Wisconsin Right to Life claims that NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin and Planned Parenthood are misrepresenting Wisconsin law:
June 19, 2006 Today, NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin issued a news release containing the blatant lie that Wisconsin abortion law "could be used to threaten women with up to 3-1/2 years in prison and fines up to $10,000."NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin along with Planned Parenthood, the state's largest abortion provider, have been intentionally promoting this falsehood for months. Both of the organizations have expressed fear that if Roe v. Wade should be overturned, a particular abortion law, s. 940.04, would come back into effect. That particular abortion law, was on Wisconsin's lawbooks when Roe was handed down. The law became unenforceable because of the Roe v. Wade decision.

"In 1985, a law, s. 940.13, was enacted that removed any and all penalties to women that were contained in s. 940.04. We should know because Wisconsin Right to Life strongly supported and worked for the enactment of that law. The truth is that when s.940.04 comes back into effect, no women will be penalized in any way for obtaining an abortion."
"It is obvious that the extreme pro-abortion lobby is not interested in having an honest debate on this issue," said Armacost. "Instead, they have chosen to deceive the public about what Wisconsin law would and would not do if Roe is ever overturned. Wisconsin Right to Life demands that NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin and Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin issue an immediate retraction of these blatant falsehoods!"
Armacost said that Wisconsin Right to Life views women who have obtained abortions to be victims of the profit-oriented abortion industry, not criminals. She pointed out that some of the women that work hand in hand with Wisconsin Right to Life have have had abortions.
"These are our sisters in the pro-life movement who work tirelessly to prevent other women and their unborn babies from facing the tragedy of abortion," said Armacost. "They are not criminals!"
These Anti-Choicers are completely disingenuous when they claim that women are just "victims of the abortion industry". Millions of us women freely choose to terminate our tragic, unwanted pregnancies and NO ONE coerced us into doing it. We are NOT "victims" of the abortion industry as these anti-women/anti-choicers continually claim. These clinics provide caring healthcare workers who give millions of women the best of care. Millions of women who get abortions know exactly what we are doing and have not regretted our abortions. What we do regret is getting pregnant in the first place. But not the abortion.
In fact, Anti-Choicers who want to criminalize abortion do want to put women in jail for terminating their unwanted pregnancies. Its just that they will not come out (yet) and "say" it because they know that it will be a public relations/political nightmare that will set back their fascist movement in their quest to enslave us women. So they deny charges that they want to prosecute and jail women for getting abortions when previous abortion statutes did in fact imprison women for abortion. Why the change now in such statutes, if abortion is so "heinous" as the anti-choicers continually claim?
These Anti-Choicers can't have it both ways: They continually claim that abortion is such a "heinous" crime. Yet they claim that they don't want to prosecute women for committing such a "heinous" crime. Under to their ridiculous logic that abortion is such a "heinous crime"; Women who hire a doctor/nurse to perform an abortion is no different from any other person who commits a contract killing- like hiring a hitman to kill someone. In any contract killing case, the person who hired the "triggeman" to carry out the killing is prosecuted under the law just as fully as the "triggerman". The law considers the person hiring the "triggerman" to be just as guilty (or even more) since they were the ones who set this whole "crime in motion" and knew exactly what they were doing in a cold, calculated manner. The same holds for women who "cold-bloodedly" hire doctors to perform abortions on themselves, if one buys into the anti-choice hype. Yet the Anti-CHoicers, in their usual dishonesty, claim that they don't want to prosecute women for getting abortions while claiming that abortion is such a "heinous crime".
Well, you Anti-Choicers, which is it? If you are unwilling (or just not willing to admit it right now)to prosecute women for getting abortions, then you are undermining your specious arguments that abortion is such a "heinous crime". By not prosecuting women for abortion while prosecuting the doctors/nurses, then you are allowing the main perpetrator "off the hook" under your twisted logic. Afterall, the doctors would not be performing these abortions if women were not adamantly demanding that they do so. So if abortion is so heinous as you continually claim, then stand up and be honest about it and demand that the main perpetrators of such "heinous crimes" should be fully held accountable, just like in any other contract killing case.
If you are unwilling to be honest about this & boldly stick to your so-called principles by demanding that women be prosecuted and jailed for these "heinous crimes"; then you are undermining your own arguments that abortion is so "heinous". You are implicitly admitting that abortion is not so "bad" afterall since you are unwilling to prosecute the main culprit in this scenario.
Pro-Choice groups have every right to claim that women will again be criminally prosecuted if our precious reproductive rights are torn away because this is what the previous abortions statutes specifically called for. And Anti-CHoicers themselves admit that they want to bring back Pre-Roe statutes or the like. No, folks. This is fair game. And I hope Pro-CHoice groups hold their hyprocritcal "Pro-Life" feet to the fire about their gross dishonesty about all of this.

Apparently, lying is justified if the liars are aligned with your extreme anti-life view.
Regarding your belief that pro-life individuals want to prosecute women who choose to kill their babies - my perception is that there is inconsistency within the pro-life community. Many pro-lifers believe that woman are presently being exploited and that prosecution would be unjustified. The fact that WI RTL apparently supports legislation which does not prosecute women is certainly proof of this.
However, I would agree that there ought to be a penalty for those who choose murder.
