Disability rights activist Kate Adamson has been asked by Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to join in the fight to save Terri Schiavo. Adamson, survivor of a double brainstem stroke – once unable to stand, she now stands for life; once unable to speak – she now speaks for those with no voice.
Although Kate has been involved in this case for sometime now and is close to the Schindler family, on Tuesday the Governor reached out to Kate saying that 'she is the best one' to tell the Florida Senate what Terri will be going through should she be sentenced to death by starvation.
Adamson hopes to put a human face on a story that has generated a media frenzy.
Kate, due to a catastrophic brain stem stroke, was dependent on a feeding tube for all her nourishment and had her feeding tube turned off for over a week. She, unlike most others, can understand what Terri is going through.
"I have suffered the pain and agony of starvation and the excruciating pain that goes along with it. I am here today as a living testimony of what hope can do and what prayer can accomplish. Life is either sacred or meaningless... there is no in between."
Adamson will be reaching out to the Florida Senators on Thursday, March 17.
"I have a unique understanding of what Terri is feeling. I could feel everything that the doctors did to me, and I could do nothing. I was at the complete mercy of others, and they couldn't hear me."

The deathmongers will still manage to tune her out. There are none so blind as those who will not see.
I hope and pray that Kate Adamson will be able to accomplish something, but frankly I'm not optimistic. People will just argue that her medical condition was not the same as Terri's, and therefore the problems will not be the same. I'm placing more hope in the lawmakers themselves to pass a last-minute law and send the police in to prevent this.
It seems that Hugh Hewitt and Captains Quarters (Big Stream Bloggers) are reporting on the story. Hopefully it will get more media exposure as time goes on.
