Hypocrisy Over Stem Cells

Washington, D.C. - US Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist today called for the passage of the bi-partisan life-saving cord blood stem cell bill, (HR 2520) sponsored by Rep. Chris Smith. The House bill, Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Act of 2005, already passed in May by an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 431-1. Incredibly, Senate Democrats objected to passing this it.

Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council, responded quickly to the news. "By objecting to passage of the cord blood bill, Democrats are holding the bill as political hostage in order to get a vote on the bill to fund unsuccessful and ethically challenged embryonic stem cell research, which has not treated a single person," he said.

"While Democrats repeatedly accuse Republicans of putting politics before science, in truth, Senate Democrats are the ones who are playing politics with stem cells and with patients' lives."

An FRC press release indicated that studies continue to show that cord blood stem cells have effectively treated a variety of diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, myelodysplasia, severe aplastic anemia, genetic diseases of the blood and immune system as well as certain genetic metabolic diseases like adrenoleukodystrophy ("Lorenzo's oil disease"), as well as Krabbe disease and Hurler's disease, genetic neurological diseases that kill infants by the age of 2.

Do you think they're convinced that this will make them popular? They're trying to save lives in the long term. It's vitally important to crush the opposition to stem cell research as quickly and completely as possible, for every second it takes to bring the Republicans to heel is another life wasted. The red pigs don't seem responsive to reason, and its high time the Democrats resorted to using force like they should have done a long time ago. In fact, it's about time the party showed a bit of spine.

Blue Fury seems delusional. The Red Pigs are part of the democratic party as communist are left wingers. The Republican could be referred to as religious capitalist. We need to get rid of the Democrats who pander to their left wing extremist such as communist and eugenicist.

Senators gave a constitutional oath to preserve the blessings of liberty for the decedents of Americans and they violate that oath when they back the deliberate and arbitrary killing of children still in their early stage of life.
