Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius has vetoed a bill that would have required the state to collect more data on late-term abortions. Although Kansas prohibits abortions after the 22nd week of gestation, abortionists can get around the law by exploiting an undefined and ambiguous mental-health exception. Sebelius is apparently comfortable with this practice.
In response, Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, stated, "Once again, the Governor is serving the abortion industry rather than the people. Most Americans dont realize that abortions are being performed by the thousands after 22 weeks gestation, and the abortion industry wants us to think they are performed only for health reasons. They know that if the public found out how many healthy babies of healthy mothers are killed at that stage, people would demand a change in the law."
