Check out the pictures of 12-week old unborn twins at the Kitchen Network. Cool! Wide Awake holds his own during a class debate that began with the question, "Should women who smoke during pregnancy and harm their child's development be prosecuted for abuse or neglect?"

#!/usr/bin/mom gives nine secular arguments against abortion concluding, "Frankly I think it's the other side that's in danger of losing their 'oomph'."

Sidesspot, commenting on the Arlen Specter situation, writes, "Don't wait for Roe to be overturned. Start today. Love a mother in a crisis pregnancy and her baby."

RealChoice gives an update on embryonic stem cell research. "We need to publicize the failures of embryonic stem cells, and the successes of adult stem cells, to awaken the public to the reality behind the push -- it's about money, not about cures." Stand in the Trenches takes aim at euthanasia, Life Matters! comments on assisted suicide and Imago Dei writes on cloning and deception.

Joshua Claybourn, In the Agora, comments on abortion and Hollywood. Antioch Road, takes the high road, stating, "In Vitro Babies Deserve Protection."

Conservative Life cites a study showing that, "Abortion is bad for your mental health," and Spreading Understanding gives the facts. Res Publica 2004 has more.

Pro-life blogs and news organizations were quick to respond to the FDA's new admission that RU-486 is harmful, even deadly:

  • My Domenstic Church - The death of a California woman in January after she took an abortion pill prompted federal drug regulators on Monday to strengthen the warning label on the drug, RU-486, also known as mifepristone.

  • Mark Nicodemo - FDA and Danco Laboratories have received reports of serious bacterial infection, bleeding, ectopic pregnancies that have ruptured, and death, including another death from sepsis that was recently reported to FDA.

  • After Abortion - President Clinton wrongly interfered with the FDA back then when he revoked the FDA Alert prohibiting the personal import and personal use of RU-486 in the U.S.

  • American Life League - "It's noteworthy that the Food and Drug Administration has finally admitted that RU-486 is not the 'safe' medication that abortion protagonists purport it to be," said American Life League president Judie Brown. "However, the FDA's newly revised labeling requirements are utterly insufficient. We renew our call for the federal government to ban this deadly abortion drug, which is fatal to preborn babies and highly dangerous for their mothers." [hat tip: Pro-Life with Christ]

  • Life News - While pro-life groups say the dangerous RU 486 abortion drug should be pulled from the market after the deaths of three women from it, leading abortion advocates and the maker of the drug insist it is safe.

Redwood City, Caifornia, November 12, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The high-profile murder trial of California fertilizer salesman Scott Peterson has resulted in Peterson being found guilty today of the first-degree murder of his pregnant wife Laci and the second-degree murder of their unborn child Connor. [more]

Finally, I leave you with interesting comments from around the web.
"The Murdering Idiot Is Guilty!!!" La Shawn Barber

California is one of 31 states that protect unborn victims from violence, according to Americans United For Life, a pro-life law firm. In addition, the Federal Unborn Victims of Violence Act, also known as Laci and Conner's Law, was signed into law by President Bush earlier this year. Planned Parenthood and other pro-choice groups opposed the legislation. - Michelle Malkin

Greetings and welcome to the new members of ProLifeBlogs. Our numbers are growing! As I was scanning the right homepage column today I spotted the following pro-life posts.
  • Imago Dei comments on an article appearing in Ms. Magazine about partial birth abortion. He writes, "It is full of so many falsehoods it is hard to know where to start."

  • The women who are making the hard decision to walk into an abortion clinic are increasingly over 40, Asian migrants or full-time workers such as nurses and teachers. - Pro-Life News

  • Stop Arlen Specter Effort and Senators' FAX Numbers - After Abortion

  • In an update on Terri Schiavo, Life Matters! states, "When judges legislate from the bench, they are 'progressive' and 'forward-thinking.' When the courts don't give liberals what they want, they are 'obstructionist'."

  • "The new 3D and 4D ultrasounds can be a powerful tool for life," says RealChoice, "But they can also be a tool for eugenicists, who want to use the new technology to identify ailing fetuses and target them for abortion".

  • OrthodoxyToday and Pro-Life with Christ quote articles reporting that the United Nations Human Rights Committee has demanded that Poland "liberalize" its abortion laws. [Oxymoron of the day: United Nations Human Rights Committee]

  • "Did you know that there are 1.5 million unborn children murdered in America every single year, most for the sake of convenience? That is equal to a 9/11 every single day for a year. Something to think about..." - KitchenNetwork

  • MommyPundit quotes Mommentary, " I've been coming to the conclusion that it's not only important to defeat pro-abortion candidates at the polls. It's also necessary to refuse to play along with the Left's implicit claim that they're quite respectable citizens. It isn't respectable to want it to be legal to tear babies apart."

