights and freedoms which must be maintained, and that we must be a sovereign nation. For most of our history, our country has grown through the many difficulties that a nation faces. As an example, women, minorities and the handicapped are equal citizens with equal access to the many things which make America great. Among the many valued things they have access to are, freedom to pray, freedom to learn, steady employment with decent wages and the ability to purchase a home with the white picket fence.

We are a great country. Let's do more to help our people in need. Speak out with us once a month on the first Friday and challenge our representatives to do what's right. Encourage them to literally "help the little guy", the one in the womb who won't live unless we end the horror of abortion. How Much Do You Know About Vaccines?

Every time we have a vaccine we are ethically challenged. Did you know that vaccines can come from killed human beings? I've said it before, scientists and doctors believe they have no boundaries, and this is one example of that.

"For over thirty years pharmaceutical companies in this country have been producing vaccines derived from tissues of aborted fetuses, a fact that was brought to light when several prominent Catholic newspapers published articles on the morality of using the vaccines. The trouble began when a new law in St. Louis County, Mo. required food handlers to obtain the Hepatitis-A vaccine for employment. When the source of the vaccine was revealed, many principled individuals objected and with good reason. As this information has become public, more and more physicians and parents are troubled by the ethical issues involved."

There are ethical alternatives to most diseases. This website has those alternatives and phone numbers for your doctor. He/she can ask for alternative vaccines which do not rely on aborted fetuses.

http://www.cogforlife.org/vaxbrochsample.htm

Our scientists and doctors need ethical oversight. We should never have explored the use of killed human beings for solutions to our medical woes. The Nazis did it & we thought it was abhorrent. Why is it any better that we do it? The books on the Nazi experiments were closed because the knowledge gained to better mankind was gained through the suffering and death of innocent human beings. The knowledge we have gained from killing our own children is no better.

Join us once a month on the first Friday at MonthlyCallForLife.com to challenge our representatives to end abortion and support the culture of life. If we don't do it, who will?

A nation of morons

We must be a nation of morons. After all, we allowed a murderous precedent like Roe vs Wade to be set, one that determined that a woman has a "right to privacy" to kill her child. Our policy makers decided to allow murder to be decriminalized because those morons thought it would be a good thing. 50 million people have been killed but we are still a nation of morons, allowing it to happen while paying more attention to sports "heroes", idols and reality shows.

Have you had enough of this yet? When will it be enough? When will it get to the point where you will encourage everyone you know to take a stand against abortion and the culture of death?

Are you caught up in the terrorism fear? Babies have more to fear from American citizens then they do from Islamic terrorists. American citizens kill their children in the womb at a rate that equals 9/11 every single day.

When you decide you've had enough, join us at MonthlyCallForLife.com. We are speaking out on a regular basis to let our representatives know that we aren't just morons. We aren't passive people who will continue to allow over 3,000 people a day to die without protest. We unite once a month on the first Friday to call and/or email our representives to let them know we want them to do everything they can to stop abortion.

Don't let another day go by where you don't do everything you can to challenge abortion and the culture of death. Even if you are already involved in a pro-life effort, you can spare the 10 minutes, once a month, to call and/or email your representatives. If you feel like you can do a little bit more, show up at a local abortion mill on the first Saturday after the first Friday to help us pray for the women who go there & for the babies who won't live that day. You won't truly understand abortion until you do. Abortion mills are the killing centers, and most likely there is one near you. Women go in with a life inside of them and come out after having killed their offspring. That is what abortion is, the direct killing of our children.

Have you had enough of the abortion insanity? Then speak up, and tell your friends & family to do the same!

Plan A: Scrap Plan B

I'm irritated. Totally.

My job is to tell the truth; but I'm continually thwarted by those in the medical community and the government who make false claims that utterly disregard the dignity of the human person.

