The Governor of Florida, Jeb Bush, just completed a press conference with Tampa Bay media. He says that the Department of Children and Families, through Adult Protective Services are conducting an investigation of abuse against Terri Schiavo. As part of that, a neurologist by the name of Dr. Cheshire, observed Terri, lengthy videos of her and her case record. He has concluded that she is not in a persistent vegetative state. Rather, he felt she was minimally conscious if not functioning higher.
Needless to say, this is cause for tremendous alarm with Terri not receiving nutrition and hydration in more than 5 days.
There is a 3.45 pm hearing on this matter. Developing...

Why can't the Governor of Florida use his power as governor to close the Nursing Home (even temporarily) because of alleged abuse or some other health violation and move Terri to a safer more Pro-life area of Florida?
VIDEO TAPE! A doctor cannot make a sound judgement on the condition of a person via video tape! Perhaps if Terri had a compound fracture of her leg then yes a videotape would be enough to diagnose it.
The reason why Jeb Bush hasn't and shouldn't move Terri is because he does not have the authority.
Your idea that he should use his power as governor to close the nursing home to move Terri to a more "pro-life" area of Florida is ridiculous and illegal.
Matt, it neither illegal or ridiculous, and there are many precedents for this... in the case of elder abuse etc. Also there was another Nobel Prize winning doctor who has seen Terri on three occasions and concurs with the Neurologist that was mentioned by Governor Bush. Anyway Terri needs to be given the benefit of the doubt.
James,
It is illegal and ridiculous to claim abuse. There is no abuse going on at the nursing home. Further more the doctor you are referring about is not a nobel prize winner, he claims to be a nominee but there is no evidence ( if you are talking about the doctor that was on hannity and colmes the other night).
Get your facts straight.
I JUST DON'T GET IT--HOW COME HER HUSBAND HAS THE RIGHT TO "STARVE HER TO DEATH" WHILE HER PARENTS, HER MOTHER WHO BIRTHED HER HAS "NO RIGHTS" TO HER OWN CHILD'S WELL BEING? I AM A MOTHER AND AS MOTHER'S WE ALL KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO BEAR AND BIRTH A CHILD- HOW DARE HER HUSBAND'S RIGHTS BE GIVEN PRECEDENCE OVER HER OWN PARENTS! GOVERNOR BUSH IS DOING ABSOLUTELY THE RIGHT THING--HOWEVER, IT MAY BE TOO LATE ALREADY-- WHAT A SHAME THIS IS FOR ALL OF HUMANITY.
Matthew, I'm sure that he ( the Neurologist) is a lot closer to a Noble prize than the experts Greer appointed, plus the point I was making regarding your "factual" earlier statement was that the doctor did not rely on video tape evidence but had examined the patient.
Plus Gov Bush does have the authority and will soon demonstrate it to Judge Greer and the other Pro-death onlookers. Good bye Matt and may Jesus bless you and all of us for that matter during this Holy Week.
