Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney apparently believes that it is okay to force Catholics and other Christians to dispense abortion pills.
BOSTON -- Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has abandoned plans to exempt Catholic and other private hospitals from a law requiring them to offer the morning-after pill to rape victims.
The Republican governor said his legal advisers told him that the new law supersedes the old law and that all hospitals should be required to offer the morning-after pill, although many Catholics and other Christians consider it to be a form of abortion.
"On a personal basis, I don't favor abortion. However, as governor of the commonwealth, I will protect the right of a woman to choose under the law of the country and the laws of the commonwealth."
Mitt Romney is one of those politicians who "speaks out of both sides of his mouth". He just wants to get the votes. How Mormons accept his moral stance is beyond me since they are so strict about most issues. I guess they are willing to look the other way when it comes to his pro-choice views.
He doesn't have a problem with embryonic stem cell research as long as existing embryos, human beings, are used in the experiments.
As Romney put it in a press conference on Thursday, "All of the rhetoric has been, 'We are throwing away embryos — surplus embryos — that could be used for stem-cell research and that makes no sense.'...
Surplus embryos? Mr. Romney, I wish you would acknowledge that these are human beings not "embryos" to be used for experimentation. After all, if you didn't agree that they are human beings, why would you be against creating new ones for such use?
"Romney announced that he would oppose any legislation that would allow for the creation of new human embryos for scientific experiments"
To me, the most damning statement this man has ever made is this one:
"I am in favor of stem-cell research. I am not in favor of creating new human embryos through cloning," he told the press on Thursday."
In other words, "I am in favor of killing existing human embryos (human beings) for stem-cell research but not in favor of creating new ones through cloning."
"All of the rhetoric has been, 'We are throwing away embryos — surplus embryos — that could be used for stem-cell research and that makes no sense."
Surplus human beings? Any Republican who talks this way needs to be removed from office. Do Republicans in Massachusetts want pro-choice Republicans representing them?
American citizens should not be forced to dispense any product which takes the life of another human being. Around the country this issue will get bigger and bigger as more people choose to challenge laws which force them to become murderers by giving away birth control remedies which kill human beings.
Abortion pills cause the death of human beings. The Physicians Desk reference made this point years ago:
