During his State of the Union Address, President George W. Bush described the characteristics of a “hopeful society”, including institutions of science and medicine that recognize “recognize the matchless value of every life”:
BUSH: A hopeful society has institutions of science and medicine that do not cut ethical corners and that recognize the matchless value of every life.Although his comments were brief, I’m thankful the President addressed the intrinsic value of human life as derived from a transcendent source, namely God, the Creator. However, in addition to a ban on cloning and embryonic experimentation, legislation outlawing abortion follows from the ethics of Bush’s “hopeful society.”Tonight I ask you to pass legislation to prohibit the most egregious abuses of medical research: human cloning in all its forms; creating or implanting embryos for experiments; creating human-animal hybrids; and buying, selling or patenting human embryos.
Human life is a gift from our Creator, and that gift should never be discarded, devalued or put up for sale.
And equal justice under the law, also a characteristic of the “hopeful society”, ought to extend to unborn human individuals who are immature but still possess “matchless value”.

God says that it takes the sperm/egg cleaved in the womb of a woman to create life.
Pre embryonic stem cell research doesn't use sperm in a process called SCNT. Read about it. No unique DNA is even created, no mixing of parent genes.
human cloning is not possible. fact. no human has ever been born from cloning.
the bush administration is just looking for another moral fight to distract from the lies and incompetance of his Presidency. His tactics only serve him well when he can divide and polarize people over issues they truly don't even understand.
Human cells have been injected into mice for decades of research. Does that mean Science should just stop all progress?
"God says that it takes the sperm/egg cleaved in the womb of a woman to create life."
God said that? Really? Actually, God said, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you". It's science which leads us to the reality that a new human life is formed when a sperm combines with an egg. The Bible does not discuss Biology.
"Pre embryonic stem cell research doesn't use sperm in a process called SCNT. Read about it. No unique DNA is even created, no mixing of parent genes."
Your dishonesty here would be funny if you weren't pushing for evil research. You're saying that "SCNT", or "Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer" is morally licit since it doesn't create human life through the standard means. Instead, it takes a differentiated cell from human being and places it inside a human egg cell in an attempt to cause it become a human embryo. In other words, this is human cloning. You're trying to say that it's OK to clone human beings and kill the clones because they are not created through the usual process. Amazing.
"human cloning is not possible. fact. no human has ever been born from cloning."
First of all, if your statement was correct, would that stop people from attempting human cloning through processes like SCNT? No.
Secondly, I guess it's not possible to land a spacecraft on Pluto, either, since no spacecraft has ever been to Pluto. I guess it's not possible to send a manned mission to Mars, since we've never done that. I guess it's not possible to do hand transplants and face transplants because... oh wait, nevermind.
Honestly. You say that human cloning is impossible because nobody has ever succeeded in trying it? And WE'RE the ones who are anti-science?? What about when an embryo in the womb splits in two, resulting in the creation of two unique individuals with the same exact DNA (identical twins)? That form of natural human cloning proves that human cloning is possible.
In addition, you JUST FINISHED TELLING US that we should use the SCNT human cloning technique for scientific research. Are you completely unaware of your blatant dishonesty, or what?
"the bush administration is just looking for another moral fight to distract from the lies and incompetance of his Presidency."
Lies? Such as?
*Crickets chirp*
OH, like the WMDs? You mean the WMDs which Kerry said were in Iraq? And France said were in Iraq? And Russia? And the UN? Etc, etc?
But I thought we were talking about life issues here, not President Bush. I know that you pro-aborts never miss an opportunity to bash him, though, so it's no surprising that any mention of him would drive you into a mindless rage.
"His tactics only serve him well when he can divide and polarize people over issues they truly don't even understand."
That's funny, coming from Mr. 'Lets do SCNT, but human cloning is impossible'. Make up your mind.
"Human cells have been injected into mice for decades of research."
Wow, really? Does that result in the creation of cloned human embryos or human-animal hybrids? Nope.
"Does that mean Science should just stop all progress?"
Way to knock down that straw man. Maybe Bush will one day speak out against traditional forms of animal experimentation and your statements will no longer be lies.