  • Does anyone know of a blog written by a sidewalk counselor or a crisis pregnancy center worker? anyone who actively works with women in danger of abortion and blogs about it? Contact #!/user/bin/mom.

  • Conservative Life suggests Alberto Gonzales is a good choice for Attorney General because it puts him out of the running for the Supreme Court.

Did I miss one or your more exceptional pro-life posts? Send this blog entry a ping (trackback) or email me (prolifeblogs at gmail dot com). Also, check out the new prolifeblog logos here. Finally, thanks to AfterAbortion for referring to ProLifeBlogs as "All pro-life, all the time". That sounds like a slogan that may stick.

That's all for now ... thanks for blogging for life.

After a tense night in a highly competitive contest John Kerry has conceded the State of Ohio and the election to George Bush. Congratulations Mr. President.

Several of our member blogs have commented on the election results and are worth visiting. I’ve pointed to a few posts below but if you have a great entry that isn't listed let me know. I'll update this summary occasionally throughout the day.

Dawn Treader

My conviction that worldviews really matter was confirmed. From worldviews come ideas, from ideas come policies and positions. To change a person’s position, you need to change their assumptions about reality and truth. Changing presuppositions can happen, but in my experience, it takes more than words to do it. It takes a relationship as well. It is a matter of changing both the heart and mind. Words alone will not do it.
Evangelical Outpost
It was embryo destruction, not the economy. It was partial-birth abortion, not terrorism. It was same-sex marriage, and not the war in Iraq. If you want to see what killed the Democrats chances of regaining the White House just look at the issues we’ve been discussing on this blog for the past year. Exit polls show that in many states, “moral values” was a bigger issue than either the economy or terrorism. One in five voters throughout the Midwest was an evangelical. In Ohio, the state that will put the President over the top, that number was 25%, with Bush taking 75% of the evangelical vote.
Orthodoxy Today
The Republicans extend control of the House and gain two in the Senate, maybe more. Daschle is out and the politics of obstructionism may finally die a long deserved death.
NeophytePundit
My greatest hope is that now the Senate Majority leader figures out a way to defeat the obstructionism in the bringing up for vote judgeships. George W. Bush can now come out more aggressive in his remaining four years. We have work to do …
Musing
Bush Takes It: Kudos to Mr. Kerry for his statesmanlike willingness to concede, rather than litigate this election. While I didn’t agree with all of his tactics, I will admit that Mr. Kerry fought his way through the election admirably.
Imago Dei - What a Night
Many voters cited moral values as the most important issue in this election, over Iraq, terrorism, and the economy. From everything I have read so far, this surprised the pollsters, who had not expected this issue to be very important to most voters. What accounts for this last minute importance of this issue in many voters minds after not even being mentioned before the election? Let's just say that I certainly believe the prayers are answered.
A Physicists Perspective - California Update
On the not-so-bright side, the stem cell research proposition passed. As I pointed out before, I think this is a bad idea -- largely for ethical reasons, but also for economic reasons.
Reasonable Force - Let's Get to Work
Now, however, is not the time for evangelical Christians to rest on their laurels and assume that everything is okay for another four years. Everything is most assuredly not okay, nor will it be while we sit on the sidelines and let the GOP benefit from our numbers at the polls without holding their feet to the fire on the issues that move us. The issues are many, and I won’t bother to try and prioritize them right now:

Sanctity of life - We can be thankful, I think, that we have a strong advocate for this position in President Bush. Overturning Roe v. Wade is essential, as is holding the line on federally funded embryonic stem-cell research and cloning [etc.]

November 1, 2004

Judie Brown, president of American Life League, invites all Americans to join in prayer Monday, November 1, from 12 to 1 p.m. for the election of pro-life leaders at the national, state and local levels. "Prayer is the most powerful tool that we have," said Brown. "We must unite together and call on God’s assistance at this most critical time in our country’s history." [more]

Update:

Thanks to #!/usr/bin/mom and all other pro-lifers who took time today to pray about tomorrow's election. Please continue to pray, asking that God would be merciful to the unborn through our future leaders.

Daddypundit, one of our newer members, gives additional election advice and encouragement. Finally, Neophytepundit quotes Matt. 6:34, a fitting conclusion for this post:

Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
To this add Eph. 4:6-7:
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
