Trends in Therapeutic Abortion

Jason at the BelwayBlitz sent me an interesting article discussing the rise of abortions specifically targeted at the disabled. Advances in pre-natal diagnostic technology and legalized abortion have led to a modern eugenics program of unknown proportions:

Lisa's tragedy is not uncommon. She is one of thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands, of women who have had a "therapeutic" abortion. Rather than bear the burden of raising a child with a disability, they terminate the pregnancy.

However care for the disabled is also on the rise and, despite the prevelance of abortion, waiting lists for adoptions of children with Down�s syndrome continue to grow.