National Pro-Life Leader Rallies Supporters to Defeat Abortion Status Quo at Weekend Event

(Crossroadswalk.com photo)

WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 /Christian Newswire/ -- Stephen G. Peroutka, chairman of the National Pro-Life Action Center (NPLAC) - the uncompromising voice of pro-life America on Capitol Hill -- will deliver the keynote address to the Crossroads rally, "Taking Steps to Save Lives," on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol this Saturday, August 12, beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Science Can't Prove the Unborn aren't Human Beings so I'll Turn to the Bible

State News columnist Shane Krouse, whose previous column on abortion displayed such incredible ignorance of fetal development it was possibly the worst pro-choice column I've ever read, is back in the saddle today claiming that the "Bible Supports Abortion Rights."

It's hard to say but I think this column might be even worse than the previous one. His attempts at logic are so poor, I'm requesting the State News force its columnists to take basic junior high logic courses before allowing them to have something printed.

Krouse starts by writing,

As some Christians deny scientific evidence, which can be proven, I will fight them with their own book of knowledge.

This from someone who claimed "During the first trimester of the pregnancy, the fetus is merely a wad of cells." So basically, Shane knows his ignorance of fetal development and biology was displayed in full force and now he has gone to some pro-choice web sites in an attempt to back his laughable arguments with the text of the Bible. He knows he has no scientific evidence to prove the unborn aren't living human beings so he's forced to attempt to misconstrue the meaning of scripture to arrive at the conclusion (the unborn aren't living human beings) he's already preordained.

CNN Report: Adult Stem Cell Research is a Money Maker

In an interesting (and welcome) development, the last couple of days have seen increased attention from the MSM about the success of research using adult stem cells - a success that is translating into solid investment opportunities. On Tuesday I put this post on the Vital Signs Blog and today I'm suggesting you check out this remarkable CNN story which touts biotech companies like Osiris, Cytori, and Aastrom that are concentrating on adult stem cells.

South Dakota Update -- The Billion Brothers Split on Abortion Ban

Okay, you're the Democrat running to become South Dakota's next Governor. And, in normal behavior for a Democrat seeking political office, you oppose such sweeping pro-life measures as the abortion ban passed earlier by the state legislature. In fact, you create a special news conference to "clarify" how completely you're opposed to the ban.

You've got everything going for you -- you're speaking to like-minded souls in the media; you're utilizing the old "Of course, I'm pro-life but" rhetoric; and, heck, you're a physician with all the authority that commands.

But, uh oh...you suddenly discover that your own brother (also a physician) has come to the same place with a public statement of his own. And his statement stands squarely, strongly against yours --- "I support this courageous act by our South Dakota Legislature and Governor Rounds, because it recognizes the scientific and moral truth about human life in the womb."

Maybe it's just not your day, after all.

Read MSNBC's account of the Billion brothers' disagreement right here.

New Stanek column on WND: "Miami - legalized back-alley abortion capital of the US"

wnd_logo.gif

Abortion proponents said making abortion legal would stop back-alley abortions. In reality, all legalizing abortion did was make back-alley abortions legal.

I've previously written about characters like Krishna Rajanna, the fetus-eating abortionist in Kansas, and Rodolfo Finkelstein, the sexual pervert abortionist in Michigan.

But now I've stumbled on a nest of abortionist snakes in Miami, certainly making it America's legalized back-alley abortion capital.

Readers may have read news stories two weeks ago of workers at a Hialeah, Fla., abortion mill allegedly killing a newborn baby. Hialeah is next to Miami.

That was merely the tip of the slice-and-dice-berg....

The Auction Of Pro-Life Domains

Some people believe that pro-life domain names are worth a lot of money & are trying to profit from them.

There is such a thing as a reasonable amount to ask for, but to hold a pro-life domain hostage in order for you to profit from it is unkind and immoral, and contributes to the killing of over 3,000 unborn human beings a day.

A Deadly Back-Room Deal: California's Biggest Union Opposes Parental Involvment in Abortion Decisions

This is really sad news.

The Democrats who control the California Labor Federation have announced that their union is not only going to jump into the abortion fray, but that they're going to begin with an official opposition to Proposition 85, a ballot initiative that would require doctors to notify parents before performing abortions on minors. Furthermore, the leaders said they're going to push their "big brother", the national AFL-CIO ''to reconsider its position of neutrality on the issue.''

The CLF represents more than 2.1 million workers in over a thousand unions.

