The answers Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers provided to the Senate Judiciary Committee (page 9) show that she was affiliated with the currently pro-choice Girls, Inc. back in the late 1980's.
Under community groups section for Miers' memberships after law school included this:
1987: Chair, Advisory Committee, Girls, Inc. of Dallas, a national non-profit youth organization. Contact: Cecilia Boone, Dallas Chair, (214) 654-4530.
Does anyone know if the Girls, Inc.'s current position on abortion existed in 1987?

Why should this irk even some pro-lifers? We can disagree on issues, including social justice, and each be committed to Life in the womb.
We are not in the position to to avoid each possible connection to every possible entity that may have had some connection to abortion. Otherwise, we would have to leave planet earth, because the abortion business is so pervasive, given government and much private support.
Life advocates who are for women and other human rights have no choice but to build networks or work within the social structure available to us. Like or not, this is just reality. This does not make us less pro-life.
I am really saddened by this witch-hunt by pro-life and conservative groups against Mrs. Miers just because she is not the picture perfect, hard-line conservative activist they want in a Judge.
