Rose Mawhorter was viciously assaulted while protesting abortion across the street from Vancouver's most notorious abortion clinic. Although the story was covered by LifeSiteNews a few days after the April 7 incident, Rose has just released a video of the attack (warning - explicit language).

Prior to the attack Rose is seen holding a "choice" sign with her would be attacker standing in the background.

As the camera is panned back to Rose it captures the attacker tackling her and forcing her to the ground.

Rose is knocked to the ground and the female assailant grabs her sign and runs. Lifesite reports:
She threw the signs into the traffic and turned back to the scene of chaos she had left behind and began cursing and swearing at the people who were coming to assist Rose. The attacker continued this screaming and yelling until she was out of earshot of the group and then bolted across the road, running as fast as she could making a clean get away.
It doesn't appear from press reports that the perpetrator was ever captured. However, Rose, who is a member of the executive of Campaign Life Coalition BC, continues her weekly vigil at the abortion mill.
In fact she said incidents like this are to be expected when one brings a message to society that it does not want to hear. She was not surprised that people who condone killing the smallest of human beings would resort to attacking defenceless, peaceful demonstrators.Check Rose's video here and read the rest of LifeSite's article."Violence can never be considered an option" Mawhorter stated. "Social justice movements almost inevitably face violent resistance when they successfully challenge accepted injustice. This will be no different for the pro-life movement when we begin to effectively confront our society's sin."

Another blow for tolerance and diversity!
Having seen the video, it's clear that the woman in question is in a lot of pain, but she's blaming the wrong person. She should blame the activists who taught her that abortion was a painless procedure that would allow her to go on with her life as if she'd never been pregnant. She should blame the people who killed her baby.
But that would come uncomfortably close to blaming herself, wouldn't it? It's a lot easier to shoot the messenger.
This woman is in misery and pain, possibly worse than what she inflicted on Ms.Mawhorter. Let's pray for them both and that the assaulter finds peace and balm for her pain. Keep safe, Rose!

I was the cameraman on the day Rose was assaulted and can tell you clearly that your reaction is probably right on. I too thought that she must have been very hurt by her experience. To have such anger pent up that a mere demonstration causes her to exlode in such a way tells me she should be getting help.
Rose is fine today and was back at her post without missing a beat. The delay in getting the tape online was because we had given it to the police to use for identity reasons. No luck in capturing the perpetrator yet.
An interesting observation is that after the attack on Rose, the passersby became much more supportive of Rose. Strange how she needed to be the victim of violence in order to gain the compassion of the general public. But then isn't that what this whole debate is about. No one identifies or has sympathy for the real victims of abortion.

The attacker did appear to be someone who had personal experience with abortion. Perhaps she feels significant guilt and pain. What I wish we could tell her is that there is hope and healing - she does not have to live a life of rage.
This is a very sad thing to hear. After recently reading Randy Alcorn's novel Deadline, I have become acutely aware of abortion dealings and have been challenged in my own faith regarding this issue. This book was a great mirror for my own faith. Although I have always been pro-life, I am being challenged to stand more fervently for this cause I believe in. I read some of Alcorn's true life experiences with abortion clinics and protesting and reading this one only alarms me more. His book was really an eye-opener to the evils that are out there and how I respond to them. I pray for you and encourage you in your cause.
BTW, "Smile", good job on the camera!