A Democrat and a Republican ask Gates Foundation to fund human killing research

After losing the funding war by veto to President Bush, a Democrat and a Republican are pushing for the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation to fund this life killing research.

"Rep. Diana DeGette, a Colorado Democrat, and Rep. Mike Castle, a Republican from Delaware, are asking the world's richest man to help them fund embryonic stem cell research."

LifeNews.com Article

"It seems to fit within the guiding principle of your foundation -- every life has equal value," the lawmakers wrote in a letter to the foundation, according to a Denver Post news report.

"This research has the potential to unlock cures and treatments for many devastating diseases affecting hundreds of millions of patients around the world,"

Does every life have an equal value? To pro-abortion and/or human killing advocates it does not. To them, some are more valuable than others, and if the unseen (unborn) can be used to benefit the born, they believe we should experiment on them, and kill them for our benefit.

Speak out against this insanity.

ACTION: Contact the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and urge it to not spend any money funding embryonic stem cell research. Contact: Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, PO Box 23350, Seattle, WA 98102, (206) 709-3100, info@gatesfoundation.org

What you might say:

My name is ...

Please don't fund embryonic stem cell research because human beings are killed in the process.

or - Please stop the funding of embryonic stem cell research and the funding of Planned Parenthood.

Thank You

Will (can?) the real Democrats please stand up?

From today's NY Times, on Pew Research Center opinion poll findings released Thursday:

The real import of these splits within the parties - and the problems they pose for Democrats - becomes apparent only when one seeks out the weight of the differing groups within each party.

Moderate and liberal Republicans constitute only 36 percent of the Republicans, according to Pew's findings, compared with the 62 percent considered conservative. The ideologically dominant group, in other words, is also numerically dominant.

For Democrats, it is quite different: 67 percent fall in the moderate-conservative category, while 31 percent qualify as liberals. The ideologically dominant group - certainly on abortion, less so on same-sex marriage - is the numerical minority.

The poll also found that only 31% of Americans want abortion "generally available," while 66% don't, prefering increasing degrees of stricter limits, up to and including a ban. The problems for Demcrats regarding abortion appear even worse when considering that even 33% of liberal Democrats fall into the latter camp.

Clock ticking... Child Custody Protection Act update

Sen. Frist called for unanimous consent once again this morning to send the Child Custody Protection Act to conference (i.e., for Senate reps to meet with House reps to work out agreeable language, since they passed similar but not identical bills).

This time, supposedly pro-life Sen. Reid stood up and objected, rather than rabid pro-abort Sen. Durbin, heretofore the visible obstructor.

Reid and Durbin say they are objecting on behalf of Sen. Boxer, who submitted an amendment to take away parental rights of incest perpetrators. This is a surprisingly good pro-life amendment. The Senate approved it, but it wasn't in the House language . Frist has promised not to accept any language from conference that doesn't include this amendment, but Boxer says this promise isn't good enough. It's all a smoke-screen.

Reid reminded Frist he could go over Reid's head and call for a vote to send the bill to conference. This was either a taunt or an attempt to find a way out due to pressure. Sources suggest the former. Frist didn't bite. I'm not clear why. Seems to me he would want to get senators on record who might vote for the bill before they vote against it. Furthermore, since CCPA passed 65-34, it seems likely although not guaranteed that a motion by Frist to override Reid would pass.

If CCPA doesn't leave the Senate tomorrow, there won't be time to get all ducks in a row before its September 15 recess. It will become increasingly difficult to see CCPA become law after tomorrow.

IL Federation for the Right to Life launched an urgent nationwide on-line petition drive two days ago and has heard from all but two of 50 states, including one congressman. IFRL is faxing the names they have to Reid, Durbin, and Frist this afternoon but are still gathering names. Please sign this petition.

Or call them at 202-224-3121.

Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer Update

Dear Friends:

A lawyer offered his legal opinion on the need to warn pregnant women about the risks of abortion. Charles Francis, Esq. who has successfully represented abortion-injured women in lawsuits against doctors who failed to disclose the risks, wrote an article for the Herald Sun (Melbourne, Victoria). He said:

"In my view, pregnancy counseling services would be derelict in their duty if they did not warn women of their increased risk of breast cancer, infertility and psychological trauma following abortion."

