With respect to the destruction of human embryos, we have no intention of compromising on the sanctity of every life, no matter at what point in its development. We have no intention of conceding even a single human life....
The Post-Dispatch reports Senator Talent’s capitulation on banning embryonic stem cell research in Missouri, and, as usual when reporting on stem cell research, gets the story completely wrong.

LifeNews: Missouri Senator Jim Talent Under Fire for Stem Cell Research Flip-Flop

The TRUTH is adult stem cell research which has been going on for 30 years, in the opinion of most scientists, has not shown greater promise than embryonic, which only was heard of in 1998 when Thomas cloned an embryo, for treating horrendous diseases. Adult stem cells are differentiated and have been used for treating blood disorders. You are passing judgement on research that has not been done when you condemn ESCR, SCNT and ANT.
However, which type is more effective should not be an issue if you believe these microscopic, undifferentiated cells are people or human lives which would be destroyed. This is the issue. What are these globs of goo anyway? Scientists call them blastocysts and since I don't share religious ideas that they are people, I would like scientists to be able to pursue research without their hands being tied by the Pope, his followers or evangelical fundamentalists so that someday maybe Parkinson's Disease, like polio, would be history.
Will it cost a lot? Sure, but so does disease. Should people who think potential life is more important than actual life have their tax dollars used to fund it? Of course. My tax dollars support an immoral war that kills actual people. This is not supposed to be a theocratic state, but a secular one. They can opt out of the treatment lines.
The TRUTH is the adult stem cell research has cured hundreds of people while embryonic stem cell research has not healed a single person. It's great 'accomplishment' has been producing useless stem cells which cause cancer and also cause abortionists to become giddy at the thought that abortion could actually serve some useful purpose someday instead of being 100% evil.
The TRUTH is that embryonic stem cell research is 100% legal, and has no restrictions on it aside from a ban on federal money being used for some forms of it, yet some unbelievably vicious, intolerant, anti-Christian hatemongers want to force people who actually care about innocent human life to fund it through tax dollars, citing revenge for the Iraq War or some other ridiculous thing as the reason why, once again, the "pro-choice" people want to take away our choices.
