An Indiana lawmaker has filed a bill to outlaw abortion even though pro-life Governor Daniels says he believes it has little chance of winning passage.
The bill by Representative Troy Woodruff of Vincennes would change Indiana's feticide law to make it a Class C felony to perform an abortion. The only exception would be when a pregnancy threatens the life or health of the mother. Violating the law would carry a two to eight year prison sentence.

This has the potential to be a repeat of the South Dakota debacle. Unfortunately this bill puts the cart before the horse. Of course we want to have these kinds of bills all across the country, but we have to work to overturn Roe first so they don't all get shot down in flames by a pro-abortion Supreme Court. Our time is better spent on the Alito nomination and getting more pro-life senators elected in 2006 so we can get a 5th and final vote on the high court to reverse Roe and allow all states the ability to protect babies before birth.
I noticed in the brief article that the governor did not seem pleased and raised similar objections related to time and resources.
