Is the Bible ambiguous on abortion? New York Times writer Michael Luo thinks so.
WorldMagBlog comments, "pitting theologians and passages against each other, the article claims to cast doubt on the Scriptural basis for the pro-life position. In the end, writer Michael Luo concludes that because the word itself does not appear in any concordance, 'On Abortion, It's the Bible of Ambiguity.'
"Thou shalt not kill" seems unambigious to me - so do passages that reveal the personhood of the unborn and the value God places upon them.
Yes it is true, the word "abortion" does not appear in the Bible. Neither do the words "genocide" or "infanticide". Yet, all three are considered murder and prohibited by the simple command, "thou shalt not kill."

I don't know where I should post this, but I did have one when I was 20. I should have never done it. It was the worst thing I've ever done and I regret it every single minute of every day. I am almost 26 now. I am starting to tell people what I did and how horrific it is. I just told my sister and her friend. The friend was for abortion and I said "Let me tell you my side first and then you might want to re-think your stance". She has NEVER heard of someone doing this. She has NEVER heard of someone's mental state after doing such a disgusting "procedure". She never heard of the steps involved that are burnt into my memories. She didn't know that the doctor SUCKS the life (lives) right out of a woman. She didn't know any of this, but yet before she heard my story -- she had made up her mind that it was OK. And yet, this is just a story from when I was 8 wks pregnant. I sent graphic images after our talk of partial-birth abortions. And I think I have changed her heart. At least I pray that I did. I told her that I pray to God to forgive me and that these feelings will never EVER go away.
