My respect for Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS) continues to grow. As a leading pro-life voice in the Senate he spoke effectively during the Samuel Alito confirmation hearing today against the judicial tyranny that brought the scourge of legalized abortion to the United States.
Among the most famous of these Supreme Court cases of exercise of political power I believe are the cases of Roe V. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, two 1973 cases based on false statements which created a constitutional right to abortion.And you can claim whatever you want to of being pro-life or pro- choice, but the right to a abortion is not in the Constitution. The court created it. It created a constitutional right. And these decisions removed a fully appropriate political judgment from the people of the several states and has led to many adverse consequences

The result of abortion, according to Brownback, is the complete "killing of a whole class of people in America."

We are at our best when we help the weakest. The weak make us strong. To kill them makes us all the poorer, insensitive, calloused and jaded.
Roe has made it not only possible, but has found it constitutional to kill a whole class of people, simply because of their genetic make-up.
Brownback's comments are brave, indeed, but I think they are misguided because this is not the appropriate forum for such comments---just as comments from the left are inappropriate. (Can anyone remember the original meaning of "advise and consent"? Before Bork, before 24-hour news, when justices were regularly confirmed because they were accomplished jurists, not because of politics?)
I believe Judge Alito will be a key player in one day rescinding abortion laws, but I don't believe that because I think the guy has an agenda---I believe that because he is a highly qualified scholar of the constition who will judge particular cases with a fair and open mind.
Those of us who care about the pro-life cause must understand that things will not change over night. We must realize that when Roe does finally fall, it will be because of an acculumation of reasonable judgements like the ones Alito ruled upon in the early 1990's supporting spousal notification.
In the War to save the lives of the innocent unborns, we must be conscious of the battle at hand. Judge Alito is the perfect warrior because he is not one---he is a philosopher of the law and an ambassador for justice.
I'm disgusted at the hypocrisy of liberals like Ted Kennedy, who actually had only praise for Alito when he was up for the 3rd Circuit in the 90's, but today cliamed Alito's judicial orientations were "genuinely troubling".
Let's keep our eye on the ball here. There's a time and place to convinvce Americans that abortion is a crime. What we need to do right now is to convince the Senate that Judge Alito is a no-brainer in terms of his qualifications and deserves to be confirmed. Pro-lifers need to take the high road, get behind Judge Alito 100 percent and cease this political bickering.

Spousal notification laws are dangerous because they say that a child can be killed when a parent tells the other that the child will be killed. It is still murder.
The last think we need is more judges who shoot down partial-birth infanticide laws (e.g. Planned Parenthood Of Central New Jersey v. John Farmer, Jr., Attorney General of New Jersey, http://www.theamericanview.com/index.php?id=472 ).
