Justice Sunday III has just begun and the simulcast is airing live over hundreds of radio stations, Sky Angel Nationwide Satellite Television System, Trinity Broadcasting Network and via webcast on www.justicesunday.com. The event is being help at Greater Exodus Baptist Church in Philadelphia, pastored by Rev. Herbert Lusk.
Why are we here, asked Pastor Lusk? FRC President Tony Perkins replied, “We are here to take a stand for our religion liberties and freedoms and they are under attack…”
RightWingSparkle, Captain Ed, La Shawn Barber and Stacy Harp are live blogging - you'll want to check out Stacy's photo of the militants demonstrating.
Updates: Charmaine Yoest is live blogging at the FRC's new blog.
7:23 - Rev. Herbert Lusk, now speaking, begins addressing critics who call him an "Uncle Tom" – "if being pro-life means I’m a maverick then I am a maverick."
The foundations are being tampered with and discrimination against the "people of God" ... "The foundations will not be destroyed because Jesus said upon this foundation I will build my church and the gates will not prevail against it."
Rev. Lusk continued, asserting that the church has "surviving", "thriving" and "arriving" power.
Captain Ed comments what seems obvious from the simulcast, Rev. Lusk has the audience on the edge of their seats.
7:34 - Dr. James Dobson from Focus on the Family begins noting the energy level of the crowd. "You are one fire and there are millions more who feel just the way we do."
"Getting Alito confirmed is one of the most efforts of recent history because of the issue of judicial tyranny."
Update: more pictures from Stacy - one is posted to the right.
Dr. Dobson takes aim at partial birth abortion, gay marriage and parental consent, asserting that it is wrong for the courts to make decisions on these issues "for us".
Action Item: Now countering the coming storm of attacks against Alito's character, Dobson states,
Do not believe it. This is a good man who will make wise decisions… I urge you to let your Senators know how you feel about this (contact info here). Tell them tow things:
- Do not filibuster
- Give this man the courtesy of an up or down vote
7:48 – Dr. Jerry Falwell, Liberty University takes the pulpit, thanking Pastor Lusk, Dr. Dobson and the FRC to deliver the crucial message to the people of faith that it is now or never.
"Our work is mobilize people of faith and values – and this work is coming to consummation right now (paraphrased)." Similar to preceding speakers, Falwell provides a clear tie between liberty and the religious foundation of country. "We need to come back to what the founding father [believed] ... we are a nation under God”
Action Item: ask your U.S. Senators to confirm Alito.
7:56 - Tony Perkins calls listerns to pray - go to frc.org and join their prayer team. "Pray for those who wish to take away your voice that they might come to peace ..."
Action Item: Pray for the next 21 days, get up from your knees and take action.
8:05 - Bishop Wellington Boon, Founder of Fellowship Internal Churches
Bishop Boon continues an emphasis on prayer that has developed in the meeting, identifying God’s blessings with fires of prayer and revival. This nation was founded, with prayer, by individuals desiring religious liberty, he states.
His speech is just getting good but I've lost my connection to the server.... hopefully Justice Sunday is completely overloaded as a result of interest. So, I'm signing off here ...
Please do visit RightWingSparkle, Captain Ed, La Shawn Barber, Charmaine Yoest and Stacy Harp who continue doing a great job covering the event live.