U.S. Representatives Henry Waxman and Carolyn Maloney and other Democrats on the U.S. House Government Reform Committee should take heed.

In Portland, Oregon, an abortion-injured, 20-year-old woman successfully sued her abortionist for failing to disclose the risks of breast cancer and emotional harm. The clinic conceded the breast cancer risk. She was too young to develop breast cancer, but she still recovered a large sum from the clinic, according to her attorney.

Charles Francis' article is shown below. Spread the word.

Sincerely,
Karen Malec

PRESS MISSES HUGE STORY - Abortion Premature Birth Link

Press Misses Huge Story about National Academies of Science Recognition of Abortion-Premature Birth Link, Says Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer

Last week, the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer published a press release noting that the Institute of Medicine (IOM), an organization of the National Academies of Science, has listed "prior first trimester abortion" as a risk factor for subsequent premature birth. [1,2] Leading radio networks carried the story, but not the mainstream print press.

Clear Thinking About Plan B

Achromic on the run | Plan B:

Now....... most of you might think that I would be jumping up and down for joy over this. After all I AM very prochoice. But instead I am worried. We are not talking about bendryal people......... this stuff has more complications then weed or alchol. AND the fact is ............ the fact is I see to much of a high risk for abuse. I think that Plan B should be avilable..... don't get me wrong about that. Just not at the local Walgreens next to the snuffle meds and the preg. test. Why? Because I can see parents who give their kids plan B without the kid ever knowing...... I can see boyfriends and husbands doing it too. I can see this drug being taken in huge amounts by kids that think if one is good 5 will do better. And I am worried about that.

In the interests of clarity, it should be noted that Achromic is fervently pro-choice, although she is more open-minded than many pro-choicers....

Medical Dictionaries Prove Plan B Advocates Wrong

(From http://www.NoRoomforContraception.com)

Around the nation, news reports concerning Plan B feature claims from abortion advocates that the "medically accepted definition" of pregnancy begins with the implantation of a fertilized egg. These claims are made with an air of certainty and credibility by these advocates, and are often presented as uncontested facts in the news stories. (See “Quotes of Interest” below.)

Plan B advocates go so far as to claim that the “anti-choice” movement is trying to change the "long standing" definitions of pregnancy and conception in an attempt to ban birth control and emergency contraception.

Often they cite prominent physicians, medical text books, and medical organizations such as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) to bolster their claims. They almost always forget to mention that many OB/GYNs disagree with their views. [1]

Is Plan B Ethical?

Lifenews.com points out that the FDA is now pushing for over-the-counter sales of the morning after pill, known as Plan B. They appear to be holding their fingers up to the wind in order to make that decision. Are they considering ethics at all in this matter?

Article

Dictionary.com defines ethical as the following:

1) Of, relating to, or dealing with ethics.
2) Being in accordance with the accepted principles of right and wrong that govern the conduct of a profession. See Synonyms at moral.
3) Of or relating to a drug dispensed solely on the prescription of a physician.

Don't you think definition number 3 is interesting considering the current debate? The pro-abortion industry wants a pharmacist to dispense a drug which could kill the person taking it or the person who might be born. Since when did pharmacists become doctors? The last time you picked up a prescription, did the pharmacist ask you if you were diabetic or if you had any other problems that might cause you to have a reaction to the drug that they are giving you? No, they expect the physician to have already done that for you. All they do is put pills in a bottle, after which a front desk clerk takes your money for them.

Ending Child Sacrifice

Ingrid from Slice of Laodicea recounts an event I believe to be a key to ending the atrocity of abortion in our land:

I recall with clarity a room full of pastors from the city of Milwaukee watching the video, The Hard Truth. The event was sponsored by our radio station and we had over 100 pastors from various church backgrounds watch the reality of child sacrifice in abortion clinics across this land. We are nearing the 50 million mark in terms of lives lost to this evil. The words of the song in that video were as haunting as the music. The song was "Malediction". As the pictures of the broken and burned bodies of these little children flashed upon the screen, the pastors one by one began weeping and many were on their knees by the end.
Her post is in response to the grisly discovery of a child's body, killed after being born at an abortion clinic.
